Very well said Phil! I loved this conversation. And I fully agree with you. You certainly can’t learn much about detailing from short 30-60 second clips. It takes time to learn the craft and know how to do it well. We content creators put a lot of time and energy to make our videos and I agree that many questions are often answered in the videos, it’s just that some people aren’t watching the entire thing or are skipping through it. And by doing that, they miss key information and they also end up often “misquoting” us as they never got the full picture. That being said, I wish you all the best for 2024 and here’s to 1000 more videos! 🙌🏻🎊🥳🎉
Thanks Pan! I lived that video you did a few weeks back talking similar subjects! Us detailers need to talk about these subjects more often to clear the air, help Detailers get back on track, and dispel the garbage of toxic detailing attitudes! 😎👍🏼
What a great info you give , I don’t understand why yo don’t have many more subs , I follow you for a while and always you are a real detailer , never give up my friend what are you doing here is awesome
Thanks so much, I really appreciate it. Yeah I don’t know why my channel is still so small after five years of really trying to grow it. I guess I’m not viral and trendy like all the other channels out there, so TH-cam doesn’t really push my videos as much, it’s too bad but I’ll keep doing what I’m doing. Thanks so much!😎👍🏼
Just like you I did that on Spanish fb page and they just erase my videos because I talk about the real detailing , the practical thing to do as a business point of view , anyway, keep going and I will listen. 😉
Well stated. Totally agree! I'm not a professional detailer, simply a lady who likes to keep her car clean and pristine. While I haven't watched all of your videos, I've learned A LOT from the ones that I have watched and am grateful you have a TH-cam channel to which I am a recent subscriber. I appreciate your honesty and expertise. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and skills with us! Keep the posts coming!!
And this is why I have so much respect for this man. I thought I was the only on wondering how are people supposed to learn anything if every platform keeps shortening the amount of time they give people for videos. I do a 6 hour detail but have to edit it down to a minute in order to stay in the algorithm for folks to see my content. Definitely love the longer videos, and the knowledge you share. Keep it coming and thanks.
Good stuff, Phil. I’m quite grateful that you’re sticking with long-form videos. And you’re quite right; it’s troubling to see the average person’s attention span dwindle to a sub-60-second threshold. Keep up the great work, man.
Made it to the end and wasn’t hard at all. Great video as usual. I’m a forever student of detailing and your videos help me get that much closer at being a good teacher for those who want to learn from me. Thanks Phil for all you do. Have a great new years, here’s to 2024 👏
I don't think I'd ever comment something negative on your channel. I believe you have been talking about "rules" for a while now. I'm not a professional but I've learned a ton from this channel.
I appreciate your content Phil. It has helped me and taught me a bunch of things when I knew nothing. Thanks for taking the time even when the views or likes don’t always show it.
Always watch your videos all the way through, Phil, because I don't want to " miss stuff". Appreciate and support your approach to detailing, please keep up the great content. Best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and Jess!
What I love about watching your channel Phil is your honesty and integrity in producing detailing videos. I am older than you in age and I’ve been doing this since I was 16 am now 64 and you have taught me a lot and I appreciate it. My name is Tommy I’m from St. Louis my TH-cam channel is (Deactb) And in quite a few of my videos, I’ve mentioned your name about how thorough you speak on the job of detailing videos so for the nuts out there they don’t know what they’re talking about. Screw them keep doing what you’re doing man because I love it.
That’s phill. I usually watch your videos till the end or come back later to finish it like you said. Learnt a lot from you. Thanks. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for sharing your experience revisiting videos you have watched and that they reminded you of things you may have forgotten. I find myself doing similar because I heard a phrase that has stuck with me. “So much of memory is rehearsed, meaning repeated ‘remembering’ increases chances of remembering things.”
Well as my grandfather use to tell me watch listen and learn will get you far in life ! Very well said thanks for bringing great content and breaking it down in real world terms !
Hi Phil, well made video. I always love to watch your videos bc you are well knowledgeable with simple details and I really love how raw you are when it comes to ppl bashing you for something you didn’t just bc it’s supposed to be a standard procedure. Nah, I agreed with you. If you can make the job your way and get good results just do it. If it didn’t work. Then follow the suggestions others detailers are saying. Not every need to follow specifically.
Keep up the great informative videos. Your real world applications help a ton! It is digestible and leaves room for exploration. You only get better by putting in the work even if you answered everyone’s questions repeatedly.
There is no wrong way or right way in detailing cars! Everyone has there own style as long as the end result comes out to your standards and or your customers and all are happy then you done good! Keep gatherening info and stay active and don't pass judgement to soon, listen and learn. Thank you Phil longer videos sound great bring it on😉. Happy 2024 😁
Great video. That’s the issue we all have trying to provide information. Finding ourselves answering the same question that was answered in the video. Key point you said is comprehension! Anyone can listen but, do they truly value and understand the information given 💪. I saw your coating video and even the short on instagram you literally said key words do you NEED or SHOULD . I always love your content Phil. Keep them coming as always
“Effective listening is more than simply avoiding the bad habit of interrupting others while they are speaking or finishing their sentences. It's being content to listen to the entire thought of someone rather than waiting impatiently for your chance to respond.” Richard Carlson
Happy new year from vt guys . Been following you and others for a long time . Although I'm coming up on 40 yrs of detailing I'm always looking for new tips and techniques that I may be able to incorporate into my stuff . The thing that I have noticed is that more and more TH-camrs have become infomercials and less " teachers " for lack of better word . You are straight up honest . Something that is becoming rare .
Good vid Phil! As a [now retired] beverage salesman, my first rule with ANY customer, whether new or long-term, was to let THEM tell you before you tell them... Ask what they need or want, then listen! It keeps 'em coming back, and as you pointed out with the black truck you were maintaining - repeat customer = the BEST kind of customer. HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and your lovely bride. Drink something good. Shine on you crazy diamonds!
Very good! Glad you POINT OUT this! I provide my customers with either of two gifts these days. A set of earplugs or a pair of ear cleaners. 🤣 Over 26 yrs of customers, things have changed and definitely listening seems to have as well. Either you have a customer who knows it all or a customer listens and puts their hands up to say when the expert is in the room or not. I try to be patient…hard for an Irish guy🤣 but nevertheless listening is my only way to know if I am keyed in to the customer’s needs and expectations and also for me managing info. So thanks Phil for the relevant video! Looking forward to 2024
Very true. Hell put all the audio in a podcast episode by episode from your old videos. For whatever reason people go and listen to full podcasts but want 1 minute videos on youtube lol.
I firmly believe that this should be a message for all of humanity at this point 🤦♂️ Most people as a general rule these days aren't good listeners. Most snatch and grab what they want to hear and leave the rest. Another awesome video btw and happy New Year Phil
An excellent video! I agree with you by all means, and being an active listener is key to becoming a great entrepreneur in our industry. As you said why would you do a full paint correction if its not needed? Meanwhile you could've done another vehicle and became more profitable while making your customer happy. You have been around a long time, you're very wise! Same with Yvan Lacroix; you're here to help because you care. I hope you and your family had a happy holiday! Be safe and happy new year!!!
It’s tough bru. It’s incredibly tough. I’ve got mixed feelings about the subject matter, so I am going to leave it at… it’s tough. Appreciate what you do though sir. Huge fan.
Your video was very nice into the point the only comment I would like to say is I did buy the chair that you used to roll around the vehicle. I’ve had it for about a year and love it.
So glad your channel is growing phil! You deserve it buddy! I ALWAYS watch your videos to the end….lists of useful info from a true professional! Hope you’re doing well!😎
I've been subscribed for awhile now and have learned a lot of little things that help me so much. Hope you and Jess have a great 2024. And the little boy crying bit was hilarious 😂
Fully agree! 👍🏽 Also if i have to watch a long detailing video from You, Pan, DIY-D, RAD, etc. on a limited time, i usually speed up the video to 1.25x or 1.5x just so not to miss any important information. Cheers! 🍻
I can’t tell you how much I’ve learned from people like you Phil, I really appreciate you and Mrs Phil, happy new year and thank you, as for the shorts I don’t mind them going away at all 😁👍❤️
Great video Phil, you crack me up sometimes 😂. I like that your videos are both informative and entertaining, and yes, I do watch them til the end. I am not a professional detailer but i do wash my vehicles regularly and have learned alot from your content. Great stuff as usual, keep up the good work.
Vonixx Sio2 Pro is nuts. I just bought it yesterday. Nice gloss, slickness and hydrophobics. I dilute it 3:1 with distilled watter because I use it as drying aid after every wash. Nice and cheap too
Happy new Year to you and your Family Phil! Great video and just want to say thank you for all the information and knowledge you share. I've learned a lot from you. Worked in detailing for 6 years, just do my personal cars now as I'm in a different line of work. But have been thinking about starting my own detailing business. Been thinking about it for a year and I should just go for it!
You hit the nail on the head. Unfortunately everything now and days is made for instant gratification. Credit card debt and loans are an example of that. I want that Xbox and car now... boom loan! I want to know what you know in 1 min.! Boom TikTok! I want to make what business owners make! Boom, crypto currency and lottery! They don't want to spend time reading books, watching videos in full They just want it all and now. I domt want to start from the bottom.. I got a degree, I need to be a senior! Then they blame others for their failure and downfall.
Ido watch your videos for entertainment but that's because I have watched them many times but I also got some polishers that you recommend and I love them ,SPTA , some products as well that I'm using all the time but some people will never learn so don't worry about them, happy New year ❤❤❤
Here’s to be being mindful listeners, thinkers, speakers, and opening ourselves up to becoming life-long learners in 2024 🎉 Happy New Year to you and your lovely wife 🎆🎊🎈
Always love your content and watch the full videos always. Thank you for being so consistent with your advice. Happy new year to you and Jess and I hope 2024 is a very productive and profitable one for the business
Phil, man - you hit it right on the head. People are getting shorter and shorter attention spans and want to be entertained more than being taught. It's not enough to just show HOW a process is done, without showing WHY it is, or is not REQUIRED to be done, and if people don't watch the entire video, or turn off their listening, odds are very high, they will get the wrong message. I am guilty of worrying about the videos on my channel being too long, but I realized I'm trying to pass on A LOT of information, and doing it right, so people understand, TAKES TIME. My latest video is about a Walmart orbital polisher I received for Christmas. Many will look at the video's title and scoff - "Walmart stuff is trash, why should I bother watching this junk?" To make it worse, the video is 20 minutes long, so even more people might think: "Why waste 20 minutes on a (trash) Walmart polisher? Funny part is: The Walmart Polisher DOES have a valid place in a detailer's arsenal. I'm not going to say what it is (if people want to know, they can watch the video). I am one of those who DO watch and listen to the whole video (unless it is painfully obvious that it is complete nonsense or a blatant sales pitch), and I HAVE learned a lot of good information. Keep up the good work!
Thanks man! I am finding out that there are some people who feel as we do. It’s a shame that the majority of people don’t listen and have such short attention spans and even shorter tempers. Thanks for sharing man!
Keep doing what you’re re doing, sometimes, you have to keep hammering away before people will have the lightbulb moment. I’d like to think I’ve learned how to read between the lines, follow along and make informed decisions based on what I’ve observed and read. At least when it comes to detailing, my home related skills could used some brushing up!
Ha ha. When my kids were growing up I always said “are you hearing me or listening to me?” When I was in the army we’d do communication games. Ie 30 ppl line up, 1st person reads to them a 2 paragraph story. That person tells the next. At the end the 30th person would say out loud what he was to say. Then the first person read out the real story. We weren’t even close. Absolutely hilarious. BTW, I refuse to watch shorts. I wish there was an option to never see them in the feed.
Hi. Great question. So ceramic coatings, sprays and toppers do not stop scratches and swirls or waterspots completely. Most pro coatings do have a degree of swirl and water spot resistance, but still need to be washed on a regular basis to keep the coating preforming at its best. The only protection that can truly prevent swirls, waterspots and even minor scratching is PPF (Paint Protection Film).
I actually have a question for you. I am a big fan of STPA polishers. Thanks to you of course. My question is. Do you still believe the STPA polishers is still a good machine to use? I’ll appreciate your thought
Am guilty of fast forwarding some videos but on the same token I will rewind if I don’t understand it. I hate videos that contain music for some reason I prefer voice over I understand some music is needed but some people get carry away with music and that’s what causes me fast forward.

@akelaton yep it’s a shame that social media so-called detailers bully the real professional detailers like you and I.
For 2023 this has to be the best video on detailing information for TH-cam for the year. Absolutely outstanding great job Phil.
Wow, thanks! 😎👍🏼

Happy New Year Phil and Wife! Agree on all your points. Agree on the key concept of not polishing and when you do remember paint is way too thin.
Happy New Year to the Miranda Family!
Happy New Year! Very well said. Unfortunately, social media is degrading our listening skills. Additionally, I watch all your videos to the end.
Thanks so much!! 😎👍🏼
I appreciate your content Phil. It has helped me and taught me a bunch of things when I knew nothing. Thanks for taking the time even when the views or likes don’t always show it.
Thanks! You're welcome!
Happy New Year Phil! Great last video for 2023.
Happy New Year Phil and Jess! Wishing you a happy, successful and prosperous 2024!
I always click Save and can then go back and watch videos again. 👍
I do as well. It's football season and I'm home recovering from surgery. Sorry.
Phil, Good points! Thank you,
Great content as always. Excellent discussion. I often answer questions that show that the listener hasn’t watched the video all the way through.
Thanks Yvan! Exactly!
As a lawyer, listening actively is your job. It's important to hear what is both said and not said.
Exactly!! Thanks for sharing! 😎👍🏼
@MirandaDetailing Love your videos by the way. Came across from Pan the Organiser. The both of you have provided some great hints and guidance.
Thank so much!
Phil: Happy New Year’s!!! I hope both you & Jessica have a great 2024. Thanks for all your advice & the videos you post.
Thanks so much!
Always watch your videos all the way through, Phil, because I don't want to " miss stuff". Appreciate and support your approach to detailing, please keep up the great content. Best wishes for a Happy and Prosperous New Year to you and Jess!
Will do! Thanks!!
Great video. Listening is a lost art form for all too many people sadly.
So true! Thanks!
What I love about watching your channel Phil is your honesty and integrity in producing detailing videos. Great video Phil! You’re spot on! So many People don’t listen very attentively.
Exactly! Thanks!
I swear this channel is the best. The don't give a crap attitude is awesome. Always very knowledgeable
Thanks!
That’s phill. I usually watch your videos till the end or come back later to finish it like you said. Learnt a lot from you. Thanks. Keep up the great work.
Awesome, thank you!
I for one have appreciated your longer videos, keep them up. Hope you both had a great new year
Thank you so much! 😎👍🏼
Thanks for sharing!!
Well as my grandfather use to tell me watch listen and learn will get you far in life ! Very well said thanks for bringing great content and breaking it down in real world terms !
Smart man!! Thanks! 😎👍🏼
Very very very agree , go foward , no look back
20 minutes worth of gems. Pretty cool that we talked about some of this when I was down there.
Thanks! Exactly! It’s all logic and principles.
Thanks so much!!
Keep up the great informative videos. Your real world applications help a ton! It is digestible and leaves room for exploration.
You only get better by putting in the work even if you answered everyone’s questions repeatedly.
Thanks, will do!
Happy New Year Phil! Thank you!

Longer videos are the best , I always use the pause button, thanks Phil ! For the awesome video
Glad you like them! 😎👍🏼

I firmly believe that this should be a message for all of humanity at this point 🤦♂️
Most people as a general rule these days aren't good listeners.
Most snatch and grab what they want to hear and leave the rest.
Another awesome video btw and happy New Year Phil
I agree! Thanks so much!! 😎👍🏼
Well said, well put, well delivered. Jumped on because I follow Pan, but glad he recommended you.
Thanks so much! Welcome aboard!
I listened, watched to the end, great job
An excellent video!
I agree with you by all means, and being an active listener is key to becoming a great entrepreneur in our industry.
As you said why would you do a full paint correction if its not needed? Meanwhile you could've done another vehicle and became more profitable while making your customer happy.
You have been around a long time, you're very wise! Same with Yvan Lacroix; you're here to help because you care.

Thanks for the killer content. Happy new year

I’ve always preferred the longer videos and all of the information provided Phil! I truly appreciate the videos you put out
Thanks!!
There's so many stupid people on social media Phil, I just ignore these people because it's a waste of emotional energy! Keep up the good work guys 👍🏼
Thanks man!
Very inspiring, I love watching your videos and learning!!!

Amen to that Phil, well said

Thanks!
Listening to the great teacher
🤣 yeah right!
Thanks so much!!

Always love your content and watch the full videos always. Thank you for being so consistent with your advice. Happy new year to you and Jess and I hope 2024 is a very productive and profitable one for the business
Thanks!!
The chemo analogy was awesome
Thanks. I hope it wasn’t offensive to those who suffer with cancer. I have friends who are going through that and thought the analogy made sense.
My $.02 is, the generation problem. Most Younger detailers want everything fast and quick. No patience and they call the older generation Slow.
Very true!
Thanks! We all need constatn learning no matter how old or how expereinced we may think we are. We learn from each other! 😎👍
Dam good knowledge.. So appreciate you Thank you
I appreciate that!
Great advice! 👍
Thanks!
real question... can spray nine be used on a dark colored truck? dark metallic gray?
Ha ha. When my kids were growing up I always said “are you hearing me or listening to me?”
When I was in the army we’d do communication games.
So true man!! 😎👍🏼
Love it brother! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks man!
Well said Phil👍🏻
Thanks!
Happy new year 🫡🙏❤️
Happy New Year
would the ceramic topper on top of ceramic stop straches from getting on your car and waterspots and swirls ?
Great vid, Phil. I really liked the part where the kid is crying and punching the bed.
🤣😎👍🏼
I hate shorts. Never watch them, never will. In fact, the longer the video the more I’m apt to watch
Agreed!! Thanks!
I actually have a question for you. I am a big fan of STPA polishers. Thanks to you of course. My question is. Do you still believe the STPA polishers is still a good machine to use? I’ll appreciate your thought
Hi. Oh definitely. We use them daily.
Earned a sub from me. I appreciate your content… in its entirety 😊
Thanks! Welcome aboard!
Great video! One question: What kind of dryer is that?
Thanks. You mean this one? bit.ly/3O9RltZ
Am guilty of fast forwarding some videos but on the same token I will rewind if I don’t understand it. I hate videos that contain music for some reason I prefer voice over I understand some music is needed but some people get carry away with music and that’s what causes me fast forward.
Hi. Yeah that’s true some music can be annoying or too loud. I try to keep the music lower and to a minimum
I watch most stuff at 1.5 - 1.75x speed. You still get the info, but faster.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing! 😎👍🏼
