Its probably referencing police brutality as a whole, since those events just barely happened, and this song was probably recorded well before those events.
1missing Thats a very good point you bring up. He probably wrote the lyrics referencing it as a whole but when Ferguson happened it probably gave them more reason to release the track
AMAZING. Hail the sun, Hail the Blue Swan. Hail The Sun, Sianvar, DGD. Stolas and Kurt need to have a Super Swan tour that atleast comes over to us in the East.
whats your point? DGD is really the main project of everyone in secret band and DGD has the most music i wanna hear live and if I want Sianvar that means Will Swan aswell as others would already be pullin double duty.
TheStarlord My point is that you left out a band that's on the label. If it is a tour consisting of all of them, Secret Band would be on it. Not a big deal, just saying.
I mean they'd all be there and if they wanted to do it it would just be part of DGD's set probably i see what your saying and i left out other bands on the label too. How bout The super swan tour just has a super secret after show?
Seeing the police be violent for no reason, I immediately thought of these lyrics ( & the ones from _"The People Who Protect Us"_ ) like he says, _"you are nothing when you take away the gun",_ I'd love to see the police try the same without their guns & other equipment; they're cowards
I feel that maybe the reason why people feel that theyres something missing from this that was on elephantitis is mainly due to the lyrical content and how structured the songs feel now. If you look at the two songs they released this year (this and hanging revelation) youll see the serious and much darker tone they are lyrically rather than the wittiness in elephantitis. Maybe we are hearing these songs to perhaps, prepare us for the fact that hey, although they can write songs like they did on elephantitis, they can write songs that are much more serious and dark too. And besides they did say this album had a lot of songs so im sure theres something for everyone anyways.
I agree with what you're saying. Elephantitis was an amazing and cleverly written album; but I'm really excited to hear the rest of this album. I feel they are really maturing as a band (not that their previous two albums weren't mature) and coming into their own merit. I have loved every single song this band has put out, and I based on the three songs they've release thus far that pattern will hold true.
I agree. But maybe "beautiful" alone isn't really the right thing to say. I'm sure you're aware the lyrics are describing very real problems within society that have been brought to our attention as of late. The instrumentals and vocals are beautiful, yes. But the actual content of the lyrics have a quality of pathos. It's really a very somber song.
SFxTAGG3 I showed the lyrics to my brother along with some other songs....he now calls them Murder Band. Pathos might not be the correct word lol. However it is still a pretty amazing song that has the ability to envelop you in it.
You guys have influenced me so much with my writing and my style and I'm grateful you guys are still rockin. I'll be buying this when it comes out because you deserve me and everyone else's support.
I like it. Different to what I've heard from them so far. I usually need a few listens of their music until I get absolutely hooked on it, but I'm excited to hear the album, for sure.
Just got into this band a week ago. Surprisingly but not really, I really like them. The singing reminds me of the bands I loved as a teen but they are technically sound which I can appreciate now as an adult
well, this may be a first in youtube comment history, but i was mistaken. I grew up thinking post-hardcore was way different than what it's classified as today. Turns out they are post-hardcore, as stated in numerous articles. I was wrong. o.o seems post-rock progressive to me though (the drifty, floating riffs
I saw these guys play live with DGD and Polyphia back in 2014. The second their vocalist sat behind the drumkit, I was like "This is going to be insane." One of the best live performances I have ever seen.
Although some people on here are total idiots, it's so nice to see so many people actually discussing this amazing band and their music. It's awesome to see people look deeper than the surface at beautiful music like this
I'm not sure what everyone is talking abt because this is what it sounds like in the previous album except that it's moving forward I love this and I'm happy as fuck that another album is coming! Just need another from sianvar now :)
I wonder how many people know this song is about police brutality. Was listening to random songs I have on my phone today while I was taking a shit when it hit me. I had that A-HA! moment. and that realization gave me chills. I love music that can have this kind of effect. I love what this band sings about, whether it be religion Elisa Lamb or police brutality.
The lead singer is also the drummer. Mind=blown forever
I saw them live
the amount of talent is unreal
Anderson.paak
The drummer from the Jimi Hendrix experience
= psychopath
i already was addicted to this song for how it sounded but then i started picking apart the lyrics and damn. this is a masterpiece
literally exact same. Came for the guitar parts/singing, stayed for the social commentary. hell yes.
The best thing is that if you hear the album the transition from the previous song to this one is flawless and honestly amazing
It’s all one big song
I just found these guys three days ago and I'm totally obsessed.
Check out sianvar. Its “supergroup” made by members of Hail the sun, Dance gavin dance, Stolas and A lot like birds
@@LolAsdov Take his advice they are AWESOME
I like the lyrics referencing recent events in Ferguson, MO. Great single.
wow didn't even notice that, makes a ton of sense now that I listened to it again.
Its probably referencing police brutality as a whole, since those events just barely happened, and this song was probably recorded well before those events.
Frankie Rios True, but it works. Either way, it's a horrible thing, and I like the way the lyrics attack it.
Frankie Rios
It would make sense as to why they picked this song to release of the many on the album. It's relevant
1missing Thats a very good point you bring up. He probably wrote the lyrics referencing it as a whole but when Ferguson happened it probably gave them more reason to release the track
These two guitar players are like the masters of finding sweet tones for their guitars mang!!!!!!!
I LOVE THE PART WHERE IT SAYS "Are you a god are we suppose to live beneath you"
Thank you for restoring my faith in post-hardcore after years of doubt.
Hail the Based Swan.
ThankYouBasedBlueSwanRecords
My coworker brad showed me this when i worked at pizza hut, i wanted to thank him but i got fired
damn
Saw these guys live and met a few members. Awesome guys, awesome music. Keep up the good work guys
I finally decided to look at the TH-cam video and the lyrics make even more sense now that I know exactly what is being said.
AMAZING. Hail the sun, Hail the Blue Swan. Hail The Sun, Sianvar, DGD. Stolas and Kurt need to have a Super Swan tour that atleast comes over to us in the East.
You forgot Secret Band, but added DGD...

TheStarlord lol, super secret after show.. :)
The 2:40-3:11 part sends chills down my spine. Fucking hardcore.
my heart is broken with the recent news. this song lives on...
Seeing the police be violent for no reason, I immediately thought of these lyrics

like he says, _"you are nothing when you take away the gun",_ I'd love to see the police try the same without their guns & other equipment; they're cowards
Damn, this is like circa survive + fall of troy. That being said, good music.
Agreed
I was thinking the same thing! cx
So true haha
+Lizard Yes I was thinking the same thing!
I heard Circa Survive but now that you mention it I do hear Fall of Troy
This is grossly incandescent, yo
oi treebeard lol
Thanks for helping me learn a new word. cx
Praise it.

It sounds like all the time they've spent with the guys in A Lot Like Birds has influenced their sound. I couldn't be happier.
1missing I couldnt agree more
Was going to say the same thing but you beat me to it. Im really diggin the message behind the music personally.
I agree with what you're saying. Elephantitis was an amazing and cleverly written album; but I'm really excited to hear the rest of this album. I really like Sianvar, but I don't think that project is better than any of the bands whose members comprise it haha. They are really good though
Honestly you're a fool if you can't hear how much they've improved. They just keep getting better.
I love the message behind this song. It's powerful. It makes the song that much better
Drew Gooden brought me here
lol what vid?

This lyrics hit hard especially in light of recent events. Just in my interpretation though.
I interpreted it as being about police brutality. Am I correct?

I honestly think this is their best song yet
I used to feel that way, when I first heard Donovan, but now his vocals are...they're good.
This was worth pausing dexter for

Still trying to figure out why you would dislike this song. It's amazing.
After I few listens I love everything after 2:00. Before that something just feels kinda forced. Growing on me though
im usually not one for post hardcore but .. this. is. art.
totally not post hardcore.
Flannel Beard ummm. it 100% is~
might be a subgenre butttttt no, tis not.
