- In Super Mario World for the Super Nintendo, if you collect a power-up as an invalid power-up state (Invalid being 7E001904 to 7E0019FF). It will either give you a random item or crash the game. For example if your Disco Mario (7E00190F), then 1-ups will crash the game and all other powerups will act like fireflowers.
These are some the hardest crashes I’ve seen yet. I think any one of these could burn an actual cartridge
A lot of them crash my emulator so I would not be surprised.
eh, i've seen stuff like this happen on my old cart
probably cuz it's old
that was with normal gameplay and not through glitches like in this vid
At the very least, the save files on a physical SMW cartridge would be wiped many times over after all of those crashes. I certainly wouldn't put it past some of these glitches to, yes, potentially brick a cartridge or even a SNES.

"And thus, the whole world flashed for one split second, before then turning into nothing but an distorted wasteland, with no lifeforms in sight."
Bro When I was a kid I accidentally pulled one of these but I could keep on playing the game with weird graphics and mixed items. It was so cool I called my brother in and he reseted the console. That was ages ago and I've been looking for an explanation since... I could never do that trick or glitch again

Nintendo:what happened to super mario world???
Me:idk just corrupted we need to fix
Nintendo:oh i think super mario world disc cart just cooked...
Mario gets a Mushroom 1up but Mario press the p button and gets a crash screen and Sound is crasing (3:27)
I don't remember how i pulled it off, but i managed to get a key in the first level somehow.
Yeah I know that’s possibel
I finally know what I did.
In New Super Mario World 2, a ROM hack for the original SMW, I crashed the game without knowing it.
I got the thing saved as a savestate on my SNES Classic, and strangely button inputs during the 30s replay feature predictably changes how the crash occurs, even though these inputs shouldn't.
Crash 2 and 3 in this video are common for me when recreating this, and I get another one with the star soundtrack.

@@lauluis1mii124 In the middle and at the side. 0:39 has it in the frame.
You are playing completley Cooked SMW
How do you pull of this crash? Is it an emulator exclusive or is it just very difficult?
Its technically possible but Incredibly difficult.
You have to perform the "powerup incrementation" glitch on Yoshi's Island 3 to create powerup states that would normally not be possible in the game. Once Mario is in one of these "impossible" states, collecting powerups or even 1-ups causes the game to crash, as the game really doesn't know what to do with Mario when he is in one of these states.
Thanks, both of you. I already did this glitch a couple weeks ago I forgot to say it here.
@@plushybrickgaming3540 And the powerup incrementation glitch itself usually crashes the game in a very similar manner if you fail to do it correctly. I think you have to have Mario at a specific x-coordinate in order to get the glitched powerup state. Anywhere else and the game will usually crash, though it may have other effects such as deleting the swing platform, changing the platform into something else, or causing Mario to swim in air.
