I don't think you can possibly understand how excited we comic book fans were when this movie came out.
Sure we'd had the Sony Spider-Man and Fox X-Men movies - but this was Marvel doing it right.
Nobody expected Iron Man (who was at best a B list character at the time) to be so good. And when we saw the end credit scene which hinted at a larger universe and that we might get to see The Avengers we exploded with joy!
You're in for a great ride with these movies. Strap yourself in and enjoy them!

People who complain about 'this MCU or that MCU movie being the worst ever" have not watched nearly enough movies in their lives to toss that judgment down.
Literally none of the MCU movies are 'the worst movie ever.' Heck, they aren't even the worst comic movies ever. I love comics and comic book movies, even the reeeeeally really bad ones like Captain America 1979.
I am so jealous of people who get to take this journey without having to wait a year or more between movies.

Great reaction! Good insights! Not sure if anyone else mentioned this, but Robert Downey Jr. actually improvised "I am Iron Man" at the end. It was supposed to end a different way. Kevin Feige liked it so much, he left it in, which took the MCU in a different direction than originally planned. I love that fact.

DC was so desperate to catch up with Marvel, they rushed out a bunch of garbage.
The creative team gave a nod to the original Iron Man comics with the iterations of the suit. At the start of its run the suit was big and clunky like we see in the cave; it became the streamlined version over time.

So excited to see you witness Iron Man's character development for the first time. Probably the greatest character development I've ever witnessed in cinema.
Spiderman was always my favorite 😂.
When we pretended as kids everyone wanted to be Superman😂, I brought out the Kryptonite webbing and won everytime 😅.
i only seen the first two spider movies with tobey and the animated show when i was kid but i love spidermans lore is way cooler than superman
@@HoodieHowie I had comic books, the really old cartoon where they repeated the scenes 😆. The first time we had a half descent comic book movie was the the original Michael Keaton Batman. Though I loved the 60's Batman, I'd say Batman was my second favorite superhero.

Also... what is really cool about the iron man suit, and seeing him flying around... is we basically have this now. Well, not an armor suit, but the thruster that let people fly. Yeah, that's been built.

@@HoodieHowie What we have right now is a thing that has two miniature jet engines on each side of each hand, plus a couple more on the back. It is highly mobile, and can be combined with a wing suit. Its not iron man by any stretch, but people are exploring rapid response or rescue, or military applications.
@@HoodieHowie You should check out jLaser he make working tech from movies and TV shows, he made a drone like Iron Man suit, a bouncing captain america shield, ODM gear from Attack on Titan, usable Webshooters, Thor's hammer that can shoot electricity

Your observations about Tony vs Bruce are dead correct.
Bruce Wayne pretends to be a playboy, but Tony really is a skeeze with a bad attitude about women.

I hated the CrossFit scene in that DC movie. Bruce Wayne is the kind of scientifically literate person who would never fall for a health fad like CrossFit.
In one of the Marvel movies, it is mentioned that Tony ate gluten-free waffles. I loved this detail because Tony is exactly the kind of scientifically literate person who would fall for a stupid health fad.

Helpful tips for the MCU- 1. There will always be a cameo of Stan Lee, creator of most of the Marvel Heroes. In this movie he is "Hef" talking to girls outside of Tony's party. 2. Always watch the end credits to the end as there are scenes mid/end of credits connecting to the next Marvel movie.
What's crazy is that a lot of the dialogue like Tony's Jericho missile demonstration speech was ad-libbed. One wonders how many takes they made. Lol
In the comics the chest ring just houses his Uni-beam projector which is a form of repulsor technology. The MCU made the conscious choice to make the mini Arc Reactor the power source that both kept him alive and powers the Iron Man suit of armor.
In the comics Tony has to charge his suit up and it is also solar powered mesh. That was before we knew much about solar energy. 😂
He called Stan Lee "Hef" because with the ladies surrounding him Tony thought he was Hugh Hefner the former CEO of Playboy Enterprises, Inc. 😂
The next movie should be Ed Norton's Incredible Hulk (2008) movie not to be confused with the earlier Eric Bana Incredible Hulk movie directed by Ang Lee. Then Iron Man 2, Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger. Then The Avengers finishes Phase 1. 😅

To give you perspective on something you didn't show..... Tony says the Miniature Arc Reactor that he built in the cave produces 3 gigajoules per second, that's the equivalent to THREE Nuclear Power Plants and it's small enough to fit in your hand.
That’s actually insane to think about , I keep comparing to Bruce Wayne because of the obvious things have in common but I’m starting to think Tony might be more intelligent then Bruce
@@HoodieHowie If you’re comparing the Nolan movies to the MCU, Bruce Wayne comes across more like strategist smart, good at figuring out people and puzzles. Whereas Tony is presented as more science-y smart, as an expert in physics and engineering.
Obviously that’s different if you look at something like the DC Animated Universe, but I think the Nolan films vs early MCU is a fairly common Batman to Iron Man comparison, especially for more casual comic fans.
the thing about Tony Stark is that he's always learning from his mistakes and building around them. the first suit may have ben built from a box of scraps in a cave, but he never stopped advancing

The references in Deadpool referred to the X-Men franchise, not the MCU. Future X-Men movies are planned to unite the franchises. Then again, who cares nowadays. After Endgame, the MCU went on a downward spiral and the X-Men franchise was burried with Dark Phoenix.

The second MCU film is The Incredible Hulk (starring Edward Norton). It's canon, don't let anyone tell you otherwise. It's on Disney+ with every other MCU film.

8:47 the tube in his nose is for feeding him when he’s unconscious. Also so that they could clear out his stomach for surgery because you can vomiting when unconscious and easily inhale the vomit into your lungs and the stomach acid will kill your lungs

4:44 I tried the reverse situation. It was scary ass sh*t...
Got jumped on a deserted forrest road late at night by 5 guys with knives. Last thing i remember was my conciousness slipping away while I was desperately trying to fend off knives, fists and feet....
I thought I was gone. Somehow I woke up a short while later, feeling cold and wet in the middle of a fall season forrest.
Got stabbed multiple times and basicly beat to a pulp... managed to call for help and drag myself the the edge of the road...
When looking up, being surrounded by dudes you know is gonna hurt you real bad, you suddently gain a new perspective of life... One thing that stuck with me is that I don't fear death.

A common theme from the Marvel characters is they all had to lose someone close or go through tough tragedy to become heroes. The bulky grey armour was Iron Ma's look from issue 1-4, then in 5 they gave it the gold and red. And know this: Stan and his writers knew how to do comics that were dramatic, fun and action-packed..all the scenes, plot and even script had been done in the Iron Man series at some point, and you;'ll see them in every Marvel Movie ya watch.
You should totally react to the entire mcu.

Iron Man nailed the tone and trajectory for the entire MCU. If this one hadn't taken off the way it did then I don't think the rest would have followed. And yeah, this movie clear through Endgame is one hell of a journey. They're not all amazing, but a lot of them are.
It set my expectations high for hulk but maybe to high . I liked it I just didn’t like it as much as I thought I would
@@HoodieHowie yeah, Hulk is just ok, not one of their best ones. Winter Solider and Civil War and Avengers and Infinity War and Endgame and the Guardians movies are good. I also loved Dr. Strange 2 but not everybody did.

A little heads up, Terrence Howard got recast with Don Cheadle in Iron Man 2, which is very well-received in the fandom. Honestly though, Iron Man solo movies except for the 1st one weren't that great. BUT every Iron Man's appearance in other Avengers' movies is great. Speaks volume on RDJ's performance when he steals the show every single time.

If you want to go super deep, add Agents of SHIELD post avengers (it has some good tie ins in the first 2 season) and Agent Carter is fun post Captain America
The “Netflix” shows including Daredevil aren’t as linked but are definitely worth watching
I definitely want to get deeper into the lore of this once I catch up to end game I want to watch everything else
@@HoodieHowie There are some benefits in watching both AOS (S1-2) and Agent Carter. There’s a couple of bits which are effectively Easter eggs and a pretty major storyline which hits both AOS and the movies at the same time
I didn’t do it personally but I’ll be trying to do it with my kids as we slowly go through the MCU and related Marvel movies (Deadpool being a long way off).
The MCU is an amazing ride. There’s a few missteps here and there but I’m sure you’ll have a great time.
Personally, I grew up with the DC heroes - SuperMan, WonderWoman and (especially) Batman. The first time I hit Marvel seriously was the 90’s X-Men cartoon and I had zero interest in seeing a film about a C grade superhero like IronMan but some friends wanted to see it and the reviews were amazing
Oh, the one shots are short and fun.
Just so you know, the last line was completely improvised. That’s when they knew they picked a good actor

Also note... If you want to, you *can* watch the first hulk movie with eric banna. Its not official cannon, nor necessary, but it does give the origin story if you want it. The CGI in that one is for sure dated. Your choice if you want to watch that one.

@@danielficarra2557 no, Ant-Man definitely ends Phase 2. And on D+, Far From Home ends the Infinity Saga. I agree that they all *should* end with an Avengers movie, but that’s not how Marvel divides them.

Fun fact: becasue Marvel Studios didnt have rights then to its most popular characters X-Men, Fantastic Four, Spider-Man (For him they still dont have rights) they had to improvise. Avengers, Guardians of The Galaxy, Antman - these characters were B-C tier characters. Most still are b-c (not including thier primes)

Yea..that’s was a $100 tip. Tony is a billionaire. $100 to him is like 1 penny to us normal people. I was stationed in Turkey back in 1991 while in the USAF. Back then the Turkish Lira was 3000 to 1 US dollar. So 100 Dollars was 3Million Turkish Lira. Talk about feeling rich!!! Back then a Turkish beer (Efes) was 800 Turkish Lira. At 3000 to 1 it cost about 25 cents in US dollars. When I left in 1993 the exchange rate was over 10000 Turkish Lira to 1 US dollar. The beer was still 800 lira……needless to say I brought home a lot of Turkish stuff! Be sure you watch the Marvel movies in the release order AND the scenes after the movies credits. They provide insights as to what’s going to happen in the next film. Cheers

Just subscribed to the channel, interested in seeing your journey into the world of the MCU. Man watching these in the movies for the first was an experience, to be honest. But i truly hope you enjoy and love the characters and movies as much as many of us do. I still love DC, but the movies Marvel has them beat, but DC animated is where they definitely have the edge.I'll have to go back and check out your deadpool reaction as well. Im an old head who, when these movies came to life on the big screen, my whole child just came back flooding to me, and these movies were an awesome experience. Enjoy the ride!

The cheesy "next time" line, is more for the comic readers. He replaces Tony Stark Later in the comic for awhile as Iron Man when stark is not available, He basically became Iron man for several years of the comic run, later Tony even makes armor specificallyf or him, and is later known as "War Machine." Tony trusts him pretty much exclusively with the technology.
I recommend flipping the screen because everything is backwards and you can't read the subtitles or anything in the movie
