proper rallying by real men in proper cars with a proper challenge laid out in front of them. Glory days that will never be seen again in todays namby pamby elf-n-safety environmentally friendly politically correct world. I am so glad to have been a part of this era, and I wouldn,t cross the road to watch the rallyists of today, with their mediochre driving abilities and their massive egos.
paddy power ,I know I'm 6yrs late but you are 100% correct, not all the WRC sh*t you see in today's so called rallying, today they are rapped up in cotton wool, full of electronics the cars do half the driver's work, they had balls of steel back then 550-750hp,and spectators (the one's who invented the board game called Guess Who),the crazy arses who stood with one eye closed looking down the Len's of a sh*t Polaroid camera (tring to identify the driver's coming towards them)before jumping out to one side before it's too late, but that was real rallying,
I was in Killarney that weekend. They swapped seconds all weekend until the final night when Vatanen went off the road and the time was never recoverable!
Brilliant driver himself john Lyons has to be the 2 best irish drivers ever Lyons just hadn't the cash James Cullen is up thier to 1988 Donegal rally he was beatin the works ford Sierra cosworth team driven by mark lovel in a old out dated ragid 400 ascona
