    I'd just like to say I still have Urbanite XL's to this day and they're still fantastic. I can't stress how important a replaceable cable is to their longevity, and the easily replaceable ear pads.

      Yeah, 4k is pointless, human eyes can't see them at all. Same as frame rate, can't see past 30 fps. 24 is more than enough. #ubisoftBSmasterrace

      If you have a 4k monitor you can tell the difference. Granted it is subtle with recorded video like this, but with digital renderings the difference is much more pronounced.

    • @Andrew_001
      @Andrew_001 10 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      01srob EVen with a 1080p monitor you can see the difference, due to the compression that makes 1080p look like garbage on youtube

    • @GriggsHw
      @GriggsHw 10 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      ***** Actually, a 1366 x 768 can already tell the difference lol, when I watch 1080p vs 4k in gaming comparison video with my crappy laptop screen. It's just that some of the videos are over saturated with pixels (8 millions), render the video shitty as a result

    While some people do not like using EQ, if you have headphones with good speakers, you can make pretty large adjustments on the EQ without and noticeable distortion.
    One good way to have a general idea of the EQ settings that will work well for you, is to look for frequency response curves of headphones that you find to have the bass, mids and highs that you want, then compare it to the response curve of the headphones you have, that will allow you to see the difference, then you can begin tweaking the EQ to match the other headphone. If the response that you are trying to match, is from a higher end unit, then you likely will not get the full sound quality from that unit. This is especially the case when it comes to audio detail when a large portion of the frequency range is being stressed at the same time, but you will likely still get the the other qualities.
    Overall, quality headphone speakers are very versatile and can handle a lot more stress without messing up. They can be adjusted bassheads, or act as more neutral, all while offering far better quality than more cheaply made headphones which specialize in those areas.
    PS, the urbanite headphones are overpriced for what they offer. In its price range, there are just so many other better sounding headphones that you can get, including many from sennheiser that are marketed towards people who focus more on audio quality, as compared to fashion.

    I've had the on ear Urbanites for two weeks and I'm pretty happy with them. Well built, foldable, controls for smartphone, small for traveling. I don't find them uncomfortable but I can imagine other people not loving it. The overall sound is great! But... Keep in mind the the audio is pretty warm, so depending on music taste they might not be for you. The sound doesn't match my main music style really, but these are more of my "on the go" headphones. For comfort and great balanced sound I use my DT-770, they are just too big and clumsy to use for travel.

    You should do a retro review video of the Sennheiser HD650, they're almost 10 years old but still considered some of the best audiophile headphones you can buy. Love the videos! Keep it up!

    I'm a full-time user of the Urbanite XL's myself and I can fully recommend them. The audio quality is crisp and clear without having an over glorified bass as well as having clean highs. I play FPS's a lot and the surround sound is amazing. I also listen to music in the car a lot, and these are mobile, clean looking, and have the perfect length cable for a listen in the car. The only gripes with the Urbanites that I have is that the cable is too short for my PC (which I fixed with an extension) and that I would prefer slightly more bass, although the bass is spot on for others. These are a great pair and give them a solid 9/10.

    both the momentum and urbanite have a smiley faced sound signature. The urbanite just has a wider soundstage, which is why the mids are pushed back, but still retains enough clarity while adding the most bass you can add while retaining neutrality.

    You probably wont see this but, your predictions on Sennheiser's marketing are spot on. I've owned the nation on-ear version of these headphones for 2 years now, with at least 2000hrs on them. They fit me perfectly, and I have a custom EQ. I've used them for CSGO, EDM tracks, TH-cam videos, house music, and mixing in FL12. I'm going to upgrade and I'm leaning towards Sennheiser, because they make a quality product. Any recommendations on a closed-back, wide soundstage pair of Sennheiser headphones under $200?

    These are my first expensive headphones (over $70). I got the plum/purple one as a gift and I love them! It sounds so crisp and gets loud. The bass is great but not so much that it gets muddled and distorted. The sound is clear, all music genres sound great and movies sounds perfect. I put on my old skullcandy uproxx headphones to compare and I can really see how horrible and muddled they are compared to the urbanites. My jvc and apple earpods don't sound as good either, though the earpods are not on ear so can't really compare them.
    I had a gaming headset for around $65, it had a boom mic, a vibrating bass mode called quadboost which used batteries and it also had lights on the earcups. They sounded not great but nice. The build quality felt cheap like it could break any moment. I thought the boom mic was removable but it wasn't, I wanted headphones I could use for other things and didn't want to walk around with a big boom mic. The batteries always drained to fast. I had to fiddle with it each time I used it in my iPad because it wouldn't automatically work and sometimes didn't at all. I said enough is enough and took it back. Now I use the urbanite for gaming and everything sounds perfect. No gimmicks just great headphones. Explosions and ambient sounds on gta 5 sound great.
    I did have to buy a $30 universial cord from sennheiser so that I could use it on my ps4 because I had the apple version of the headphones and the ps4 does not work with apple style headphones/cords. The cord works just as perfect as the original cord. I keep both cords incase something happens to one or I want to use the apple cord on my iPad/iPhone.

    The only minor complaint regarding wearing about the neck is that the pads can come off iff they catch on a scarf or collar but thats rare, they sound very good.

    • @schlooonginator
      @schlooonginator 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't really agree with his review nor do many other reviewers like Tyll of Inner Fidelity. The bass is very tight and not boomy at all and is definately not very bassy. I wouldn't call it perfectly balanced but its certainly not basshead level. The mids are seemless with the bass and not at all compromised by the bass but I did find some veil on certain guitar tracks. This was a bit odd because it seemed dependant on the recording almost with most mids sounding typical Sennheiser/great. The highs are definitely not forward. As explained in other reviews, I think this may be intentional to make lower quality tracks sound better and be easier to listen loudly. Imaging is above average but the sound stage, while wide lacks presense up and down and depth. my opinion.

    I saw these in PCWorld (UK). Gave both Mommentum a try and these. I'm going for the M's they are amazing at most genre's, the Urbanites had a better feel for me, were more comfortable and easier in terms of portability and build but I think not that much now I've tried the M's and got used to them in person.

    I bought these headphones after watching a lot of reviews about these headphones, i was really impressed with the build quality but the sound quality was no better than my sennheiser HD 205 which has as good bass as the urbanite but better mids and highs than the urbanite at a fraction of the cost, my recommendation would be to go and try it out in the shop before you buy.

    I like Sennheiser and am looking at them for my wife. Have you checked out the ThinkSound On1 headphones? I've had mine for about 7 months. They are super comfortable have great highs and mids, decent lows, and overall are a pleasure to have on for long periods of time. They also are great for isolating outside noise, have a nice wood cup, tangle-free cord, etc. Only issue is they could have come with a hard case for travel, but I can buy that on my own.
    For a gaming headset, what are your thoughts on the Roccat Kave XTD 5.1s? Again these are very well made and comfortable with great sound for gaming, music and watching your vids of course. :) My only complaint is the cords aren't detachable so if the headset or accompanied USB Sound Card goes, the entire unit has to be shipped back. That and this can cause issue with cord twist.

    With this review, urbanites seem to me the perfect opposite of the momentum series, soundwise they're more bassy, not muddy though, but still a warm sound signature, whereas the momentum have the more traditional, flat and precise sennheiser well known signature. Design wise, urbanite bend and they're far more tough whereas momentum are delicate, although not flimsy, but still not tough enough to take them everywhere everyday. So they're both good and complementary, but in my opinion Urbanite XL have a bit of an advantage, that being the Alcantara material sennheiser uses for earcups in various headphones it just feels better than leather even Momentum over ear super soft leather.

    I am glad I am not a crazy audio nut as a headphone purchase is made much easier for me. I get something better when it has been seriously slashed in price and a $200 headset is on sale for $69. Winning. Also in regards to audio I love my old 5.1 Logitech surround sound speakers I got for $59 or so as they put out great bass and make music fun. I will continue to enjoy my cheap audio solutions and other can go on blowing their brains out spending loads of money on audio equipment. So thankful to like what I like. Very thankful.

      ***** The sound quality is still awful, comparing my Sennheiser PX360's to the Beats pro, the sennheisers sounded clearer, nicer and are built almost as good (although engineered better), the beats pro are the best headphones beats make, yet can't beat a pair of headphones a third of the price.

There is always an alternative for beats, doesnt matter what do you want - DJing, studio, outdoor headphones or just listening to music at home.

    Recently newegg put the Sennheiser HD 439 on sale for $40 so I picked them up. I like them, but I'd like to know your opinion of them.

    My Recommendation is the Sennheiser HD 598 - its under 200 USD/EURO - and it sounds better than some of the 300-400 EURO Sennheisers ive had in past - i recommend a soundcard what has a 1/4 inch (6.3mm Jack) Support - i use Soundblaster zxr soundcard what supports up to 600ohm gain for the headphones , but be warned dont use such option without headphones what supports such ohm

      Good Luck wearing a open headphone in Public, which the Urbanites are made for. Either you aren't able to enjoy the music because noise from outside bothers you or your fellow human beings will kill you since they don't want to listen to your music.

      Sawisland Agree, 598 is a good headphone, but can only be used at quiet places. Every headphone target different people :) (SE215 here)

    What's a good pair of headphones i can use for work like Audio Post Production or Music Production. The room I work in aren't suited for speakers. I worked with the Ariel 7 for over 3 years and the stretch bands are shit, but the sound works really well.

    Saw them for $250 on Amazon.
    Why would you buy a stepping stone towards true audiophile headphones when at the same price you can achieve the real thing?
    AD900's, 880 pro's, or even Q701's are all top end headphones in the same price range.

    Can you guys do an optimized gaming pc build for $1000?
    I'm personally willing to do such a build, but it will be my fist one and I don't have enough knowledge of custom pc building to do so all on my own. And I'm probably not alone.

    Not as good as the momentums? The momentums are terrible though >.>
    Not a fan of that scooped sound signature wherein the mids are basically absent and the clarity is missing as a result.

    They looked a bit hipster-ish to me, I guess its good they have a matching sound sig.

    These headphone are awesome having had them for a while. Be warned though, I have been through 3 of the cables. Like every other of their headphone I but, the cables are not up to standard
