- On my most challenging canoe trips to date, my brother @XanderBudnick , @TheRealTedBaird@TheRealTedBaird , @JimBairdAdventurer , @ExploreTheBackcountry and our buddy Cam descend the notorious Dog river to the Lake Superior coast. Great fishing cooking on a campfire with friends.
No way you don’t have 100k subs minimum. Your videos are such an amazing experience.
Thanks, man! I really appreciate that!
agreed!!
I really agree with the above.. I’m subscribed to his brother’s channel and he’s a pretty amazing guy also with top tear content. ❤❤
Agreed! This is beautiful
100% agree. Great content n a super nice guy 😊
This has to be in the top 3 of your best canoe videos. What a great adventure with friends and Xander. BTW having seen all your videos , I have never seen you smile and laugh so much. Pure joy. Good for you brother
haha ya Darrell we had such a blast! All the guys were so much fun it was an amazing crew
Family and friends and a shared experience. What life
Is all about! Good on you Max!
IMHO, TED gets the ***GOLDEN DOG*** award/trophy….NO spills, NO falls, NO injuries, NO complaints, NO excuses…..all with a badly busted up canoe !!! BRAVO !!!
PLUS……I think he caught the most fish !!!
Ted is such an outstanding guy - an absolute pleasure to spend time with. I fully support the Golden Dog going to him!
You're mistaken here - Jim caught the fish!
@@maximbudnick Jim also gets MAJOR KUDOS for his operatic voice that echoed through the wild. They call him the “Paveroti of the North Country”. When he sings those slow songs, it’s enough to make a moose cry !!!
Maxim, I so enjoyed watching this video! I watched Zander's last week and now yours. You each have your own style and I enjoy both! I especially enjoy your bird shots and footage!
Thanks for the feedback Shirley! I enjoy the birds as well :)
Love all the little birds you highlight along the way
Thanks! I like them too
Yes me too ✋️ ❤
Same here 🙋
Nice to see little bird lovers.Little birds bring magic
@@kjames8299 with Maxim we can withness the nature around the trip
Fantastic...I know it was your great pleasure to bring this adventure to us; trust me, it was mind to view it! Great job, Max.
Thanks, Brant. Glad you enjoyed it!
As someone who watches these types of videos on a big screen TV....THANK YOU SIR for uploading in 4k. And....awesome video
You are very welcome!
Everyone read and like:
Max can you do a behind the scene video showing what goes into preparation, setting up cameras, bloopers and over all stuff you guys have to deal with like wearing wet shoe all day, food preparation and etc...
❗If anyone also like to see this click like ❤️ so Max knows how many of us want to watch it.
Hey Filip! that is a good idea. I will have to think about it and try something like that in the future.
I enjoyed Xander's video of this same trip, and I'm totally into seeing this adventure from your unique perspective.
I am always glad to hear that!
@@maximbudnicksame here! You have such a different perspective and I am here for it!
Wow! What a great video Max. Beautiful. You captured nature at its finest and most powerful! I was blown away by the physical exertion of all of the guys! And the great teamwork! The Bald Eagle shot was magnificent. Thank you
Thanks for your support Nicholas! it was a lot of effort but really rewarding because of it!
Imagine waking up to a new notification: Max Budnick uploaded new video... Time? 1:54:51
As fast a possible make a coffee some toast and click play.
Yep.. It's going to be a good day! Thanks Max keep up the adventure!
Thanks so much Filip! I am experimenting with a longer video. This is the longest one by far.
@@maximbudnick well Max I think near 2 hours is a bit long at tho I like it. But from creator point of view and TH-cam maybe do part 1 and part 2 each being one hour long perhaps..
Videography is excellent! I really like the way you ‘tell the story’…..candid, real stuff….and I love the shots and chit chat around the campfire. Great stuff Max!
Thanks, Mike! I really appreciate the feedback on the storytelling, which is the toughest part for me. It's difficult to speak in an earnest tone when you are talking to a camera lens. Cheers and thanks again!
Hi max what a cracking journey fulfilling and tiresome those portages looked killer man ,hard going as well as filming it all and dealing with obstacles when carrying a canoe defo need to be on top of your game on this trip. The canoe that broke loose due to the lone snapping was a heart stopper for sure glad you all have your wits about you was defo hairy and thankful no one got hurt this was one of the best trips and I’m sure you will agree with great friends and brother thanks for both sharing loved the journey take care and wish you well 👌👍🚣🏻🚣🏻🔥🔥⛺️⛺️❤️
Thanks Peter! Ya the falling canoe was a hairy moment. It was hard but super rewarding!
@@maximbudnick rewarding and beautiful what's not to love about this journey, amazing ♥
Maxim, add a pound of bacon to your dehydrated beans and you won't even need a paddle. Damn the ozone full speed ahead.
Indeed Bart I would attest to this! I was just lazy though and wanted a quick breakfast without having too cook anything involved. Thanks for watching!
That fall looked pretty brutal. Glad you came out on the upside.
Ya the fall was definitely brutal. I had a moment on the ground when I had to check because I expected to be injured. Glad I wasn't.
Great adventure great crew and masterful photography as usual !
Congrats on the new canoe !
Thank you Anne Marie! The canoe was awesome this trip!
Whoa, I had to re-watch that crazy rogue canoe at least five times. I'm so glad no one was hurt. :-)
Hi, Mirkatu! Hope you've been having a great weekend. Yeah that was pretty scary stuff! Important to be on your toes and alert when there is a big heavy object being lowered above you - Tom and Jerry made this very clear on numerous occasions... :D
@@maximbudnick Hahaha! 😆
Thanks for the hard work and the seat by the fireside. Great camaraderie! It's one of the things no one can fake. It's 100 degrees here in Florida and your statement about Superior's clean crisp air almost got me in my Jeep.
Florida is absolutely beautiful but Florida in June seems like a bit much. Glad you enjoyed!
Great white watering!! I love your videos, always a great adventure and your eye for the beauty of nature in your environment and your being able to bring it to all of us for relaxation and enjoyment. Dehydration works great, takes up less space and still tastes great!!! Till your next adventure Max, take care my friend and keep the videos coming!!! Later
Thats very kind of you Jim, thanks a lot!
So excited for this one! Loved Xanders video about this trip so I know this is going to be a good one!!😍😍
Hope you enjoyed it, Maarten!
Hello, how good these rapids are beautiful forests, the noise of the water relaxes me, what beautiful places and the names of the birds, oh very good 👍🌞🖐️
Thank you Adrian. I love the noise of water as well - it relaxes me. Lots of people find it difficult to sleep next to them - but for me the sounds are like a lullaby! Cheers and thank you for watching!
Ive been watching everyones vids of this trip, they have been great. But totally love how u start out with the crazy Boat Bomb almost took out poor Xander! love Xandar , and love all u guys ! great fun, love from Michigan
Hello Erin and greetings from Ontario! Thanks for stopping by and watching, despite all the other opportunities to watch a video of this trip! Really appreciate the support... Have a great rest of your weekend!
The intro caught me….so I stayed.
I follow Xander.
If a major SUV company knew how much fun you crazy Canadians bring us viewers albeit vicariously, they would give you all brand new vehicles. It would be the best advertising dollars they could spend.
Hey, Bart! Hah that would be nice... Thanks for the encouragement! Cheers buddy
Scenery, adventure, editing, commentary, company, Beautiful!👀
Thank you very much!
This channel is my happy corner 🙏
Great Video!! Has been fun watching each one of your versions of this trip...
Thank you for watching my version, Dave! Hope I was able to show a few different angles. Cheers and thanks for the support!
I look forward to the unexpected shots of pure beauty you are able to find and show us. Thank you!
My pleasure, Lana! Hope you found nature shots you liked :)
Max, thanks for the bird id's. Unexpected treasure of this great video. Good style and sounds of the woods/water!
Thanks, Charlie! Glad you liked it. Hopefully I got all the bird ids correct. It can be tricky! Thanks for watching
Thank you for the uplaod! Great adventure folks!
My pleasure! Thanks for stopping by!
So I have been practicing mindfulness for many years. You would do great as a guided meditation speaker.
Thank you, Arthur! That is a very nice compliment - specially because I have never felt like a strong public speaker. Thank you for watching my video. Enjoy your weekend :)
love watching your brother, Jim and now you thank you all i really love your adventure thank you for sharing
My pleasure, thanks for watching
Wow ❤loved every second the first second and third time viewing ❤❤.. epic nature shots .. you are a great narrator what an absolutely nail biting trip you took us on thank you Max.
What an amazing trip! Those portages looked absolutely grueling. Even so, your video made me want to get out canoe tripping more badly than ever. Stunning video, Max! Thanks for taking us along (and for naming the cute little birdies).
Thanks! I am glad my video had that effect on you!
Love your choice of music. Beautifully curated and love how it doesn’t compete with the visual beauty you’ve captured in your video. Well done sir 👏🏼
Thanks! Selecting music takes a lot of time so I appreciate that!
I get it! I’ve been producing music for years so can definetely appreciate your choices. Next level buddy 👍🏼
Those few seconds in the beginning.... and then the music intro. Glad yall made it in one piece! The camping and paddling around the bay at the end...what beautiful country yall have!
Love it! Watched yours, Xander’s, and Jim’s. All great and very different story telling. Great cinematography!
Hey thanks a lot man! Really appreciate it. I have been watching and enjoying your stuff for a long time.
@@maximbudnick Appreciate it! One day we'll have to do a river trip together. I'm really jealous about that Dog River trip... :) Type 2 fun at its best!
Just a beautiful river and always fun to watch all you guy's run rapids 👍 I really enjoyed your version of the trip with the high quality of filming & editing with music & bird identification. Great job 👏 👍 thanks so much for sharing this adventure with us ❤
Glad you enjoyed it!
Magnifique! Amazing! What fun! Watching the videos of this trip so far, has taken me through a gamut of emotions... anticipation, nervousness, happiness, etc. I swear, I could even feel the physical aspects of it. I felt tired, sore, energetic, adrenaline filled, pride from challenges that were accomplished! Thanks for taking us along! What a wonderful group of macho, macho men! 😀👍❤
hahaha so macho! thanks!
Epic. Gonna save this one for tomorrow night.
Hey buddy thanks for the support. Hope you enjoy it
I love the sound of water all throughout this video. Last year, I was feeling a lot of anxiety. I couldn't sleep unless the tv was on. I had put yours and Xander's videos on a loop while I slept. Your videos are so comforting. I am truly grateful to have found your channels. ❤
Also, how heavy is your canoe?
Hello Amy! I also listen to videos mostly history channels going to bed. I find it helps a lot. It means a lot to me to hear that coming from you! My Canoe is about 55 pound 🙂
Bravo Maxim! You made a fantastic video of what may be the most technical water route in Ontario. The geography and wildlife are superb as is your drone footage. Most enjoyable canoeing wilderness video.
Thanks Michael! The dog was incredible.
You could have stuffed the potatoes in the muffler instead of the foil paper. Probably would have been done baking by the time you got to your destination. Beautiful trip for all of you.
I like your thinking! Thanks for watching :) Cheers!
excellent editing from the start and great story telling. Thanks for taking us along on your awesome trip.
Thank you, Ken! And thanks for stopping by
Another amazing video. I’ve said it before and will keep saying it, your editing is fantastic. It the same trip I’ve seen twice already) Jim and Xander) but this a most not a repeat but your own video
Keep it up ❤️😎
Thanks! I appreciate that. I try my best to make it my own especially on group trips like this
I’m so proud of you for pushing through this and coming out safe and more experienced 😊. Well done 👍. Great video! I almost had to make me a coffee with rum but I had faith that it was going to be okay 👍.
Hey Rebecca thank you! Now I wish I had made the video scarier - so you could enjoy that coffee with rum! 😅
Just finished Xander’s video the other night. Can’t wait to check yours out!
Make sure you watch Jim Baird version too. If you haven't.
@@filipsaprkin I’ll check it out, thanks!
Thanks, man! Hope you enjoy/enjoyed it!
@filipsaprkin great recommendation!
Before I watch this video I press the like button and as well as commented 🤷♂🤷♂because I know it's gonna be a great video🖤 btw it's becoming my favorites channel nowadays 🖤🖤
Thank you for your support, Adric. You taking the time to like and comment is very kind - these are the kinds of things that help my channel grow, and it is very much appreciated! I hope you enjoyed the video!
@@maximbudnick Yeah I enjoyed a lot man🤸♀🖤 but I just wonder why your channel have just about 20k subs!! why not over FIVE HUNDREDS THOUSANDS??? it's strange asf.
So far I've seen Xander's and Ted's version on this trip. And now this one and every one of them has been really great, You all show different things and you're excited about different parts.I love your footage of been in the water going down the water. It was wonderful. Looks like an amazing trip and it certainly is one of the most amazing rivers.I think you've ever gone down. Thanks so much for all the work you do and for sharing, What a great bunch of guys to travel with. God bless you❤
Max, great videography. And can I thank you again for naming the birds, a great boon for a non Canadian.
Keep making them and I'll watch them!
Quite the adventure. Lovely videography. I enjoyed the music, especially the piano/violin duet which was perfect for that moment. Stunning bird shots; flowers too. Thank you Maxim for your beautiful work. As always, your insights and commentary were excellent.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the feedback! You are appreciated!
From all the 3 videos/versions I've watched of this trip, yours is the most cinematic 👌 Beautiful shots nonstop.
Thank you, Adeline! That means a lot because I enjoyed the other videos as well! Thanks for stopping by!
A Incredible Adventure
Thanks! it really was
How fun it is to watch the same trip from different viewpoints. Thanks guys.
What an unbelievably amazing journey. You did such a wonderful job capturing and conveying the realism of the nature, danger, fun, adventure, and camaraderie that you experienced along the way. Thank you for taking us along.
You are very welcome, it was my pleasure!
You take some really amazing shots! Take 3.
Thank you for watching, Catal! Cheers!
This was exciting to watch. You guys all did great. I'm not even a canoer, my son turned me on to all these Backcountry trips. He's into them. But I do enjoy watching them. I love being in nature so it's fun to watch these. I am however a huge bird nerd, and I absolutely love the bird clips you add to your videos. Lol! You have some great skills videoing them. Warblers are tricky too. They are so quick and so small. It's a challenge all on its own to get a good shot. 😊
Hello Chris and thank you so much for watching and for your kind comment. I've always loved the birds when out in nature, but getting into bird photography/videography has come as a bit of a surprise - I've learned to love it so much! You've got some nice videos yourself - love that one with the cardinal swaying in the wind - the swaying gives it such feeling and I love the character i the birds face and head movements. Cheers and thanks again for stopping by!
Awesome guys and Awesome footage! Thanks for sharing this Awesome trip 👍🇺🇸🗽🇺🇸👍
The Vermonter
Thank you, Lambert. My pleasure to chare as always! Greetings from Canada!
I am loving watching all your different videos on this one Max. What a great crew! So glad you are happy with your new Esquif and your thoughts on being alone vs. with a group certainly resonate. Thanks for the amazing bird (love that you identify them!) and loon footage ❤. I think there needs to be a spot for a travel guitar in the new boat 😉 And may I suggest carrying an eye cup and small bottle of normal saline in your First Aid kit for eye issues such as foreign bodies to flush those out. Small and easy to carry and invaluable no matter where you are. Feeling carefree, quite simply the best and it showed ☺️ Much appreciation Max and hope you will have many more adventures this summer 💜 B
A very enjoyable video. Thanks for sharing Maxim. Your whitewater canoeing skills have improved immensely. Great to see you enjoying running rapids so much.
Many thanks Jay! I certainly improved on this trip.
Wooau! What an intrepid trip, crazy with so many rapids, a truly incredible trip thanks to everyone 👋🍺🍻
Hello, Adrian1 It really was an unforgettable trip! Thanks for watching
Your best video production to date Max. You guys are an awesome team and so well-balanced. What a group of beasts for the Dog! This will be an experience you all will savour for many years.
Love your videos, you capture the scenery, sounds everything! Good job Max!!❤️👍🇨🇦
Thank you, Lucy! Have a beautiful rest of your Sunday!
Loved loved loved the shots of the moon and moonlight on Superior! What and adventure all around.
Glad you enjoyed it! I loved being on superior as well.
Wow, another awesome video. Like I mentioned before, you have a great eye even though this trip didn't allow much time for creative filming. What an awesome river, but I really feel bad for Eddy...I just hope he had his own tent-lol.😝
haha nice Paul!
Holy smokes Max! I’ve loved all your videos, but this is next level! Your cinematography is insane! Thanks for sharing this one.
Also, it was great meeting you the night before the trip out at NSA. Thanks for chatting with us and letting us hang with you guys around the fire!
The pain for no fish...I could never..
Oh you just wait till later on...
@maximbudnick goodness man those clips of the canoe coming down hill and the biff down the slope...harsh stuff... was fishing just not a plan atall?
Fantastic! I paddled the Dog 50 years ago. Now I want to dig out my photos. Glad to see you're not one to say you conquered the river, but rather just enjoy it and natures beauty.
Wow, I love to hear that you did that. It was an incredible trip. Its all about taking it in.
Subscribed when I saw you naming the birds. Thanks
Hello and welcome, Mika! Thank you for subscribing! Glad you liked the bird ids :) I'll continue to do that!
I just drove the Superior circle tour. I love superior! Enjoyed the time in Canada saw my first moose and black bear. What a fun video - great job. Your smile lights up the forest 😊
Thank you for such a kind comment! Wow first time seeing a black bear and specially a moose... Very special! Aren't they beautiful?!
@@maximbudnick yes for sure. I’m in lower Michigan we have bear in the UP but never saw one. Still looking for the bull moose 🫎 with the big rack. Out here in Yellowstone now hoping for a safe grizz sighting too !
This and Xander’s amuses me that after all that gruelling exercise you still have energy to toss rocks at the river. Incredibly fit guys❤ Lucky you ~ so love to watch ~ now especially since I couldn’t do anything like this anymore❤ Maxim I love your zen style too 💕
Hahaha we were all a bit beat up but we were having such an amazing time it just felt natural.
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing. 👍
Thank you very much!
You put this one out of the park Maxin! Enjoy you vids, and and the way they're edited. Keep em coming!
I love how you slip in those nature shots, the story telling and soft background music. Premier film making Maxim. Inspirational.
Really appreciate that man! Means a lot to me
Fantastic video. One of your best. Xander didn’t mention the muffler problem in his video. Must have been too embarrassed 😂😂
haha not at all. He just had to leave for another trip which he is on now and probably just cut some corners to push the video out.
Excellent video Max ~ loved it & is one of the best we’ve seen.
Thank you again, Lori. You are too kind. Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent thumb mate, well done!
Thanks brother! Been trying to put more effort into my thumbnails recently. Hope you are well!
@@maximbudnick I don't blame you mate they are SO important! All is well here thank god 🙂 Keep on adventuring!
Great video! Be sure to tie your barrels and gear down in the canoe so it’s doesn’t shift. It will make compote stable and less dumping.
Thanks! Ya I do for longer rapids (I use a bungy) There was so much in and out that often I would not for expediency. Also when scouting I usually take one barrel and my camera case to the the end of the rapid to set up the shot out of principle I try not do any rapids with my camera gear:)
Dog River is such a spirited course! The many baptisms were inevitable, eh? An awesome adventure boys.
Haha yes we fell in the water several times. Everyone except Ted! Thanks for watching!
Fantastic as always. What an awesome adventure.
Thank you, Rita! Hope you had a great weekend. Cheers
Absolutely loved watching this what an amazing trip❤
Thanks so much Lynda!
Great images. Love that you’re paying attention to (and giving an ID) for the warblers. I enjoy your short video “portraits” of water, plants and people. Respects the place and sets a context for the action.
1:10 > Eddie Hopping music. Your video version was great. Keep it up!
A-MAZing Video!!! ❤️❤️❤️Thank you
My pleasure, Cindy. Thank you for watching!
Real good intro, liked the birds, I don’t see many of those, beautiful rocky river the drone shots really fit in well and gave good perspectives to the rapids. Thanks for all that tough travel, great trip
Thanks, Bruce! Hope you've been having a nice week. Cheers!
Wow they weren't kidding that green canoe needed a lot of duck tape amazing it still got them home. Enjoyed the video and the wildlife highlights
Love the longer vid. I imagine this full journey was an incredible feat to edit.
Great content Maxim.
Hah yes it was quite the editing marathon! Very happy to hear you like the longer format - I really wasn't sure if people would respond well to it or if it was worth it....
So awesome, I watched it twice!
Wow! I'm honored, Allison! Hope you've had a great start to your week...
Love the way show us the names of the birds etc. helps so much and your photography is awesome. Thanks so much. I’m hooked.
Epic trip Max! I was out filming on Saturday and tripped and fell on a rocky area. Hit my head causing a brain bleed, 3 broken ribs and a partially collapsed lung. It was really nothing of a fall, but caused traumatic damage. I was lucky to get to a hospital by myself. Kept overnight and luckily released the next day. All to say, you and Xander please stay safe out there and enjoy. Take care man. Hope to run into you both someday. I'm in Ottawa.
Another terrific video from one of my favorite TH-cam stars. Outstanding!
Glad you enjoyed it Irene!
T-Formex for the win! So glad we were able to help you out with the canoe man you absolutely nailed the trip. Great job documenting everything you’ve got me itching to get out there!
Absolutely man! It performed perfectly! T- formex for the win for sure. You would be surprised how much that was a topic of conversation throughout the trip. But you got an incredible trip coming up! Can't wait to see the result!
@@maximbudnick cheers brother I’m so happy it worked out for you! Hope to see you on the water some day soon
I really enjoyed your videography, including the fine bird shots and name identifications.
Thanks a lot Michael! Much appreciated!
Now that was really something Maxim!! Well done and what an achievement with great teamwork and individual effort. The choice of music and editing to complement the segments was great. Even though I am not a classical afficionado, the baroque music for the wave train at the end of the Dog River was a nice touch to reflect the vibe. Keep up the great filming and be safe:)
Thanks a lot Mark! I appreciate the feedback on music ect. I appreciate your support!
Max, Congratulations on a fantastic video. I think the best TH-cam video I’ve watched. Adventure, wildlife, drama and absolutely stunning videography. The pace of the presentation was great. Congratulations.
Wow, thank you! That means a lot to me.
Classic Xander moment where he jinx his own misfortune. A certified Xander moment in fact. I get the feeling he’s done this before…perhaps in his childhood.
Certified Xander moment INDEED haha
Maxim thank you for sharing your video. That look like a trip of a lifetime shared among friends.👍 enjoyed the birds with the names. Great photography and drone shots. Eddie hopping with a nice violin and piano music playing it was 👏.
Thanks Raymond! I was experimenting with that scene and I am glad you enjoyed it!
Wow! A spectacular adventure with an equally spectacular video to showcase it! Glad you challenged yourself a bit, must feel good to say you did rapids, even with a tip or three! As always, stunning natural videography as well! Water, moon, birds, landscape, allows us to see what you see and appreciate all your efforts even more. I also enjoy listening to your reflections about your trip.
Thanks a lot for your feedback! it was a great trip🙂
Thanks again Max ..you've some talent with your camera and editing..I've enjoyed every ones adventure..and the birds ...well there is nothing like their live music!..Best wishes to you all.
Thanks! I totally agree david, I really enjoy the birds as well!
