After listening to this banger of a story I jumped to the description to find more stories from the author only to see that you wrote it. Made my day to see that you make content so good that I thought it was some creepy pasta legend posting again. Found my new favorite author
I loved the format of this story, jumping from one horrorific scene to the next with just enough details to paint the scene in your mind and just short enough to feel frantic. Then it all blended into a story, it was really well done and one of the more creepier stories I’ve listened to.
Perfect timing! Just got to my hotel for the night (work related) and I’m ready to get paranoid
Be careful not to open mysterious door that open up in another dimension or backrooms.
Also look if there are some rules to follow to survive the night

I'd love to see a continuation of this. I appreciate the fact that there is some coherent narrative to this found footage story as opposed to just a series of "bad things happening to people one after the other" .

It's always a VHS tape, never a laser disk or DVD. Something gooey and organic about tapes that digital doesn't have...

@@Maeshalanadae I guess Betamaxes weren't as popular? I can't speak from experience, since I grew up in commieland and getting any VCR was an adventure and a half, plus I don't think they even imported Betamax at all.
@@maximk9964 Betamax wasn’t as aggressively marketed and there are thoughts that their refusal to allow adult film was the real nail in the coffin. But bringing up laser discs, felt it had to be mentioned as well. Remember how laser discs were only a stepping stone technology, after all.
VHS is easier to record. The modern equivalent is a USB stick.
Disk media in general is for copying and not recording or more so rerecording. It's a write once media.
Unlike VHS, which is magnetic tape and therefore can be erased with strong magnets and used to record again. Older hard drives use the same magnetic tech, (and even older computers used to use legit cassette tapes), so of course USB and solid state drives operate similarly using electrical charges to hold the data(which electricity and magnets are pretty close to being interchangeable). Disks, be them vinyl records or cd or DVD, are all based on divots and peaks and valleys on a track that have been molder or permanently burnt into a piece of media.
I doubt anyone has read to this point, but because of how the tech works, home movies aren't typically on disks because you never use a disc to record them in the first place.
It's subtle, but because people experience only flash drive or VHS recorders, despite there being a more common medium to watch movies on, the writers subconsciously will always assume VHS or USB. Subconsciously the others will feel wrong and most of the time they won't be able to explain why. :P
There's plenty of examples like this. A lot of the other ones are used in horror stories to indicate something being off... Like a rose bush with blue flowers. (most people don't know blue is an impossible color for.roses, but the sheer lack of experience of them is what is going to set off warning bells...)

My favorite part of the stories like this is the 'this supernatural and impossible thing is happening....what's the harm in continuing?' Every time.
Anything VHS is aways 10x scarier when it comes to the horror genre in my opinion. 100/10
I love these weird creepypastas with bizarre stuff in them, I'd rather listen to them that the thousand wendigo/skinwalker stories out there.

Just needed to say this is BY FAR one of the most entrancing stories I've heard/read. Full stop. I didn't even notice that I was holding my breath a few times just waiting to hear what came next. Insanely talented all around snd thank you sharing it ll with us with the intensity you do.

This is amazing, a perfect balance of explicitly described danger and hints to a greater unknown that we're left to guess about. Eleven years of reading these things has really paid off, huh? XD The ONLY thing I can nit-pick about is that VCRs didn't automatically rewind after a tape finished, but I'm willing to overlook that for such a good story, and besides, it's not like anyone even remembers how those things worked anymore anyway. Just, well wrought, my dude!

Getting to be a big fan of your channel- just found it recently and it’s my favourite by far!! You’ve always got such fantastic production quality yourself, but the real treat are the stories themselves. I mean, everyone loves a good “chased by a monster” story once in a while, but it’s the real weird, Twilight-Zone gone vicious types that really hold my attention like nothing else, give ya that good ol sense of wonder so it does. And the ones you’ve written yourself so very often turn out to be the best of them! You’ve sure a hell of a talent, and I’m quite glad to have found your channel so I am!
This reminded me of the "Screen Zero" story, which left an impression on me due to how similar it was to a very strange dream I once had. Except this one has the cosmic/demonic unfathomable entity motif that I can never get enough of. Food for my soul. Love your style.

Oh man, even though I could kinda tell where this story was going. It still sent shivers down my spine. This hits a level of creepy factor that very few can.
You start realizing its going from strange & erie to bad & frightening when it makes the 1st pattern change with the desturbing burned woman scene. The next it goes from bad to worst when sound starts getting included. At that point it should have been the point of of no return choice to stop. But the main character pushed his luck to far and the changes keep coming more frequent and faster until it eknowledges his presence and said the experament was over
While he may have saved himself from a worse fate by kicking the TV and getting rid of the VCR player tape and all, but I think he's still marked and may not be as safe as he wonce was..
This story is giving me Ringu vibes.

As a fellow writer, I'm curious: Were the scenes, 'inspiration fragments' for stories you'd hoped to tell, but never developed, so threw them all into this?
I usually put these on to go to sleep. I listened to one saterdeed story before this about scarf people in West Virginia it was very good but it didn’t strike me to the core the way this story did in just ten minutes.
As much as my brain still itches to continue listening I stop myself, the premise and chilling description of this rewinding VHS tape story is too much for me to handle tonight. I doubt I’ll be able to stop myself from listening to it when I wake up though, props to the author
