- So as we all know, it's impossible for Byleth and the students to die during the academy/part 1 of the story, even in Classic mode.
This is actually hard coded, even when hacking the game to put the students as red units in chapters where you kill enemies, the game still prevents them from dying, they just do the hunched over defeated animation.
However as I learned in the ch7 simulation video I made, there is a loophole to this, students were never intended to be green units, so they are not protected from dying as green units.
As a result I learned that they have unused death screams, completely different from the one in part 2.
I want to note however that the same sadly doesn't seem to apply to Japanese audio?
For some reason they recorded the same one twice, so while it is a different file being used, it is the same recording.
I did however include Jeralt, Rhea and Sothis as they DO have a death scream too (they're also protected from dying in part 1) and their retreat quotes when used as a playable character, which I believe I haven't documented on video.

Seeing Linhardt lying there and saying "Perhaps it's time for a nice nap" was by far the most depressing death.
Honestly I've had to start recruiting Linhardt because killing him is too depressing. Sleepy guy doesn't even want to fight in the first place.

Well you can literally see her being used, has voice lines in battle, even crits
When the game came out, people datamine the game and saw that "black knight" had stats as if we could use him and few months later, now we have him so of course, she is bound to be out next year as well as our father as she and our father has stats like our units growth

Zwizard247 you don’t know that guarantees them to be in. Jeritza was easy to handle since it wasn’t hard to fit him in the plot of CF at all. Sothis, Rhea, and Jeralt, however, are a completely different beast altogether since IS would have to rewrite the story in order to make playable versions of them make any sense.

It’s weird how in classic mode, while the students technically “die” if they go down pre time-skip, they simply say a generic quote and don’t fall in battle (they use their retreat animations).
I much prefer this, it would make it seem a lot more serious to lose a student on a mission seeing them in their younger forms actually die and say these things in battle. Just my two cents.
I think that's precisely why they don't die. Some might shudder at 15-year old Lysithea biting the dust.

If they "die" pre-time skip they're basically useless, because all you can do is talk to them. Not fight with them or raise support levels or any of that.

Nope, the echo was edited into the voice file itself, instead of being some filter applied within the game.

At some point she was meant to be playable, but they either scrapped her since she could have been a walking spoiler or there could have been a dlc where she was playable, but the dlc was never finished
