- The day has finally come, I have been able to get a motor for my kayak. Newport sent me the NK180PRO electric motor with 24volt 50 AH battery.
After having the @NewportKayakFishing@Newport_Vessels installed and hooked up to my @bonafidefish RVR 119 kayak I took it out on one of my favorite rivers while fishing a buzzbait.

Thats an AWESOME upgrade ....beautiful scenery as always...one thing i would do is figure out a way to hinder motor vibration sound in video...its overbearing the sounds of nature ,,,the gopro is picking up the vibrations,,,maybe put a piece of rubber on the mount or something...but hell yeah...awesome craft and keep us out there with you with the vids! now you are playing with power just don't tip over - should allow you to cover much more water and do some trolling too - good way to find suspended fish, you still need fish painter for the big impoundments/bigger rivers - will help you spot lock on some places, stay in the pocket longer
I saw that phrase "Just don't tip over", in your message, and it reminded me of last year, when John actually DID accidentally tip over in one of his Kayaks. It scared me very badly! I thought:"Nooooo!!!!! It's all over"!
Thankfully, I was wrong.
THANKFULLY!!!!! God had his hand on John, that day...and that's a fact, with my hand up!
I broke my motor mount last time out and spent more time paddling and fighting the wind than fishing. I use a 30# trolling motor most times, as its a great time saver.

I love my motor. Totally worth the investment if you fish a lot. I have a pacmotor, not the fastest but it just straps on so i can keep the motor in case i change kayaks. Its also is controlled with a wii remote thingy and that is a lot of fun.

I got my first unit from the kickstarter, just got a second one for my wife. The new ones are better. They have aluminum hinges and are slightly faster

Recently got a Sportsman 106MK and just had it out. Doesn't look at fast as yours but the hands free steering about ability to head upstream against the current is a game changer.

John, I’ve had a Torqeedo motor on my SS127 for a couple of years. The motor opens up a lot of opportunities to run up stream and fish while floating back down stream eliminating the need for always having to have another vehicle for shuttling. A couple of things, you may have had it on and I didn’t see it but you should have the magnetic kill switch attached to your PFD so if you fall out you don’t watch your kayak motor over the horizon. Also, in Tennessee with a motor on your kayak you need to register the kayak and display the 3 inch registration numbers on both sides of the kayak.

The kayak is a great consideration too! Kayaks are a ton of fun to fish out of on rivers. I do have a lot of great memories fishing the jon boat with my dad though. I just couldn't convince myself to go back to a jon boat though.
@@Flynfish I can use a kayak, but I like room to move around and place different items. Plus, a big fish will drag you around in a kayak.

Have Josh and Alex give you some pointers on how they use their motors. Now you’ll be getting bigger batteries to to run your GoPros and what not. Then you won’t need to carry all those spare batteries for the GoPros!
The NK motors are great, and they don’t you to a specific battery.
You can also fish slower with the motor cause you can get to places faster. Slow down going upstream, you’ll cover more than enough water. I realize it was your first time with the motor though.

Game changer, John! That setup looks awesome. Gonna open up a lot more options for parking and traveling up, then floating back down. It’s also great being able to cover more water in less time. I bought a new kayak a couple weeks ago and am going to add a mount where I can use the trolling motor from my Pond Prowler sometimes. Paddling 4 miles on the lake can be tough after a long day of fishing in the heat. Great catches this trip.

Great video brother love the upgrade, I rigged up a motor for my feelfree kayak on my channel the quality of video is not that great but hopefully it will help someone out.
That motor with foot steering is going to change the way you fish! The efficiency once you get the muscle memory established will give you a lot more opportunities than you ever thought possible. It has been the difference in my tournament fishing. I would put the throttle on the side of the boat that I reel with and not the side that I hold the fishing rod. It's easier to adjust the speed while a fish is on.

@@CreekFishingAdventures I had to move one for a friend when he bought my old kayak. It works great for me because I hold the fishing rod with my left hand and reel with my right. Oh, and thanks for sharing the Bible verses! I’m a full-time pastor that occasionally gets to fish. Keep doing what you are doing!

Just a suggestion - If you fish top water with Mono instead of braid the line stretch will produce more hookups, also the mono will keep the lure at the surface instead of just under with braid. Just a tactic I learned over the years. God Bless!
I'm getting ready to put a motor on mine as well. Just stuck tying to figure out how to steer. I can't do the foot pedals as I have no feet (amputee). So hopefully I can find a cheap solution for steering.

good video as usual, hey John I got my hvac fixed today by Springdale Heating and Air! thank goodness it was only the capacitor! I have a Newport salt water rated kayak motor that I would sell if someone is interested. its a clamp on model but short shafted for kayaks

After adding a motor do you now have to buy registration numbers. Here in Virginia you don't need anything unless its classed as self propelled then it has to be registered just like my Bass boat.

Does adding the motor change your kayak registration? In my state if it's manpower there is no registration otherwise you have to tag it like a boat.

no depth finder, budget kayak depends on you, from 300 to 6000, how much of a kayak and how comfortable can you afford or want to be
