    I remember back in the day, this was my first ever Video Review of a Video Game I have Ever watched, and this game is one of my favorite games of all time!!! I love the way Jeff Gerstmann does this review, just soo well said! ahh!

    The greatest era of gaming and game journalism. I will forever cherish this time. Nothing beats the excitement and my feelings of awe more than the 6th generation of consoles. Seeing games like Halo CE, Metal Gear Solid 2, Silent Hill 2, Luigi's Mansion, Star Wars Rogue Squadron 2, and even Wind Waker for the first time left me speechless.

      Jeff definitely wasn't alone. So many guys were rocking hair like that back then. I was about 14 in 2003, and I remember wanting to get the tips of my "spiky" hair dyed blonde. My parents wouldn't let me (looking back now, I'm kind of glad. One less thing to be embarrassed about).

    • @apictureoffunction
      @apictureoffunction 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @PHILL SHIVELY did you even play Wind Waker or did you just hate on it because it chose a more cartoon like art style? Because WW is an absolutely phenomenal game, and it's sad and kind of dumb that a lot of people missed out on it simply because they were expecting it to look different.

      I remember seeing this in 2003 on slow internet at my college library. It was a thumbnail sized video, but at the time I couldn't believe that Zelda looked like this. I genuinely thought it was April fools prank, and some teenager at Gamespot made fake screenshots. That was.... Until the video finally loaded and buffered, and I realized it was REAL!? And also, maybe would be good.

      Mine is Breath of the Wild, but for entertainment value Windwaker probably comes second. Although altogether I'd say Ocarina is my overall second favorite because of the nostalgia, effect it had on me as the first game I played that was 3D, and the impact it had on the entire industry, especially how innovative it was in terms of design

  • @StiffAftermath

    Only major detail missing is the tedious aspect of the map and "special item" (spoiler deflection) collectathon late in the game before heading to the final area. Real momentum-breaker! Just like Metroid Prime series! Almost killed the game for me.

    • @apictureoffunction
      @apictureoffunction 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I really thought that was implemented really weirdly. Like for most of the game you have this sort of momentum of going through the story, and getting new developments, then when that part happens, it's like the game suddenly slams on the brakes and halts the story to make you sail/run all across the map collecting Macguffin pieces.
      Overall the game is still absolutely great, but I think that part should've been implemented a lot differently. Like maybe just give the player pieces as part of story quests, instead of having the player search for them and then giving players a small challenge once they find a piece

    • @DanielMazahreh
      @DanielMazahreh 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You can see the next nearby islands, but other objects like submarines, seagulls, and enemies do not pop up until you get closer. That’s probably what he meant.

    I do wonder why Nintendo has not made more Zelda games for the Wii.... come on they should make a continuation of Wind Waker and Phantom Hpurglass ... something like Spirit Tracks (or a sequel to it, like Phantom Hourglass was to Wind Waker). I really liked the cell shaded gfx. ..it felt very good doing puzzles and stuff on the DS. Nintendo , wake up dammit! Useless complaining though, because Wii U is out they will stop making new games for the Wii :/ I hate this
