Winona, Charlie, Natalia and Noah were all great in this scene. This isn't an easy scene to do. Especially for Noah. Please give this kid an Emmy or Golden Globe or whatever acting awards out there coz he deserves it.
Noah Schnapp said that he started losing his voice during the season finale and woke up one time and couldn't speak. Much respect for him being able to display such strong emotions while losing his voice.
Jonathan's little 'mom' when Joyce increased the heat was so hurtful, how Jonathan cries in Nancy's shoulders because he can't see little Will in pain. Jonathan has been lovely older brother since S1,Billy should learn something from him.
TBH, NANCY is the smartest character I can see in stranger things. She literally poked Will's stomach with a flaming metal stick to save Joyce from choking. Nancy wins the Smart girl award

I’m an eldest sibling, so this scene would already hit hard enough, but everyone’s acting (especially Noah, holy crow, he’s so talented) just makes it even more intense. And hats off to the editing and sound design teams for ratcheting up the tension even further. Top marks all around.
I honestly feel bad for Will because all he wanted to do was play d&d with his friends. But all he got was being abducted and possessed and his friends not playing anymore. It is really sad and it hurts me. 😢
If you guys dont understand about the Shadow Monster, Read This, v The shadow monster also known as the "Mind Flayer" is connected to the Upside down, assuming since Will was in there. The shadow monster was unknown on how long it existed and even how old it was, but it all started with a gate that was opened in November 1983 that allowed the upside down to escape and spread. causing it to take over the world, Will byers was its Host. basically meaning its owner. Its connected to Will Byers through body, So if the Shadow Monster is injured, Will gets injured, if the Shadow monster is killed, Will gets killed. Thats why they used heat, The shadow monster comes from the Upside down which is described by Will as its "Cold Dark and empty" The shadow monster likes it cold since its home is cold. and if he gets to hot, it starts to burn him. but thats what the virus is. you have to burn it out of him. The Mind Flayer is gargantuan and spider-like, being at least 50 stories tall. The precise details of his anatomy remain unknown, due to the thick, black cloud-like substance which envelops him. It is unclear whether he is entirely composed of this substance, or if his body contains any solid elements. The creature could manipulate his own shadow/mist body to forcibly possess and attack. He was able to possess Will through an episode he was suffering, despite his physical body remaining on the Upside Down. Through the gate, he also attempted to attack Eleven as she closed the gate, but her great power was able to block his attempt. The Mind Flayer telepathically commands his army, consisting of Demodogs and the tendrils, to kill and destroy humans (except for its host Will). He also displays a sense of human level intelligence, as he forced Will to lie in order to kill numerous soldiers.
My fave part of this scene is at 1:41 Joyce would’ve probably not been so willing to put Will through this before losing Bob but her anger towards the mind flayer was greater than the pain of seeing Will go through this, basically Jonathan is acting as Joyce would’ve been prior
Emotional Slytherin He’s one of the main points in season one because it’s mostly about him going missing. And when he goes missing it basically sets off a chain reaction.
I remember watching a bts of this season and the Duffers said how in awe they were of Noah’s acting. One minute he was screaming and possessed by the MindFlayer then they would yell ‘cut!’ and he would just calmly ask for some tea! 😂
What they didn’t realize at the time when they tried the Sauna to free Billy was that it was a combination that feed Will. The heat weakened the virus that was in Will but also when the group set the tunnels on fire it was cutting off Vecnas connection to him. That’s why they couldn’t free Billy until the final battle in Starcourt mall. They weakened the mind flayer with the fireworks and Eleven weakened/ strengthened Billy’s mind by reminding him of his happiest memories
I totally forgot that this means Will has a burn mark on his side from where Nancy branded him with the fire poker. Would be cool to see it if his torso is bare in later seasons.
Will’s character got so cheesy in s3-4, it’s a shame they didn’t use him more. S2 was haunting. S1 was mesmerizing, S3 was fun, and S4 was interesting. But especially with all the running time of 4, they should’ve done something with Will. And again: Nancy being a badass
From beginning to end, water works well.. majority of the time. My heart broke for Jonathan, because I know what it’s like to see your younger sibling go through pain & suffering. I’m tearing up… You’re helpless and don’t know what to do to stop the pain & suffering of your younger sibling. Even say, “Why can’t it be me, not my younger sibling”. Well earlier this year, my younger sister was hospitalized for Congestive Heart Failure. My sister had a hard time breathing and there was fluid found in the lower left ventricle in her heart, according to her chest X-ray and tests. She was in the hospital for 3 days, and she’s doing great. Back to what happened in this scene. Poor Jonathan crying in Nancy’s arms. Then when Will’s neck veins came out, and he’s yelling in pain, Jonathan’s freaking out, and yelled at his mom for killing the evil entity with the heat. My goodness, Will grabbed his mother’s neck, strangling her to death. Thank God Nancy saved Joyce with that fiery poker, but also finally pushed out the evil entity into the sky out of Will. The way Jonathan and Joyce hugged and cried in each other’s arms holding onto a revived Will; Damn Waterworks 😭
what they should have known, is that that is not him feeling OR saying that. If you saw the whole episode, you could see him tapping the chair in more code telling them that deep down he was still in there.
