Really great tool. I was looking for something like this for my LAN. Synology DSM 7.2 now uses "Container Manager" in place of Docker but using all the information provided with Container Manager, it installs and runs correctly!
it didn't show up for me until I clicked Next after looking in the advanced settings, then returning to the general settings, at that point I was able to edit (11/28/2022)
@@TDHobbies I did create a video covering the new way Docker containers are setup if that is helpful to you -> th-cam.com/video/cMNNYgxdpIo/w-d-xo.html.
@@digital_aloha thanks for the link, but I got it all working the first time around. I will be exploring your other videos to see what I can do, so far I installed the speed test,
@@TDHobbies Ahh, got it... Wasn't sure if you had issues or not, but it did seem like you got things working just fine (which you did). Hope the other videos I've released are helpful to you!!
Do a search for "openspeedtest/latest". Seems like the search feature in Container Manager doesn't work great, but if you give it that specific search string you should find the proper image to use.
Hi Anyone, You're welcome!! Regarding your question I think the web interface is a difference but also OpenSpeedTest's simplicity. For iperf3 you need to run one end as an iperf3 server (iperf3 -s), then you need to run a couple of iperf3 commands from the client to get the upload and download speeds (iperf3 -c X.X.X.X for upload and iperf3 -c X.X.X.X -R for download). Lastly you need to ping the server's IP address to get the ping time. So much simpler with OpenSpeedTest! The advantage of iperf3 though is that you can use it to gather more information then just speed test info... It is a great network troubleshooting tool. Hope this info helps and best of luck to you in which ever tool you use (both are great)!
Finally!! A good, thorough, and updated instructional that actually worked!!! Thank you.
You're welcome!! Glad the instructions in the video worked well!!

Any chance for an updated tutorial. The port setting option at timestamp 4:40 is no longer there!
Hi cyberwasp461, For sure... I'll do an updated video with the new way Docker containers are setup. I know things changed a little bit at some point.

@@digital_aloha found it thxs, now, pardon my ignorance, where do you get the ip to run the test?
Thanks for sharing another speedtest tool. In comparison to iperf3, is the web interface the main difference?

Hi MiHu, You're welcome! Glad you found OpenSpeedTest useful in your setup.
Thanks.
Hi Murray, You're Welcome!!
If the speedtest is through SSL, speed will be slower at almost half.
Supeeeerb!!!
Hi Throttle Nerd, Thanks for the comment and compliment 😀.
