ABOUT KEVIN CHAPMAN
I'm a 37 year old TH-camr from the UK. I've got a cracking beard and I'm currently going through the autism diagnosis process. I started this channel back in 2017 and by the time I left my full-time job as a Computer Science teacher in July of that year, my partner Anna was trapped in our house by our son Andy, who is autistic and had refused to go to school for 18 months. Our daughters Lucy and Amy and our dog Dave hardly saw me because I was always working to try and solve all our problems! Today I'm a full-time content creator and always at home when the kids get home from school (all our kids!) and Anna has been able to return to university. This channel is the story of my ongoing journey! Previously known as lollujo Vlogs and The Chapman Family.

I also think a danger with Andy doing work from home is that he might start associating home with schoolwork and therefore school becomes redundant. Could easily lead to the thought process of ‘Why go to school, when I can just stay at home and do it?’

I have high functioning Autism, and I love my swing! I use it as a stim toy and stim verbally while I’m on it.
7:07 if you have got a freezer you can freeze bread then it keeps longer and still tastes fine.

Oh Kev. I'm 48. I'm not a parent, and I have no idea how you do it. I've never watched more than a handful of Andy videos. I've seen the Disneyland Paris trip, him ride some lifts, and him get lost behind a church for a couple minutes. Otherwise, I focus on the football manager stuff, and your recently nightly logs. But him sitting there singing "Holiday!" whether it's a holiday or not... ROFL! Pretty cute stuff!!! ;)

My 8 year old son has Autism and I tried to explain to him like this ( he has learning difficulties)
There is a cold that was small and was like a little cold and then more people got the cold and more and more people and people were seeing there mommy’s and Daddy’s and nanny’s and grandads and aunties and uncles and hugging and kissing them then the mommy’s and daddy’s and nanny’s and grandads and aunties and uncles were giving the cold to there mommy’s and daddy’s and nanny and grandads and aunties and uncles so then it kept going and the doctors had to many people who were poorly so they had to shut your school and other schools so that the cold couldn’t go to anymore people
He understood it better maybe Andy would understand this Kev?
And the same about the shops etc

My 8 ( nearly 9 year old son) was diagnosed with Autism at age 3 . He was completely non verbal until he was 6 . He has the functional level of a 4 year old perhaps even younger . Trying to explain a global pandemic to him is totally out of the question he just doesn’t understand he doesn’t understand things like a typical 8 nearly 9 year old he only knows what a cold is and what It means to be poorly . I understand completely what COVID 19 is and I’m not clueless I just had to find a simple way to explain to him without totally confusing him . He doesn’t have any concept of danger , many times he’s ran into the road and was close to being hit by a car ( luckily I managed to grab him in time)

You can freeze bread
My parents take me outside for a drive. I know we are not going to stop, but we drive the street with the shops and then back home. Takes about 20 mins round trip, but it is at least getting out of the house. We have exercise equipment at the house and I play outside in the backyard on the trampoline.

I am Autistic and I was sent a social story from my local hospital (but I am not that server to need it)
Andy classed as vulnerable? Meaning he should still be able to go to school? My little brother who has autism is still attending his special needs provision because he is classed as vulnerable. We live in Scotland but I was under the impression that all vulnerable young people should still be given an education.
Ali 21 it actually all depends on whether staff are turning up for work, can’t have kids attend empty schools
Ye he is classed as vulnerable so can go into school but Kev said that they don’t want to send him
He’s just being a responsible person not sending him because he could catch the virus it’s better to not send him than send him and risk getting it. They should be closed for all kids no matter what
