Now that is one impressive collection. I have a few things I would like to point out to you. Your German Kiss Alive II has USA inserts. Take them out of the German copy & put them in the second USA copy you have with no inserts. You are correct that the Germany lp only came with white sleeves. To rest your mind at ease, and anyone else who watches this video, I would consider myself as an authority on Kiss autographs, as I have tons of items signed by each member of the band, and the autographs on your Alive II are 100% Legit. No question about it! Your Double Platinum is beautiful, usually found with TONS of ringware! Did you know the Unmasked poster is the Dynasty poster done in cartoon? Exact same pose by Ace, Peter & Paul, Gene is slightly different. Thanks so much for filming this video of your collection for me Scott. I was on the edge of my seat during every second of this video, as you know, this is my favourite band, and the biggest part of my collection. Rock On Brother!

Nice. I have all of the KISS albums (except for Monster) on either CD or vinyl. You are right about the coolness of the art on RnR Over. I have the pic of Gene from that album tattooed on my right leg! I actually need to get it touched up as the ink is fading in a few spots. I had it done back in 90 or 91.
Huge effort Scott, much appreciated. I unloaded most of my kiss collection around 2008. but held onto some. Love the concert story. My first Kiss show was in Toronto @ the Gardens, Lick it Up with Accept. I have a feeling a lot of the stuff u showed on vinyl u also have on cd? am I right? plus memorabilia, your kiss collection is huge dude, lol you are just humble about it . cheers bro.
Oh yes, my KISS CD collection is massive and bigger than my vinyl collection. I worry sometimes showing collections like this that people will see it as boasting and gloating, but I really want it to come across as 'sharing'. I love watching other people show their collections and I love sharing my collection as well. We're all just music geeks.
That is an Awesome Glow in the dark Gatefold copy of Creatures of the Night. I have never seen that before. I Love KISS! They are my Favorite band ever. I just need Hot in the shade on Vinyl and my KISS Collection will be complete.
Cool! I have alot of KISS cassettes I got hold of. I used to have a ton of cassettes but they got abandoned and misplaced after moving. I just started getting back into cassettes. Since I have no room for Vinyl, I like to collect cassettes. It is hard to come by good cassettes with great sounding quality, but managed to find some great finds at my local thrift shops and even eBay.
So glad you enjoyed it. I'll need to do a KISS video on CDs and merchandise as well. However, will probably do a video of my Ted Nugent and Aerosmith vinyl collections first.
My mother actually grew up the next town over to where "Rock & Roll Over" was recorded. She would have been 4 years old at that time. Crazy world. Love that album, Kiss is awesome. Awesome collection by the way.

Nice job sir!! Pretty impressive!!! Interesting note the first LP by Kiss in my house growing up was Kiss Alive and my brother ended up being the Kiss collector back then but his copy had one label blue and one the second beinge label which i thought was interesting. I remember when I was like 12-13 I used to have an air band with my brother and older neighbor down the street and we would do concerts in his living room singing and air guitaring to the first three Kiss LP's ah the old daze!!!
Wow! That's weird. Did he buy the album new or used? When I was a kid we did concerts on the big red picnic table in our back yard, blasting Alive on the boom box and acting like Kiss. I guess most kids our age did that. Haha!
Hi Scott... Boy!.. this was a long one. But watched it to the end anyway. I like KISS, but I'm not as huge a collector of them as some of you guys in the VC. I do want to collect all their albums. But I'm not in a hurry :). And I'm fine with just having one copy of each album. I think I like the "Creatures Of The Night" album the most. Great sound and heavy tracks. Just like you said. That was an EPIC video, Scott! Always good to see KISS stuff in the VC. I have tried to collect Kiss albums since 1983 but I still don't have as impressive collection as you have. By that I mean that you have their 70s stuff with all the inserts and goodies. Well the hunt of finding those gems is part of the fun. Nothing like looking trhough stacks of vinyl and running across that rare KISS record you've been looking for. Haha! Smashes, Trashes isn't hard to find, but it's probably the one album that I listen to the least. The new songs aren't great and the others are all on other albums.

Scott Waters When the BC Lions won the Grey Cup, I wanted to play the biggest party album of I could think of on myradio show. So, KISS Alive was it! Let Me Go Rock n Roll on that album is one of the best songs in Rock History.

Another great video, Scott. Thank you. KISS has always been my favorite band. I discovered them in '76 after Destroyer was released. I was in fifth grade. However, I didn't get to see them live until the Asylum Tour in '86. To me, Asylum was a great album then, and it's a great album now. I love it. A lot of people, including KISS themselves, put down their eighties albums, but I thought they were great. The KISS Symphony Alive IV album is one of the six exclusives in the KISSteria box set, which I do own btw, so it will not be re-issued by Universal. At least not on black vinyl. If it is, I want my money back! ;)

I LOVE the fact that you do not pinch the vinyl on the edges with your thumb and first finger when taking the platter out of the sleeve. Big pet peeve of mine even though it is the edge as I would think you would want the lead in groove as quiet as possible and adding greasy finger prints to the edge attracts dust.
+deckerdf I hate touching the vinyl and it drives me nuts watching videos where others do. Sometimes you just have to pinch the edges, but most times it's safer to just slide the record out and hold it by the center ring and outer edge.
This video was recorded before the re-issues I think. I did have Carnival of Souls on CD at that point. I now have it on vinyl as well. Thanks for watching and commenting.
I'm 21 just got back into Kiss. They were my first concert back in 2004. I've had 4 CDs for the longest time and had periods of time for getting back into them. I just bought 6 more CDs and today is my bday so hope to help get a Kiss LP later today haha.
Did you ever get that Casablanca 45 box set? It was all the 45s Casablanca put out. The dolor 45s was in color vinyl and they had over sea 45 sleeves to. It's a nice box set.

I'm pretty sure when I saw them on Animalize it was Queensryche opening. I also saw them with Tesla but I think that was the Crazy Nights tour.

I've learned new things about Kiss records since i started watching VC videos,for example i didn't know Rock and Roll Over came with a sticker. Not sure,but i think i hadn't heard before this video that The Elder came with lyrics. I have a single sleeve version of it with the gatefold picture in the innersleeve. Hey Pasi. I have since obtained Carnival of Souls. Yes, Kiss singles rarely show up here. I've seen secured a couple more but none with picture sleeves. Yes, Rick and Roll Over came with a sticker. Also the Japanese version was a gatefold with a killer love shot in the middle.
Very good collection! I just got into collecting vinyls around December of 2014 and my goal is to get every Kiss record on vinyl and I must ask, why is that everyone wants the original pressing/as old as they can go instead of getting the re issues? Also is there any pressing of Carnival of Souls (1997) anywhere that you know of? Word on the street is its very hard to find
Mitch Arnholt Any "original" pressing of Carnival of Souls, as I understand it, are bootlegs and not official. However they do exist. I don't know why collector's prefer the original pressings. Perhaps it because they have the age that a re-issue doesn't have. Many times the re-issues sound better as they are pressed on a higher quality vinyl.
Learned alot that I've never given a second thought about all the different pressings. I'm a bit younger so I've never seen a blue label. Alive 2 was my first.

I'm fairly sure I have over 10,000 CDs. Been collecting those since the late 80's. Records I would have an obnoxious number like that too except I sold all my vinyl in 1990 and only started buying it all back in the late 20 years.
I just put sleeves on all my vinyl the other day I had more Kiss vinyl than I thought, I believe I bought most of it from Sentinel Steel he had a lot of it for 2 or 3 bucks.
also sonic boom came out on 5 colours, blue,red,green,purple and black- i have all four still sealed in frames- still wish i bought the black one. Now they go for $130 or more

Hey Scott I saw kiss in 77 I was 11 My father took my brother and I he and my brother have sinced passed away but I saw them again in 79 on dynasty tour I was 13 My mother took. me to that show I remember in 77 when my parents were already split she was on the phone with my dad saying Steve would you come take these kids to see kiss their driving me crazy lol yeah my elder is all messed up
+Todd Mitchell Nice. I can't say the same. My parents wanted nothing to do with Kiss despite the fact that I begged them to take me to see them in '77. Very cool that you got to see them in their prime. My first time seeing them was on the Animalize tour. Saw them twice that year, once at the Spectrum in Philly and once at the Meadowlands in NJ.
IMO Kiss is a band that I have to listen to visually. So I got a modest collection of DVDs. Kissology Vol 1, 2, &3 are great.So is Exposed and Kiss Konfidential with their MTV videos etc. My best one is a Brazilian edition KISS Animalize Live.

Hi just for something for you to research, i heard that on the Rock N Roll Over album there is a vision with a teardrop on Pauls eye very hard to find . What you do you know about it also i have a copy of Kiss the Singles LP Austarlian release only interested.
+Paulie V Very cool. I'd love to see that Australian pressing. As for the teardrop record, yes, I've seen it. A buddy of mine owns it. It's a very cool misprint with a CYAN spot from the printing press that lands perfectly under Paul's eye and looks like a teardrop. Very cool, even if it was a mistake.
Good news Scott I just got The First Kiss Album.The 180 gram 2014 reissue. But it was a little warped. But I played Side 2 and it sounds Great :) My favourite Kiss Album. Plus good Vid :)
Scott, I have a question about a copy of Ace Frehley's 1978 album I recently acquired: It says its a promo release, and the actual vinyl itself has serial numbers etched into it. There aren't too many differences,but one more noticeable is that in "New York Groove" Ace's vocals are different. The official release kinda has that distorted sound(only way I can describe it) but on my copy its much faster, and has cleaner vocals. Its very odd and if you have any insight on it, I'd be thankful for your time

I'm wondering if your right which you probably are , on the back of my vinyl record self titled it says it was released in 1973. on the back of my cd like the computer it says 1974, doesn't it make sense to release 1 studio album per year , back in the 1960's when songs were shorter bands like the Beatles released a couple of albums per year. so who's right you and the back of the vinyl record or the cd and the computer? I agree with you Kiss Hotter than Hell is a heavy album just as heavy as the debut. did friends that you went to school with, people on your block, when you talked to family members did you always categorize Kiss as heavy metal or did any of you categorize them as hard rock? example heavy Metal back then Ac/dc, Black Sabbath, Judas Priest hard rock Jethro Tull, Heart, The Who, Queen? I never heard of that album killers the only album that I ever heard of killers would have been that Iron Maiden album. But Kiss killers never heard of, in your 1981 video I metioned that I never heard of the elder. so after solo albums and unmasked I never until this year never heard of those 2 albums. so are the years correct that Creatures of the night came out in 1982 or 1981, I always thought Creatures was 1981? same with Lick it up did that album come out in 1983 or was that a 1982 release I thought Lick it up was 1982?
+Mark Santucci Hi Mark. KISS debut was released February 18, 1974. Creatures was released in 1982. Back in the 70's hard rock and heavy metal were not distinguished from one another. They were pretty much one in the same. Black Sabbath was heavy metal and hard rock. It wasn't until the 1990's that people really started making this big distinction between hard rock and heavy metal. KISS - Killers is a compilation with a few new songs that came out between Elder and Creatures. Well worth picking up on CD or vinyl.
+Scott Waters (ultmetal) Killers is a German market compilations album with 4 unreleased tracks from The Elder sessions. I'm LUCKY I bought that as a kid. It wasn't some thing that was easy to find in the big box stores. Luckily I had a music store down the street that had a decent record section. Probably the first album where I carefully sliced the plastic with a razor blade and kept it intact. Bought that right after Luck It Up came out. I had just started collecting comics so keeping everything in perfect shape was suddenly very important to me. You should see my copies of Alive 2 and the solo albums. Fair at best. Subscribed!

Question... I starting collecting vinyl a few months ago... starting with Kiss...& it was awesome at first holding the records I had as a kid again... but now it's getting frustrating... sellers inaccurately list albums... so excitement turns into frustration when you open the package & see the actual condition...& now feels like I'm collecting junk...lol... how did you build your Kiss collection, is this how collecting is, & would it be better to just buy the 180g reissues to cut down on the frustration? Matt Morbidity My Kiss collection started years before the vinyl resurgence. I’d just go with the 180 gram reissues. They look good. They sound fantastic. I also recommend reading any negative or neutral reviews on a seller. I have much less issues with Discogs sellers than I do with eBay sellers.
Hopefully you still read these comments but thanks a lot for this video. I have been trying to put together a 70's KISS vinyl collection and your video helped me figure out what is supposed to be in complete copies. I can't find a good list anywhere. If you wanted to do a video detailing those things I wouldn't be oppose. I also have a question. Those solo album picture discs were released in the USA? I have never seen those before. The solo picture discs were released in the U.S. in the 70's. Only two of the four I showed are original US pressings. The Paul Stanley and Peter Criss are more recent re-issues from Russia. The look nearly identical to the '78 US pressings but they actually sound a little better. Thanks for the compliment. Glad you enjoyed the video.

+sirmugman The first KISS album is a great choice. Elder is a very different Kiss record, but I like it. I think Kiss just got away from what Kiss does best, hard 'n' heavy party rock. That's what people want from Kiss and "Elder" was a move away from that. Still, some great songs like "Dark Light" and "I" .

I have the pic of Gene from that album tattooed on my right leg! I actually need to get it touched up as the ink is fading in a few spots. I had it done back in 90 or 91.

Huge effort Scott, much appreciated. I unloaded most of my kiss collection around 2008. but held onto some. Love the concert story. My first Kiss show was in Toronto @ the Gardens, Lick it Up with Accept. I have a feeling a lot of the stuff u showed on vinyl u also have on cd? am I right? plus memorabilia, your kiss collection is huge dude, lol you are just humble about it . cheers bro.
Oh yes, my KISS CD collection is massive and bigger than my vinyl collection. I worry sometimes showing collections like this that people will see it as boasting and gloating, but I really want it to come across as 'sharing'. I love watching other people show their collections and I love sharing my collection as well. We're all just music geeks.
That is an Awesome Glow in the dark Gatefold copy of Creatures of the Night. I have never seen that before. I Love KISS! They are my Favorite band ever. I just need Hot in the shade on Vinyl and my KISS Collection will be complete.
Cool! I have alot of KISS cassettes I got hold of. I used to have a ton of cassettes but they got abandoned and misplaced after moving. I just started getting back into cassettes. Since I have no room for Vinyl, I like to collect cassettes. It is hard to come by good cassettes with great sounding quality, but managed to find some great finds at my local thrift shops and even eBay.

My mother actually grew up the next town over to where "Rock & Roll Over" was recorded. She would have been 4 years old at that time. Crazy world. Love that album, Kiss is awesome. Awesome collection by the way.

Nice job sir!! Pretty impressive!!! Interesting note the first LP by Kiss in my house growing up was Kiss Alive and my brother ended up being the Kiss collector back then but his copy had one label blue and one the second beinge label which i thought was interesting. I remember when I was like 12-13 I used to have an air band with my brother and older neighbor down the street and we would do concerts in his living room singing and air guitaring to the first three Kiss LP's ah the old daze!!!

When I was a kid we did concerts on the big red picnic table in our back yard, blasting Alive on the boom box and acting like Kiss. I guess most kids our age did that. Haha!

Smashes, Trashes isn't hard to find, but it's probably the one album that I listen to the least. The new songs aren't great and the others are all on other albums.

Scott Waters When the BC Lions won the Grey Cup, I wanted to play the biggest party album of I could think of on myradio show. So, KISS Alive was it! Let Me Go Rock n Roll on that album is one of the best songs in Rock History.

Another great video, Scott. Thank you. KISS has always been my favorite band. I discovered them in '76 after Destroyer was released. I was in fifth grade. However, I didn't get to see them live until the Asylum Tour in '86. To me, Asylum was a great album then, and it's a great album now. I love it. A lot of people, including KISS themselves, put down their eighties albums, but I thought they were great. The KISS Symphony Alive IV album is one of the six exclusives in the KISSteria box set, which I do own btw, so it will not be re-issued by Universal. At least not on black vinyl. If it is, I want my money back! ;)
I love Asylum as well. I think it's better than Animalize and all the non-makeup albums that followed it.

One of my uncles used to listen to KISS. I remember when I was little seeing posters of them at my Grandma's house.
I LOVE the fact that you do not pinch the vinyl on the edges with your thumb and first finger when taking the platter out of the sleeve. Big pet peeve of mine even though it is the edge as I would think you would want the lead in groove as quiet as possible and adding greasy finger prints to the edge attracts dust.
+deckerdf I hate touching the vinyl and it drives me nuts watching videos where others do. Sometimes you just have to pinch the edges, but most times it's safer to just slide the record out and hold it by the center ring and outer edge.

I'm 21 just got back into Kiss. They were my first concert back in 2004. I've had 4 CDs for the longest time and had periods of time for getting back into them. I just bought 6 more CDs and today is my bday so hope to help get a Kiss LP later today haha.

I'm pretty sure when I saw them on Animalize it was Queensryche opening. I also saw them with Tesla but I think that was the Crazy Nights tour.

You're missing Carnival Of Souls? Are Kiss singles that hard to come by in the US or have you just not got around to buying them? I've learned new things about Kiss records since i started watching VC videos,for example i didn't know Rock and Roll Over came with a sticker. Not sure,but i think i hadn't heard before this video that The Elder came with lyrics. I have a single sleeve version of it with the gatefold picture in the innersleeve. Hey Pasi. I have since obtained Carnival of Souls. Yes, Kiss singles rarely show up here. I've seen secured a couple more but none with picture sleeves. Yes, Rick and Roll Over came with a sticker. Also the Japanese version was a gatefold with a killer love shot in the middle.

Very good collection! I just got into collecting vinyls around December of 2014 and my goal is to get every Kiss record on vinyl and I must ask, why is that everyone wants the original pressing/as old as they can go instead of getting the re issues? Also is there any pressing of Carnival of Souls (1997) anywhere that you know of? Word on the street is its very hard to find
Mitch Arnholt Any "original" pressing of Carnival of Souls, as I understand it, are bootlegs and not official. However they do exist. I don't know why collector's prefer the original pressings. Perhaps it because they have the age that a re-issue doesn't have. Many times the re-issues sound better as they are pressed on a higher quality vinyl.
Learned alot that I've never given a second thought about all the different pressings. I'm a bit younger so I've never seen a blue label. Alive 2 was my first.
A lot of people like Alive 2 the best. I prefer the first Alive, but both are killer KISS IMO.

I'm fairly sure I have over 10,000 CDs. Been collecting those since the late 80's. Records I would have an obnoxious number like that too except I sold all my vinyl in 1990 and only started buying it all back in the late 20 years.

I just put sleeves on all my vinyl the other day I had more Kiss vinyl than I thought, I believe I bought most of it from Sentinel Steel he had a lot of it for 2 or 3 bucks.
The days when vinyl was cheap. Sentinel Steel use to do a cool magazine too. I still have a few copies of it somewhere.

Hey Scott I saw kiss in 77 I was 11 My father took my brother and I he and my brother have sinced passed away but I saw them again in 79 on dynasty tour I was 13 My mother took. me to that show I remember in 77 when my parents were already split she was on the phone with my dad saying Steve would you come take these kids to see kiss their driving me crazy lol yeah my elder is all messed up

Very cool that you got to see them in their prime. My first time seeing them was on the Animalize tour. Saw them twice that year, once at the Spectrum in Philly and once at the Meadowlands in NJ.

IMO Kiss is a band that I have to listen to visually. So I got a modest collection of DVDs. Kissology Vol 1, 2, &3 are great.So is Exposed and Kiss Konfidential with their MTV videos etc. My best one is a Brazilian edition KISS Animalize Live.
The Kissology DVDs are awesome! They are massive collections of videos. I've watched them all several times.

Hi just for something for you to research, i heard that on the Rock N Roll Over album there is a vision with a teardrop on Pauls eye very hard to find . What you do you know about it also i have a copy of Kiss the Singles LP Austarlian release only interested.
+Paulie V Very cool. I'd love to see that Australian pressing. As for the teardrop record, yes, I've seen it. A buddy of mine owns it. It's a very cool misprint with a CYAN spot from the printing press that lands perfectly under Paul's eye and looks like a teardrop. Very cool, even if it was a mistake.

Scott, I have a question about a copy of Ace Frehley's 1978 album I recently acquired: It says its a promo release, and the actual vinyl itself has serial numbers etched into it. There aren't too many differences,but one more noticeable is that in "New York Groove" Ace's vocals are different. The official release kinda has that distorted sound(only way I can describe it) but on my copy its much faster, and has cleaner vocals. Its very odd and if you have any insight on it, I'd be thankful for your time

on the back of my cd like the computer it says 1974, doesn't it make sense to release 1 studio album per year , back in the 1960's when songs were shorter bands like the Beatles released a couple of albums per year.

I never heard of that album killers the only album that I ever heard of killers would have been that Iron Maiden album. But Kiss killers never heard of, in your 1981 video I metioned that I never heard of the elder. so after solo albums and unmasked I never until this year never heard of those 2 albums.

+Mark Santucci Hi Mark. KISS debut was released February 18, 1974. Creatures was released in 1982.
Back in the 70's hard rock and heavy metal were not distinguished from one another. They were pretty much one in the same. Black Sabbath was heavy metal and hard rock. It wasn't until the 1990's that people really started making this big distinction between hard rock and heavy metal.
KISS - Killers is a compilation with a few new songs that came out between Elder and Creatures. Well worth picking up on CD or vinyl.
+Scott Waters (ultmetal) Killers is a German market compilations album with 4 unreleased tracks from The Elder sessions. I'm LUCKY I bought that as a kid. It wasn't some thing that was easy to find in the big box stores. Luckily I had a music store down the street that had a decent record section. Probably the first album where I carefully sliced the plastic with a razor blade and kept it intact. Bought that right after Luck It Up came out. I had just started collecting comics so keeping everything in perfect shape was suddenly very important to me. You should see my copies of Alive 2 and the solo albums. Fair at best. Subscribed!

Thank you for subbing and for sharing a bit of your collecting history with me. When I was a kid I didn't think of records as "collectible" either but much like you it didn't take long for me to recognize that keeping them in good condition was important.
The album was recorded in October & November of 1973, but the album was released on February 8,1974.
Question... I starting collecting vinyl a few months ago... starting with Kiss...& it was awesome at first holding the records I had as a kid again... but now it's getting frustrating... sellers inaccurately list albums... so excitement turns into frustration when you open the package & see the actual condition...& now feels like I'm collecting junk...lol... how did you build your Kiss collection, is this how collecting is, & would it be better to just buy the 180g reissues to cut down on the frustration? Thank you.
Matt Morbidity My Kiss collection started years before the vinyl resurgence. I’d just go with the 180 gram reissues. They look good. They sound fantastic. I also recommend reading any negative or neutral reviews on a seller. I have much less issues with Discogs sellers than I do with eBay sellers.

I have been trying to put together a 70's KISS vinyl collection and your video helped me figure out what is supposed to be in complete copies. I can't find a good list anywhere. If you wanted to do a video detailing those things I wouldn't be oppose.
I also have a question. Those solo album picture discs were released in the USA? I have never seen those before.

The solo picture discs were released in the U.S. in the 70's. Only two of the four I showed are original US pressings. The Paul Stanley and Peter Criss are more recent re-issues from Russia. The look nearly identical to the '78 US pressings but they actually sound a little better.

Another great video bro. Sure wish I treated my KISS albums better as a kid in the 70s and 80s. I eventually got rid of most of my original LPs cuz I played them to death and treated them like crap. Sigh.... haha !
+Jim Willis I think we all treated them like crap when we were kids. They weren't "collectors items" to us, they were just "music", if that makes sense. Haha! None of those KISS LPs I showed in this video were mine from when I was a kid. All of them are replacements.

I might have however, I know guys who have more KISS records than I have records in my whole collection. A buddy of mine has copies of every album from just about every country. Crazy collection.
I have a question about the promo LPs. Is the Love Gun promo a Santa Maria or Terre Haute pressing?

it is hard to pick one, urgh i'd have to say its gotta be the kiss expossed vhs tape cus well that has really earily earily stuff on it, and later stuff,
but no fave record gotta be the first and well its music from the elder, i got it in a chairty shop i think when i was starting in like 07' ish and it was i think £5 but it was kiss and i'd not seen it, so i brought it
+sirmugman The first KISS album is a great choice. Elder is a very different Kiss record, but I like it. I think Kiss just got away from what Kiss does best, hard 'n' heavy party rock. That's what people want from Kiss and "Elder" was a move away from that. Still, some great songs like "Dark Light" and "I" .
