The band got the name twenty one pilots when Tyler read an Arthur Miller play in college. The play was about a man who made equipment for warplanes and found out some of the things he made had a defect in them but rather than recall the defective parts he decided it was best to just let them go out and be put in the planes so that he would not lose any money. In the end his defect led to the death of twenty one pilots. SoTyler chose the name as a constant reminder not to cut corners to gain fame and fortune.Absolutely everything they do in shows, lyrics, music, production, and videos and even their websites and social media accounts has a meaningful purpose that is well thought out
Yes those are their real family members and pictures. The deep voice belongs to Blurryface who represents Tyler's insecurities and anxieties. Great reaction!!
You absolutely have got to see TØP in concert. It’s like a concert mixed with a magic show. They put so much thought into the stages and the performance. I can’t stop going!
I saw them last October in concert and it was probably the most emotional experience with music because I was able to live out my dream since I heard them this was actually the song that hooked me
I wish all TØP fans had this mentality. I went to my first concert of theirs in October as well at a small venue. Almost everyone I talked to in line was really mean to me because i "don't deserve to be here because I've never been to a big show and have only been listening to them for 2 years." They seriously made me think that the entire fan base was awful. Even the person who I went with was saying the same things to me. Saying that "I'm lucky to be here" and "the ticket should have gone to somebody who has been into them longer." It was really upsetting.
@@kellypg Goodness. They had a terrible attitude. I think it’s wonderful when music continues to reach other people... good songs deserve to be heard! It’s good to remember that the decent people are still out there... even if we can’t always see them 😭 Make sure you go to another concert just to prove your right! Hahaha
The song is about the stress of growing up and realizing how hard being an adult is and missing the easy days as a kid. And yes, those are their actual families. I think this was their first 'big' music video, and they filmed it in the street they grew up on, in their childhood homes and with their siblings and parents in it. It's great. This was the song I first encountered them with, because it was everywhere back then and the music video intruiged me.
My mother was murdered when I was 11, which is when I started listening to TØP. It's so crazy that around 6 months after I started they started blowing up, and when I was 14 this song was released and now it has almost 3 billion views (which is probably why you've heard it). I got a the "|-/" logo tattooed on me at 15, two years after my first suicide attempt, and although lots of people hated it, it always represented getting over a tough period in my life and I will always cherish it. I got pregnant later that same year which really brought this song close to me for a few months. It's amazing now seeing Tyler doing so much better and making music with a happier subject matter, even if I don't enjoy it as much. Him going from feeling unlovable to finding a wife, fame, and having two children and actually seeming happy for once is really inspiring and I'm really happy for him.
I definitely feel the same about being happy that Tyler is happy! Precisely because TOP has made music in such a diverse range of genres, I think people almost latch on to their sound from one particular album and get waaaaay too critical about the rest of their music. For me, the songs in Vessel will always be the ones that called to my soul and I am not sure that could ever be re-created, even by TOP, because Tyler and Josh are not in that stage of life anymore, which is totally fine!!! Just like your journey, TOP's music narrates a journey which changes, giving hope that even if you are in a dark place, things will change (Because life has a hopeful undertone 🤗). Even if the newer 'happier' songs do not strike the same cord with me, I still think they are amazing because of what came before, showing how far TOP has come.
It warms my heart to see someone get excited over my favorite band the way I do, even more so when they acknowledge the work and thoughtfulness the way you just did. Great video! Hope to see more twenty one pilots reactions in the future :)
I think you’d really like their song “holding onto you” it’s got some deep message’s! Love your videos thank you so much for taking the time to do them
Yes, that song is so deep especially the line 'tie a noose around your mind, loose enough to breathe fine and tie it to a tree tell it "you belong to me, this ain't a noose this is a leash and I have news for you, you must obey me" ' it's such a powerful message and really speaks to me personally, I understand it just can't figure out how to actually do that...
The deep toned intense singing you hear towards the end is Tyler playing a character named ‘Blurryface’ which represents Tyler’s dark thoughts and insecurities, which is also represented through Tyler’s painted black neck and hands. Which is why in the song you’ll hear him sing “Mine name’s Blurryface and I care what you think”
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial his neck (throat, vocals) and hands (song writing) is how he fights Blurryface. The album Blurryface is a bit of a concept album about his battles with Blurryface and the vicious circle and winning and losing battles. The following album “Trench” is a continuation of that battle but takes you deeper Into the concept adding a new world Tyler has created that help represent the battles going on and all of the Banditos that are with him trying to leave Dema and get beyond Trench but keep getting captured by their bishops and brought back to Dema.
@@thebluecollarbibleguy5114 OMG this is deep! I wish there was a “journey” of songs like we are doing with NF right now (52 song journey from beginning to now) to take us through there life and music. If there is, let me know, I’m in😁😁😁 thanks for offering all of this insight😊👍
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial There is a journey but I’m not the best to lay it out. But a good place to start is owed to sleep and the vessel album. Ode to sleep is a great video that’s done in a documentary style that follows the band as they progress over a few years. That song also has a lot of deep lyrics and imagery. I think you already covered car radio and migraine which would be around the time you watch “Ode to sleep”.Then you definitely would like to hit “Lane boy” which tells a story of who the band is (genre). By then I’m sure you’ll have many members of the clique sending you where to go next
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial I would love to lay this out for you. I’ve been a fan of twenty one pilots for 6 years now, been to four shows. I know it’s a heavy thing to say but I say it honestly, this band saved and changed my life. I don’t want to intrude but it would be such an honor to put a playlist together for you, I’ve really loved watching your reactions and hearing your insights. It’s such a joy to see someone react to these songs for the first time that mean so much to me. ☮️❤️
Speaking of slowing things down in relation to the amount of stress you have in your life - TØP has another song called Pet Cheetah and some of the lyrics are, "No, I move slow I want to stop time I'll sit here 'til I find the problem No, I move slow I want to stop time I'll sit here 'til I find the problem" And when I'm feeling stressed out, I'll sing that lyric to myself to remind my brain to slow down and focus on just one step at a time.
I'm a 51 year old mother and I love TØP . I went see them on their Trench tour and it was the best concert I've ever been to!! I will be seeing them again in September even though is will be over at hour car drive. I hope you do more of their songs. Morrissey/The Smiths also have lyrics that deal with serious emotional topics or Everybody Hurts by R.E.M.
this song was huge: "Stressed Out" debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart, giving Twenty One Pilots their first number one hit on the chart. The song spent a record 23 weeks at number one on the Hot Rock Songs.
You NEED to react to "Ode to Sleep" -by Twenty One Pilots, their music video is around six and a half minutes long but it allows you to see how they started to where they are now, and the song gives you a lot of insight to what drives their ideas in their music making :)
Brilliant idea Jon! Ode to sleep is a fantastic track and great to see their ‘come up’, the rap sections of the lyrics might be a bit challenging, they’re very fast and have a lot of biblical references, but I’m sure Tom would smash it!!!
@@aliseabbott7516 yep - Kitchen sink is another favourite of mine too! Great songwriting at such a young age - especially not coming from a musical Background at all!
I remember listening to this song back in second grade now im halfway through 6th grade I remember not understanding the lyrics i may not be that older but I definitely understand the lyrics allot more than i used to
These are real childhood homes and families in Columbus, OH This song is their most popular song ever and put them into world wide fame - the video has almost 3 billion views now but most people don't listen to the lyrics they just love the sound He talks about Blurryface, which is the name of this album- the concept of the album is the good and bad side of Tyler - Blurryface represents the side of him that has bad thoughts, insecurities, etc - that's also the dark voice at the end - that's Blurryface talking - it's also why he paints his hands and neck black because he's trying to cover up the insecurities in his music (writing and vocals)
Until I started going to these shows I never heard people (young people) in the audience constantly scream “YOU SAVED MY LIFE!!!” It’s an emotional experience. This video was shot in their parents’ homes. Everything about this band is extremely special.
About the smells thing: the smell of play dough always took me back to childhood. I loved it. But my ex-fiancé bought a cologne that smelled like play dough… 4 days before our wedding he had a mental breakdown and disappeared cause his father hung himself in our stairwell. As a result I lost my visa, lived as an illegal for 2 years before getting deported. That smell is so conflicting for me now.
I highly recommend "Trapdoor"! Thank you for listening to twenty one pilots and you should definitely see them in concert!! I got super excited that he got so excited! That made me so happy
Love your breakdown of the deeper side of Twenty Øne Piløts, lots of people hear their upbeat tunes and the great hooks, yet they don't realise how introspective and thoughtful the lyrics are - and this is a shame. I have suffered from depression and anxiety much of my life and gladly have found lots of refuge in music and certain musicians. Since I turned into my 40s I began to really push my limits and started going to see all the bands I love in concert whenever they toured in my area. Because I have unusual taste in music I have faced my anxiety and fears by go to see many bands on my own... I have had great experience every time, from Nine Inch Nails to these two guys Twenty Øne Piløts - I bought the ticket one hour before they played - I knew very l about them, but they were the second best live concert ever... I'm 49 now and I get to see lots of live music with friends and alone. The only thing that makes me feel totally alive and free. Thanks for your videos, and love to all! 🤗
Still watching, yes that’s their real families! And you mentioned singing during the concerts, yes!!! It was just so great. We really sang every song. Some parts it was just us singing lol
The smell of my mom...when she used to work. She started with Opium Obsession, menthol cigarettes, and Doublemint Gum. She's dead but I caught that smell one day and I almost cried. Dumb but I craved the smell.
I would love to see your take on twenty one pilot's song, "Screen" And yes, that's really their families, and this mv was recorded in their childhood homes.
their performance of Trees at the Fox Theatre is a perfect video of their live shows! they always perform Trees at the end of their concerts/shows. it’s like a prayer almost, and i would LOVE love to watch it live someday 🤞🏻 also, i can’t wait for you to react to Friend Please, Truce, Neon Gravestones, Redecorate, and especially their earlier songs :D
Great video, thanks so much! i am 65 and my wife is 61. We saw Twenty One Pilots in LA January, 15 2022. It was absolutely amazing. Tyler and Josh are amazing performers. Coldplay and Imagine Dragons played as well. It was one of the greatest concerts I've ever been to.
This song is so nostalgic now and it idk kinda makes me cry because the meaning of it like we r getting older and we are no longer young , our mom doesnt sing us to sleep anymore.
Great reaction! I recommend their song Ode to Sleep…but there are so many deep lyrics in it…I’d pull up lyrics next to the full official video to refer to while you watch. You can feel the pain and self doubt while he sings but the beat and change ups are awesome. I really feel that Tyler has a calling and puts so much pressure on himself to be what he feels he should be for God. Love this guy!
Oh my gosh. I never though I'd need those words, Tom. I've been super stressed out lately and now I'm silently crying when you started saying pace yourself. Do something managable... Etc Thank you.
I'm quitting my job of 17 years to save my mental health!!! I have found how much I am hurting everyday by going there. I feel so relieved! On to the next chapter!
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial Under normal circumstances, I would agree. I always tell people that when they talk about quitting a job. I just can't be there any longer than I have to and I don't have anything lined up. It's kind of freeing. I have vacation hours that I will be getting paid out to me, savings and a husband, so I am not worried about it. If it starts to take too long, I'll go work just somewhere until the right job comes along. It is awful. I am not scared. But thatnk you for being concerned.
@@asdband888 very nice explanation, that helps. Good for you looking out for you. I’ve always thought people should love there job and/or work environment, so I hope that appears to you soon…until then, enjoy the break and watch some reaction therapy!😊👍 and let me know your favorite songs, maybe we can react to one of them??😁😳
They say that no sense is more powerful than the sense of smell. Wouldn't that be of interest to a Psychotherapist? What with hypnosis and all? I mean, that's the common view.
Whenever I smell Noxzenma (it’s a cream my grandma wore) I’m flooded with childhood memories - not just memories but the way I felt as a 5 year old- hard to explain but I think that’s such a genius line about smelling something that takes us back to when we were young ☀️
Ok this video got me emotional. One of my favorite things in the world was discovering this band so watching you react to this brought back the excitement. I’m 42, I got into them in my early-mid 30s and I can honestly say this music did save my life. It’s the music my generation needed but instead we got the grunge-angst music, almost the product of what happens to people with untreated trauma, anxiety, depression, but this music shows you that you’re ok and you’re going to be ok and to use art as a way of making it through the darkness. I have a 15 year old and he sees what Tyler and Josh are doing and that helps him as well. I could go on forever but one last thing, yes the people in the video are their family. I’ve been very fortunate to be in the pit at these shows but mostly to sit near Tyler’s family at almost every show and they are really nice, Jenna too (for the Jenna fans). I actually fangirl pretty hard for Tyler’s mom, Kelly because she seems really cool. K, bye.
If you know German, Rammstein - Deutschland is a wild history ride of a love hate relationship for its people. The official video is of movie quality production too! 👌
When we were kids, it was okay if our imagination took center stage. You could do whatever, be whatever your imagination could conjure. Imagination and creativity comes naturally to a child. To me this song, at least in part, is asking the question “why do we have to quash our childlike ability to create things out of thin air?” Creative people never lose the connection, folding their life of imagination into their “real” world. It’s like “I don’t have to leave that behind in order to ‘make a living’. I can make my living by staying connected to that God-given gift of imagination and creativity, that sense of awe found in realizing just how creative and imaginative we can be.
I LOVE these videos! Twenty one pilots’ music has always been a consolation to me. It helped me feel less alone during times of anxiety, anger, and depression. Their music means a lot to me. Seeing how you address and explain how to take those feelings and move forward really makes me feel good! Appreciate you! Keep doing what you’re doing!
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial Anytime Doc, been here since the start supporting and I have no plans on leaving anytime soon. You help people, including me !
there's a sing from their older album regional at best called slowtown which you can say it's the same idea of stressed out but from Tyler's younger self and i think it's powerful how he expressed how he feels and in that song and I'd love if you checked it out and that was a very good reaction glad that you like them
Yesss! Twenty One Pilots! One day it is a dream of mine to also go to one of their concerts. Here is to hoping they will come one day to South-Africa. Great video! More top songs to go listen to is Level of Concern, Jumpsuit or Lovely.
If im correct the story behind their name is actually quite intresting. Todo with how there is a famous book( might be true history) called 21 poilets about how a guy used bad plane parts to make it cheaper for himself and up sell themit resulted in the death of 21 poilets due to the planes failing. They adopted the name because they never wanted to make cheap bad music just for the sake of making money they want there fan to have the best( or so I've heard)
Love this song and how relatable it can be! Lots of practical advice that you break down on how we can find a balance and not be so STRESSED OUT these days
Thanks so much Jacob! They did a great job showing how we have no stress when we’re little and then so easily lose that playful side as we get older. Balance is always good! Thanks for commenting😊👍
Yes, that is their real family members. Also the sets that look like a house are actually inside each of their respective childhood homes. The bedrooms they use are also Tyler and Josh’s childhood rooms. So cool
Haven’t read the comments so this may have been answered, but Yes! This is their family and the houses they grew up in-- sidenote for a recent reference, Josh’s brother (in the background desk in stressed out ) is also dude in Midwest Indigo on the side of the ice (what’s your ETA 2 minutes) next to Jenna (Tyler’s wife) bc Josh’s wife was working
Tom and Nick - you guys work ethic is crazy! So many uploads this week, thank you!!! Great reaction - tøp are my fav band and Eminem is my fav artist so I’ve loved the reactions this week!!! A top live show is like nothing you’ve ever experienced before! All age groups (I’m mid 40’s), all kinds of people and it really has a community feel! It’s never ‘us’ and ‘them’ - Tyler and Josh do a lot of work in the crowd, on different stages throughout the venue (where space allows) and really connect with fans. At the end of every show they say, ‘we’re twenty one pilots and so are you’ - and it really does feel like we’re all in it together! I find it difficult to relax, especially during my ‘work life’ where I practice commercial/construction law so can be very ‘straight laced’ and serious a lot of the time, but put me at a tøp show and I’ll be screaming at the top of lungs, laughing, shouting and then crying like a baby! Music gives me a release and is so important to me, it’s helped me through tragedy when I lost my daughter and the resulting anxiety/depression from that, helps me bond with my son and spend one to one time doing something we both love (he’s also a huge top and Em fan) and also helped enormously with the prescription meds addiction I developed when trying to cope with everything. Sorry for the long comment (again!) but wanted you guys to know how great this channel is and how much you’re helping people every single day! It’s so important! I have no doubt you’re an amazing therapist in ‘real life’ too Tom!
Emma! You rock, very well said and thanks for sharing a piece of you! I’m loving TOP so hopefully more to come soon! P.S. I don’t know how to do the funky “O” thing in top😂😂
"My name is Blurry Face, and I care what you think." A faceless inner critic. -- This is my favorite song of the 2010s. (I'm 71 and retired, but my poor kids are stressed out, which means my wife (their mom) is stressed out, which means I am caught up in it as well.
A cool song by twenty one pilots I really like is A car A torch A death (acatad for short) I really like it because the lyrics are very meaningful and that’s what made me fall in love with the band
This was the first TOP song I ever heard and I hated it. I felt like it was whiny millennials complaining about growing up. I would tell my kids not to listen to it. Later I started hearing more songs and hated how depressing they were. Later I started listening to the words and becoming interested in what sounded like biblical messages of faith. But still complained about the constant switch ups in the songs. Later I started enjoying the switch ups and thinking they kind of remind me of old DC Talk songs that were about struggles with faith. Later I saw that TOP are Christians and were influenced to some extent by DC Talk and started diving deeper into their music. Then my daughter started teaching me TOP lore and all I saw was Christian themes in all they do. Later I took my daughters to a show in the Bandito tour and walked out of there wondering why any other bands exist at all.
Omg I love this song and your reaction is amazing lol being awake at 5am watching your videos is the best a good start to the day. Thanks for the amazing video
Please try out Neon Gravestones by twenty one pilots as well. Out of the bands entire discography I would argue that this is one of the most lyrically powerful songs they have ever created.
T0P has a fantastic catalog that really dives deep into cognitive processing. Everything they make is a work of art. The official music video for My Blood is one of my personal favorites.
They got a Grammy for this song. It's great. Watch the Grammy acceptance speech. It's great, very funny. They spent like all night one night coming up with that handshake. They do it again in the nico and the niners video. They did it on stage in concert. They are super cool.
I'm so glad I found your channel! I'm from Ohio like Tyler and Josh and discovered them almost 10 years ago. Their music has always touched me. A year ago I had an extremely traumatic event happen and listening to them was part of my therapy to get through it. I saw them in concert in October. All of the expectations you have about their concerts is true! It was an amazing experience. You definitely need to go one day. 🙂
I actually have a question. ( This can be to the public too, since I'm not sure if Tom will see this or not.) Yes, putting too much pressure on yourself is unhealthy and very detrimental physically and mentally. However I do struggle to know how to talk with some of my friends about encouraging them to try new things, extend themselves outside of their comfort zone, and build their capacity to do more productive things. It is my impression that many people both in my cohort (millennials) and younger than me have become so used to the concepts of anxiety, overwork etc., that it feels like it has become the default 'excuse' people say to not do things, even if it would improve their quality of life in the long run. But people give up easily because it 'stresses' them out at first. My mindset is that stress is a reality which needs to be addressed BUT can be worked through, however it is not an end-all-be-all excuse to not do things. I often think of the concept of stamina, where it is not something you are born with, but you have to build it over time. This 'stamina' helps you accomplish things greater than you ever thought you can do. My 'stamina' has given me a belief in my capacity to do things, even if it is really hard at first. How do I encourage people without sounding callous about their anxieties? How do I tell people they do have the ability to do something even when they discount themselves and say they can't?
Very nice take Michelle! Thanks so much for addressing this topic. The world has definitely changed today and people are way less likely to get out of their comfort zone, so the best thing you can do is what you have been doing which is to encourage and to invite and to keep offering opportunity for people to do things they wouldn’t typically do. When I talk about taking pressure off of your life, what I mean is to slow down and not fill your plate so full with your schedule, but not to give up and retreat and isolate. So people have a hard time understanding that you still need to keep moving and you still need to keep growing and you still need to keep stretching yourself mentally and emotionally. Keep up the good work and thank you so much for this awesome comment!😊👍
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial Thank you for reading and answering.☺ It is a real gift how you are sharing yourself and your knowledge with the world, I wanted to let you know that is really is an inspiration and very much appreciated. 🤗
I love Twenty-one Pilots so much, almost any song you pick to listen to will leave a big impression. Chlorine is a really good one, but a few that've been stuck on my mind a lot lately are Fake You Out and The Outside as far as emotional songs, or songs that can rip you to shreds, Neon Gravestones coupled with Redecorate will have a strong effect. these ones, i will not listen to unless i need a cry.
I love this song!! I've heard that Tyler is kinda over it and doesn't like performing it now though. My son and I are going to see them in September 😁 Their secret handshake has 21 moves. My expectations are pretty much always low, which might be just as bad as having them too high -- "Expect the worst, and you'll never be disappointed" A good one for you would be "I'm Gonna Show You Crazy" by BeBe Rexha
Recently I had a blast from the past. I was walking down my road to the bus stop and I smelt the smell of fresh green beans. It may not be significant to you but to me it was. It reminded me of when I was very little and used to pick green beans on my fathers garden at my great grandmothers house. They also took care of it, kind of a family garden. I'm going into high school next year and this song has never been more relatable, I'm growing fast but slow. Idk what's going at all, I need help but no one to go to cause I don't want to worry anyone about me. I know how it feels to worry about the people around you and I don't want people to worry about me.. I don't even know how to express feelings. I always hide how Im sad and angry, idk what to do. I have hobbies, I listen to music to escape things and I'm happy but sad and scared and angry all the same time. What do I do?
All actual family members. The album vessel is their actual grandpas on the album cover. Twenty one pilots are so genuine and Iv loved them since they started becoming more than local in 2011
Fan of 21 Pilots and this song, first time watcher of your reaction videos. One of the best analysis of their song I’ve seen. You’re a gem, and I hope you continue this journey with us. I think you were spot on with a lot of your observations, and I think it will help a lot of people out. I appreciate you putting yourself out there.
that's the wonderful thing about exploring all the different hallways in music, you'll end up discovering so much wonderful new stuff. Serendipity is great. Love your channel !
It is so wonderful to see this music, the art and the artists through your eyes! They mean so much to me and are such an important part of my life. Thank you for including them. I think you'd be surprised how much it would mean for many of their fans to see you take to them this way. I hope you watch some interviews with them; they are absolutely delightful, playful and SO intelligent and intentional. Particularly choose the 30-60 minute radio station hosted Q&A's they do with fans (2018-2019), where they talk about "real stuff," not just promotional jazz. Also, any FaceCulture interview with Tyler on TH-cam is like a little therapy session in itself. Gosh, I just feel so lucky to be a fan alive to watch them do this crazy 10+ year performance art piece they are crafting. This thing is a rabbit hole with no bottom, as far as the storytelling and conveyance goes. Big themes run deeeep, but still tons of fun just on the surface.
The lead singer Tyler helped write the music for the new Disney movie encanto, the song surface pressure really has that twenty one pilots emotional feel. Really great song to review too
I aways liked this song, but I listen mostly to the songs that are not that well known in general now. I have them on repeat :) to stay with them I recommend "Friend, Please". And still for a new one: Citizen Soldier with for example: 'Pandora's Box, "Just be Happy", "If I surrender". Nice to see your channel grow!
Great reaction Tom, I’ve already left a comment that was too long and then forgot a couple of recommendations! Lol! You definitely need to check out some live tøp - almost anything from the Fox Theatre is epic, especially: Trees (Fox theatre version), not a lot of lyrics to break down as they are repeated a lot, but the build in the music and energy is next level! Holding on To You - one of my fav tracks, it would be amazing if you could do the official video and the live version (Fox theatre) in one video! I’m probs asking a lot, but the music video has some great imagery around the message of the song and is easier to pick up than it is with the live version. However, the live is just next level brilliance! Goner - defo Fox theatre version for this one, there’s no official video and the album version, while still great doesn’t hit anywhere near as hard as the live does!
Loved your advice and the positive things you pointed out about the lyrics! The sent of the old building to me is of like elementary school or grandparents house and the comforting feeling of it. They idea of scaling back on responsibilities to relieve stress is such a fine line for some of us. Reminds me of an idea a mentor had shared with me. I love helping others and she pointed out that I over help and it keeps me from helping myself. I was angry she thought my generosity was somehow selfish. She took a sheet of paper and demonstrated how I tear a little off and give it it away until there’s nothing left. Then explained how I had to recoup the parts I give away in order to keep investing in others. I was really blown away at the simplicity of it and reality that I can’t continue helping people without giving some to myself. Your reaction made a difference today. Thank you for being such a cool person! 💜👍🏻
Hearing this on my way to work, I love what I do, but sometimes I would like to pretend this never happened. We constantly talk about this at work at try to hold each other’s. It be like that sometimes
The smell for me is specific, a certain scent of one of my grandmas lipsticks. Occasionally I’ll catch a whiff of it. It pulls me back to being in her bathroom with her watching her apply make up. And then doing mine. She taught me a lot in life.
SoTyler chose the name as a constant reminder not to cut corners to gain fame and fortune.Absolutely everything they do in shows, lyrics, music, production, and videos and even their websites and social media accounts has a meaningful purpose that is well thought out
Awesome take, thanks for the info and thanks for watching!👍😊

Hahaha
This song definitely brings back memories!! Nostalgia!!
New nostalgia from the already nostalgic song! XD
@@Chaotically-Corey its double nostalgia
Holy shit yea
@@user-wt5vo3xh7d Exactly!!! By the way, amazing profile picture XD
Thanks so much for sharing Shelby! I really appreciate you watching and commenting😊👍
Thanks so much! I loved this one😊👍
Holding on to you is one of my favorites!
i LOVE holding onto you. It has to be my favorite tøp song, I love the way they perform it live as well
yes please!!!
This band has absolutely saved my life with there words. Definitely do more and great work 🤘
The deep toned intense singing you hear towards the end is Tyler playing a character named ‘Blurryface’ which represents Tyler’s dark thoughts and insecurities, which is also represented through Tyler’s painted black neck and hands. Which is why in the song you’ll hear him sing “Mine name’s Blurryface and I care what you think”
Now it all makes sense! Thanks😊👍
Speaking of slowing things down in relation to the amount of stress you have in your life - TØP has another song called Pet Cheetah and some of the lyrics are,
"No, I move slow
I want to stop time
I'll sit here 'til I find the problem
No, I move slow
I want to stop time
I'll sit here 'til I find the problem"
And when I'm feeling stressed out, I'll sing that lyric to myself to remind my brain to slow down and focus on just one step at a time.
That’s really cool! Thanks Renee😊👍
That's wonderful!
Thanks so much Amy! I really like your comments and thank you for watching 😊👍
this song was huge: "Stressed Out" debuted at number one on the Billboard Hot Rock Songs chart, giving Twenty One Pilots their first number one hit on the chart. The song spent a record 23 weeks at number one on the Hot Rock Songs.
The song make you feel.
". Yo. you even not kids anymore . You grown. You have your own responsbility. Wake up and do something for your family."
You NEED to react to "Ode to Sleep" -by Twenty One Pilots, their music video is around six and a half minutes long but it allows you to see how they started to where they are now, and the song gives you a lot of insight to what drives their ideas in their music making :)
Sounds perfect, thanks for that!😊👍
Agreed! Great comment
Brilliant idea Jon!
Ode to sleep is a fantastic track and great to see their ‘come up’, the rap sections of the lyrics might be a bit challenging, they’re very fast and have a lot of biblical references, but I’m sure Tom would smash it!!!
I second this, or the song kitchen sink. The lyrics really make you think about your life
@@aliseabbott7516 yep - Kitchen sink is another favourite of mine too! Great songwriting at such a young age - especially not coming from a musical Background at all!
I remember listening to this song back in second grade now im halfway through 6th grade I remember not understanding the lyrics i may not be that older but I definitely understand the lyrics allot more than i used to
Great point!😊👍
These are real childhood homes and families in Columbus, OH
This song is their most popular song ever and put them into world wide fame - the video has almost 3 billion views now but most people don't listen to the lyrics they just love the sound
He talks about Blurryface, which is the name of this album- the concept of the album is the good and bad side of Tyler - Blurryface represents the side of him that has bad thoughts, insecurities, etc - that's also the dark voice at the end - that's Blurryface talking - it's also why he paints his hands and neck black because he's trying to cover up the insecurities in his music (writing and vocals)
This is awesome! Thanks so much eric for sharing all of the insight! And thanks for watching😊👍
Also anytime red is in the video, like clothing, eyes, hair, on the bike etc it's blurryface or his insecurities making statements essentially.
I love how youre giving advice on how to lower stress levels during this. That’s awesome and much needed.
(His father was terminally ill and in a lot of pain, not depressed)
I highly recommend "Trapdoor"! Thank you for listening to twenty one pilots and you should definitely see them in concert!! I got super excited that he got so excited! That made me so happy
I remember playing Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare while vibing to this song and dubstep when I was younger
Great comments, thanks so much and thanks for watching 😊👍
"Work on your balance, you can't be happy if you're always falling over"

Still watching, yes that’s their real families! And you mentioned singing during the concerts, yes!!! It was just so great. We really sang every song. Some parts it was just us singing lol
The smell of my mom...when she used to work. She started with Opium Obsession, menthol cigarettes, and Doublemint Gum. She's dead but I caught that smell one day and I almost cried. Dumb but I craved the smell.
Those are actually the houses they both grew up in.
I would love to see your take on twenty one pilot's song, "Screen"
And yes, that's really their families, and this mv was recorded in their childhood homes.
their performance of Trees at the Fox Theatre is a perfect video of their live shows! they always perform Trees at the end of their concerts/shows. it’s like a prayer almost, and i would LOVE love to watch it live someday 🤞🏻
also, i can’t wait for you to react to Friend Please, Truce, Neon Gravestones, Redecorate, and especially their earlier songs :D
OMG this is a lot! Hopefully someday, thanks for watching😊👍
If I you wanna see a live you gotta do “trees” at the Fox theatre it’s simply amazing, the song is basically a prayer to god.
I have had the privilege of seeing them live 3 times.
They are OUTSTANDING!
They really put on a show.
Great take! Thanks for this! I’ll have to check it out!😊👍
Oh my gosh. I never though I'd need those words, Tom.
I've been super stressed out lately and now I'm silently crying when you started saying pace yourself. Do something managable... Etc
Thank you.
I'm quitting my job of 17 years to save my mental health!!! I have found how much I am hurting everyday by going there. I feel so relieved! On to the next chapter!
Make sure you have another job first😊👍
@@ReactionTherapyOfficial Under normal circumstances, I would agree.

I absolutely love that they have their parents and siblings in this. Their family are unofficial TOP band members. 😅
They say that no sense is more powerful than the sense of smell. Wouldn't that be of interest to a Psychotherapist? What with hypnosis and all? I mean, that's the common view.

I have a certain musty smell that takes me back to a specific time in Kona Hawaii 20 years ago
😂😂😂
K, bye.
Nostalgia comes in many forms, it’s overpowering for me, and I love it.
this song is making me tear up the NOSTALGIA
If you know German, Rammstein - Deutschland is a wild history ride of a love hate relationship for its people. The official video is of movie quality production too! 👌
I remember getting bullied for listening to this song. But fuck, take me back to them days. Things were more simple and easy
I hear you! Thanks for watching 😊👍
Very well said! Thanks for sharing this😊👍
I LOVE these videos! Twenty one pilots’ music has always been a consolation to me. It helped me feel less alone during times of anxiety, anger, and depression. Their music means a lot to me. there's a sing from their older album regional at best called slowtown which you can say it's the same idea of stressed out but from Tyler's younger self and i think it's powerful how he expressed how he feels and in that song and I'd love if you checked it out and that was a very good reaction glad that you like them
This is really cool! Thanks for telling me!😊👍
Love this song and how relatable it can be! Lots of practical advice that you break down on how we can find a balance and not be so STRESSED OUT these days
Thanks so much Jacob! They did a great job showing how we have no stress when we’re little and then so easily lose that playful side as we get older. Balance is always good! Thanks for commenting😊👍
I recommend reacting to Neon Gravestones that song is my personal favorite! Love the meaning and message behind it too
Yes, that is their real family members. Also the sets that look like a house are actually inside each of their respective childhood homes. The bedrooms they use are also Tyler and Josh’s childhood rooms. So cool
I would've never thought of it as a with yourself, instead of by yourself, thank you, and thank you Tom's therapist!
Haven’t read the comments so this may have been answered, but Yes! This is their family and the houses they grew up in-- sidenote for a recent reference, Josh’s brother (in the background desk in stressed out ) is also dude in Midwest Indigo on the side of the ice (what’s your ETA 2 minutes) next to Jenna (Tyler’s wife) bc Josh’s wife was working
always enjoy the reactions tom, can't wait to see what's next👀
Thanks jaynel! I can’t wait either!😊👍
Wet we said Bible guy! I like it, learning from our children is AWESOME!👍😊
Omg I love this song and your reaction is amazing lol being awake at 5am watching your videos is the best a good start to the day. Thanks for the amazing video
Thanks so much for this comment! It made my day!😊👍
Please try out Neon Gravestones by twenty one pilots as well. Out of the bands entire discography I would argue that this is one of the most lyrically powerful songs they have ever created.
T0P has a fantastic catalog that really dives deep into cognitive processing. Everything they make is a work of art. The official music video for My Blood is one of my personal favorites.
Fairly local is a fun one as well, that dives into his duality or intrusive thoughts. Cool imagery in the video also
They got a Grammy for this song.

I love Twenty-one Pilots so much, almost any song you pick to listen to will leave a big impression. Chlorine is a really good one, but a few that've been stuck on my mind a lot lately are Fake You Out and The Outside
as far as emotional songs, or songs that can rip you to shreds, Neon Gravestones coupled with Redecorate will have a strong effect. these ones, i will not listen to unless i need a cry.
Finally, a reactor with good audio quality!
I love this song!! I've heard that Tyler is kinda over it and doesn't like performing it now though. My son and I are going to see them in September 😁 Their secret handshake has 21 moves.
My expectations are pretty much always low, which might be just as bad as having them too high -- "Expect the worst, and you'll never be disappointed"
A good one for you would be "I'm Gonna Show You Crazy" by BeBe Rexha
Ima!!!!! Great comment, I wish I was going to see TOP in concert, sounds like a blast….thanks for taking the time to comment👍😊
This is one of those songs that defines a generation.

Actual family members. Actual neighborhood. Actual family homes.
That’s amazing!!!😁😁😁
The lead singer Tyler helped write the music for the new Disney movie encanto, the song surface pressure really has that twenty one pilots emotional feel. Really great song to review too
I aways liked this song, but I listen mostly to the songs that are not that well known in general now. I have them on repeat :) to stay with them I recommend "Friend, Please". And still for a new one: Citizen Soldier with for example: 'Pandora's Box, "Just be Happy", "If I surrender". Nice to see your channel grow!
Thanks so much for your comments and support 😊👍
Great reaction Tom, I’ve already left a comment that was too long and then forgot a couple of recommendations! Lol!
You definitely need to check out some live tøp - almost anything from the Fox Theatre is epic, especially:
Trees (Fox theatre version), not a lot of lyrics to break down as they are repeated a lot, but the build in the music and energy is next level!
Another great comment from Emma! Thanks for your amazing recommendations, you know they’re on the request list now, right!😊👍
Can’t imagine him bumping lil peep and xxxtentacion.
Hang in there…SOON😁😁
Thanks so much Nina! Beautiful and perfect example, I love it…and thanks for watching!😊👍
MORE OF THEM for sure
You will never be the same after attending a TOP concert. I mean that in the most positive way!
Yes!! Those are their actual relatives in the video!
