Sigh, takes me back in the summer of 1999 when I first saw TOM 1 and the GPS Absolution MK.I spaceship while I was watching Toonami on Cartoon Network as a kid, it was phenomenal. Thank you, Adult Swim for bringing the old school Absolution back.

OG Toonami was amazing. Zoids, Mobile Suit Gundam, outlaw star, dbz, and even dope music videos like by gorillaz. I had a pretty lonely childhood, these shows were part of what really kept me going for a few rough years.

Seeing the old line up on the screens of the Absolution brought me back to the days of sitting on the floor in front of my old CRT, looking through my 1st gen Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh cards, playing with my DBZ figures, and getting ready to blast off with Tenchi Muyo and Gundam. Happy 25 years Toonami. You were part of what made my childhood amazing.

Feels good to be back on an Absolution. Shogo 162, the Vindication, and the Forge were all great, but we haven't had an Absolution as the broadcasting home of Toonami since 2015.
That's true. I love the Vindication and its design, but the Absolution is TOM's purpose built bird. At least he won't be bothered for dumb reasons like holding onto a powerful warship.
I love how the upgraded Absolution's hyperdrive design calls back to the engines of the Absolution of old, post Intruder 1... Remember, _we_ voted on which engine design to pick after the old ones got blown off to jettison that blob... Absolutely a glorious way to celebrate such a huge milestone.
It's really great to see the Absolution, especially the old bridge, like the old days TOM 1 and 2, and SARA 1. It was very nostalgic, and it looks like we're going to re-live those moments but with the anime as we travel the stars once again. Just as TOM loves his job, I love Toonami.

Seeing Outlaw Star and Tenchi Muyo on the screens in the background really takes me back to what got me into anime in the first place before I had the internet. I'm so excited to see that Toonami is coming back.
Toonami single handedly kicked off my interest in anime with dragon ball z and cowboy bebop. This was back before the streaming era where things were hard to come across and I was too young to buy DVDs. I seriously can't thank Toonami, what an era!
I know i was pint-size back when I saw Toonami back in the day but staying up late on saturday nights into the sunday mornings going from animes to adult swim.. Literally got chills watching this.

Agreed. Midnight Run was one of the best things that Toonami had. It was hard to stay awake to watch the entire thing, but what little I was able to watch was still worth it. I sometimes even remember waking up randomly to still barley catch some shows I tended to miss most of the time.
The Absolution from around the Lockdown era is still my favorite sci-fi spaceship ever. While this is a different look, I'm still super happy to have TOM and Sara back on board and doing their thing. Can't wait to learn the secrets of what happened to the Absolution.
Could this be a gift from the freed Forge TOMs? Basically a ship that is a homage to the history of Toonami? They do have a copy of SARA, who is helping them run the Vindication. They could have accessed her memory files, saw the Absolution in all it's glory, and decided to recreate and upgrade it to modern forge TOM standards. It might've took them 250 years to complete the creation and upgrades.

If Toonami wanted to, they could merge both the Intruder and Return T.I.E.’s together, having the return of both intruders, the original blob intruder, who somehow survived that explosion and to cause more havoc for TOM and SARA and Georgia, who saves TOM and SARA by eating the original intruder.
One of Toonami’s struggle throughout its entire time has been acquiring and maintaining programming. With their current setup, especially with whatever is going between Adult Swim and CrunchyRoll, it helps mitigate that issue. While having throwbacks would be great, the feasibility is not likely.

I watched this on Saturday and I was losing my mind. I grew up with Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Gundam, Gundam Wing 00, G Gundam, Pokemon, Tenchi Muyo, Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, Rurouni Kenshin, Ronin Warriors, Zoids, and other amazing shows I remember watching as a kid in the 1990s and around 2000. This was back when Power Rangers was going on. The first generation of Power Rangers. There was also Digimon happening. Toonami and these anime such as the big four I mentioned (Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Gundam, and Pokemon) are what truly brought anime to the U.S. and led to a massive surge and popularity. Dragon Ball is probably still my favorite anime today, even though it has lots of inconsistencies. This is before the Narutards existed. Unfortunately, the Narutards began to appear around 2006-2008 years when I was in high school. When Naruto came along, Toonami died. Then you had that silly Bobobo bobobobo bobobobbo anime show that was absurd. I will never forget the first time I watched Trunks transform into a Super Saiyan against Frieza. I was eating a bowl of ramen noodles. I would come from school, and sit down and watch Toonami from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cartoons are definitely not as a good as what was happening in the 1980s, 1990s, and around 2000. Since then, I have now worked at Pixar as an intern back in Summer 2019, and I finally found a job for now at a game company. I am working remotely. I work as an animator. 😁

I love the new look of The Absolution. I loved the montage of Outlaw Star and Tenchi Muyo. I wonder if anyone remembers that Moltar was the first host of Toonami, then Tom introduced himself as 'the new Moltar'. He really made a character of himself.
If we were still in the age of TV channels instead of streaming services, I'd be calling for a devoted Toonami channel, like CN did with Boomerang all those years ago. I'd have loved a channel devoted mostly to anime, especially after the Funimation channel disappeared.
The Absolution was like an old friend came after 19 years. Many of the good anime used to broadcast when I was a kid. The 25th anniversary happened to be the anniversary of the day it came on Cartoon Network. I was living in a place called the Cat House at the time. I was going to say, the old Absolution was bigger than this. It’s cool to see the MK XIV looks something like the original. My favorite memory was when the fans had the opportunity to pick out the new engines after the Intruder almost destroyed the OG Absolution.

After Nickelodeon began to die, Toonami was my only friend growing up (only child raised by grandparents), and anime became my go to. I escaped to Tenchi, DB, DBZ, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon, Gundam, YYH, Inuyasha, and so many more. I don't know about others, but I learned to become a deep thinker because of the stories being told, the complex characters, and the death of characters that you can't help but care about. Toonami was the forerunner for anime reaching us as a culture, worldwide. We love you Toonami.

I gotta say, I used to watch Toonami, but somehow I missed the speeches, the reviews, and more importantly, the story! I recently gained an interest in T.O.M., and stumbled upon a wormhole of Toonami lore spanning around 2 decades, and it took me a week and a half to get up to date. I'm a bit jealous of all who watched this properly lol, but guess it's better late than never. I'm glad Toonami exists. I "started" at T.O.M. 2.
I loved how there were classic anime clips playing on the monitors! This Absolution ship from the future sounds very cool! Now this is an interesting plot, and it was even cooler how Tom just went with it! The retro Toonami design at the end was also very stylish! The navicomputer reminds me of Lain's navi in Serial Experiments Lain!

One of Toonami’s struggle throughout its entire time has been acquiring and maintaining programming. With their current setup, especially with whatever is going between Adult Swim and CrunchyRoll, it helps mitigate that issue. While having throwbacks would be great, the feasibility is not likely.

I watched this on Saturday and I was losing my mind. I grew up with Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Gundam, Gundam Wing 00, G Gundam, Pokemon, Tenchi Muyo, Yu Yu Hakusho, Outlaw Star, Rurouni Kenshin, Ronin Warriors, Zoids, and other amazing shows I remember watching as a kid in the 1990s and around 2000. This was back when Power Rangers was going on. The first generation of Power Rangers. There was also Digimon happening. Toonami and these anime such as the big four I mentioned (Dragon Ball, Sailor Moon, Gundam, and Pokemon) are what truly brought anime to the U.S. and led to a massive surge and popularity. Dragon Ball is probably still my favorite anime today, even though it has lots of inconsistencies. This is before the Narutards existed. Unfortunately, the Narutards began to appear around 2006-2008 years when I was in high school. When Naruto came along, Toonami died. Then you had that silly Bobobo bobobobo bobobobbo anime show that was absurd. I will never forget the first time I watched Trunks transform into a Super Saiyan against Frieza. I was eating a bowl of ramen noodles. I would come from school, and sit down and watch Toonami from 2:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Cartoons are definitely not as a good as what was happening in the 1980s, 1990s, and around 2000. Since then, I have now worked at Pixar as an intern back in Summer 2019, and I finally found a job for now at a game company. I am working remotely. I work as an animator.

I wonder if anyone remembers that Moltar was the first host of Toonami, then Tom introduced himself as 'the new Moltar'. He really made a character of himself.
If we were still in the age of TV channels instead of streaming services, I'd be calling for a devoted Toonami channel, like CN did with Boomerang all those years ago. I'd have loved a channel devoted mostly to anime, especially after the Funimation channel disappeared.
well there is one in some territories but they usually aired Western superhero tv series. It was shutdown well it kinda obvious why.
The Absolution was like an old friend came after 19 years. Many of the good anime used to broadcast when I was a kid.
The 25th anniversary happened to be the anniversary of the day it came on Cartoon Network.
I was living in a place called the Cat House at the time. The Absolution was the same ship where Dragon Ball z broadcast.

I was going to say, the old Absolution was bigger than this. It’s cool to see the MK XIV looks something like the original. My favorite memory was when the fans had the opportunity to pick out the new engines after the Intruder almost destroyed the OG Absolution.
These brings back so many memories Toonami and Cartoon Network were the first tv shows I saw when I first came in the USA. Wow thank you Adult Swim for bringing back those good old times and memories of my child hood.

After Nickelodeon began to die, Toonami was my only friend growing up (only child raised by grandparents), and anime became my go to. I escaped to Tenchi, DB, DBZ, Outlaw Star, Sailor Moon, Gundam, YYH, Inuyasha, and so many more. I don't know about others, but I learned to become a deep thinker because of the stories being told, the complex characters, and the death of characters that you can't help but care about. Toonami was the forerunner for anime reaching us as a culture, worldwide. We love you Toonami.

I gotta say, I used to watch Toonami, but somehow I missed the speeches, the reviews, and more importantly, the story!
I recently gained an interest in T.O.M., and stumbled upon a wormhole of Toonami lore spanning around 2 decades, and it took me a week and a half to get up to date.
I'm a bit jealous of all who watched this properly lol, but guess it's better late than never. I'm glad Toonami exists. I "started" at T.O.M. 2.

I loved how there were classic anime clips playing on the monitors! This Absolution ship from the future sounds very cool! Now this is an interesting plot, and it was even cooler how Tom just went with it! The retro Toonami design at the end was also very stylish!
