Assalaamu Alaikum, how does an intermediate Arabic learner progress in Mauritania? Do they have schools, classes, tutors, or does one self study there to become fluent in Arabic?
Wa alaikum Salam Wa rahmatullah there are great teachers that you can learn books with however the teaching style is very traditional, so in terms of practicing you’d have to put in the work and speak with students. That’s how I’m getting through
thanks for the video brother, i am planning inSha Allah to come next year for studying islam there, first im learning basic arabic inSha Allah may Allah make is easier for all of us
If you go to Mauritania or even Morocco and some other countries you have to have a “guarantor” someone from that country who takes responsibility for your presence. Thats why they dont let you in if you come alone

Hamza Yusuf studied run for your life stay away from sufis they will lead you to shirk and kufur and ruin your hereafter they call upon the dead and seek aid from them stick to the people of sunnah people or Hadith the salfiyas !! Save your self akhi
Assalam Alaikum I would like to tell you that hamza Yusuf is not trustworthy. He is a zindeeq(heretic) with many Kufr views. He rejects many Islamic punishments such as stoning. He has done Sufi chants with shirk. He done many other bad things he is not to be trusted
One should be very careful who he calls shaykh, does he really follow the prophet and his companions. There are grave statements which he uttered especially since the war in gaza started. One should be aware of backstabbers.
Hamza Yusuf is a deviant innovator and a caller to Sufism and disbelief. These words he uttered is nothing new. We knew him to be upon misguodance since he became famous. May Allah protect us from innovation and misguidance
Assalaamualaikum Habibi - May Allah bless you, give you success over your nafs and shaytan, and give you understanding in knowledge and accept you from the sincere. Habibi - I really was thinking about Mauritania but I am novice in arabic and very ignorant on the religion in general , basically a brother who has learnt some basics of Aqeedah, Tauhid and Seerah and general awareness from what you pick up by simply being a practising muslim and raised Muslim,. and Alhamdulillah I memorised a 1/3 of the Qur'an I have heard that Mauritania is good for solid students, not beginners, but you mentioned you came without knowing arabic etc. Is there a blueprint you would give for someone who is like myself, a beginner, on how to benefit from their time in Mauritania and return with - Full Hifdh - Fluent Arabic - Learning Some Primers in key sciences, eg. Seerah, Tauhid, Fiqh
Wa alaikum Salam warahmatullah habibi, Ameen wa iyyak. For a beginner starting from fresh it’s a rocky road but if he is persistent he can surpass his goals. I can only speak from my own experience, In terms of completing your hifdh here, like I mentioned in my recent video, there are many places for that so the issue is up to your own hard work and dedication. When I came I couldn’t speak Arabic so I was learning the Madina books under students that were fluent and also knew English, when I reached the point where I can understand the shaikh, then I started taking classes with the shaikh. In terms of learning the basics, there are a lot of shaikhs here that can take you through all of that but you need to unlock Arabic first, they don’t speak English here.
Everyone should just be careful of ashari, maturidi and madkhali aqida, not just in mauritania but generally. The companions of the prophet were not on this aqida. A look at history how the imams of the muslims like ibn mibrad, kirmani, ibn qayyim treated them would be good to understand. May Allah make all the muslims steadfast on their deen.
