Watched this with my girlfriend, who came from a borderline abusive household. The scene where Kara finally pushed back against Brainiac (quite literally by _pushing_ the ship away from Earth while the show's theme song was playing) was super cathartic for her. Easily the best part of the season.
One thing this season touched on -- in a way that wasn't super obvious -- was parental abuse of a child. Having experienced that myself growing up, it was a particularly effective arc for Kara to break free of Brainiac and become her true self.
What's great is it wasn't a one and done "fix" - the episodes showcased over multiple episodes how fucked up the abuse was, how long-term and insidious it was, and how it was a struggle for Kara to break free. It wasn't some deceptively easy thing. I liked that was more realistic. I could even buy that Brainiac might've cared in his own fucked up way but that he was still an abusive parent. The gaslighting he kept doing was terrifying!
I definitely like this version of Kara/Supergirl, and she's one of if not my favorite version of the character. I love her backstory in this series, despite the tragedy of her being raised by Brainiac to be his weapon. I like Kara's relationship with Jimmy. The best part is that I love Kara's relationship with her cousin Clark. Despite having a bad first meeting, Clark and Kara develop a strong familial bond, which I love.
Kara holding on to a piece of Brainiac works for me. Even if she managed to stand up to her abuser, he was still the only father she ever knew. Despite everything, she still loves him and that's not something you can immediately get over.
This version of Kara works really well within the show. Special shoutout to Michael Emerson as Brainiac. Really helped make the character villainous and intimidating. Really like the portrayal
Yeah this finale was EXCELLENT! I swear I got goosebumps seeing Kara and Clark come together to defeat Brainiac and their dynamic together is so sweet. I LOVE this take on both Superman and especially Supergirl as my new favourite take on Supergirl yet. Her character arc was so compelling and well written and her backstory being raised by Brainiac is such a great reinvention of the character's origin that I honestly hope other adaptations take inspiration from. Brainiac was also an amazing villain and Micheal Emerson gave a superb performance as a such a menacing and sadistic version of Brainiac (honestly my favourite voice for the character). Everything from the visuals, to the cinematography, animation and score were all great. Can't wait for Season 3
You think season 3 is a good time to introduce Batman. His character arc can be like the Dark Knight in Batman V Superman, except better. Classic they start out as enemies and then become friends to fight the real enemy
@@fictionverse7292 That would be really interesting to see and as much as I would be very intrigued to see this universe's take on Batman, I doubt we'll see the character fully show up in the show for a while since this is Superman's show after all and since the new Caped Crusader show is coming out in August I don't think they'd be willing to have yet another take on Batman show up as the character is already pretty oversaturated
I really liked how in the last episode alot of the villains came to Sups defense. We've seen countless times in shows like this the hero trying to help or straight up saving the life of the bad guys only for said bad guys to completely disregard that or straight up act like it never happened by the next episode ( Volcana from STAS being one the bigger examples). It's nice to have the hero being rewarded for showing kindness to their enemies for once . Hell I'd be down for the idea that these guys end up being some proto version of the Justice League (they seemed to have a little too much fun saving the world)
The thing I realized about Brainiac is that he’s also similar to Kara and Clark. He’s also crippled with loneliness and how he feels all alone. He refused to just be decommissioned all alone if peace is achieved, so he destroyed Krypton. He took Kara in and raised her. And even in his final moments when he took in kryptonite and tried to kill Kara in the end, it was because he didn’t want to die alone. Brainiac shows a very toxic and evil form of coping with loneliness and how destructive it can be.

Kara was simply PERFECT in this series, both design-wise and personality-wise. They really nailed it with her depiction! Let's be real, everything in this series (minus a few chara-designs) is spot on! Between this and Superman and Lois on CBS, I'm soooooo happy that there are content creators out there who actually understand, and most of all LOVE Superman and what he represents.
i like that theyre still giving time for lex to go bald, that single shot of his face at the end was enough to convince me its gonna get proper build up. the way he looks so tired makes me think he's gonna lose all that hair from stress in due time lmao especially considering how he didnt play the largest role this season, more like a secondary, if not tertiary big bad evil guy, im cool with waiting on his iconic design being put off until the spotlight is truly his. i feel like season 3 is a good time for it, but to me it really does just depend on how big his role is. maybe it could be argued that he SHOULD be the biggest player in season 3 after all this build up, but idk, lets see what MAWS does
This finale and this show is just great. One major thing I'm hoping is explored next season is to see this version of Superman and Lex's dynamic with each other. The scene with Lexcorp tower gives me a good feeling we'll see their usual back and forth as is tradition with them in almost everything
I loved how the season ended. Like, as I'm watching, and how things were playing out, I'm watching and I'm like, "This feels more like a series finale than a season finale." And when I was watching, I was loving every second of it. Straight up, this version of Supergirl is honestly probably my favorite adaptation of the character. And that suit is awesome. MAWS and Superman and Lois are probably my favorite adaptations of Superman and his whole like, kit and caboodle lol. Overall, the season didn't disappoint for me. I did enjoy it better than Season 1. And I'm extremely, extremely hyped for Season 3 whenever that releases.

7:29 Isn't it obvious? That's Brainiac's memory drive. Think back to STAS. Superman used Brainiac's memory orb to access information and essentially build his Fortress of Solitude. Since Jor-El's AI is no more, now Kara and Clark can use the Brainiac drive (which SHOULD be inert and not malevolent since it's just an overglorified USB containing yottabytes of information on Krypton's history and other nearby planets), to have a fully functioning Fortress along with the AI replications of their long-gone parents.
This season has cemented this show as my all time favorite animated series. The writing is excellent, the characters are fun and charming, and the story is heartfelt and engaging. I have never felt so much hype watching a show until this seasons finale. Simply peak. So glad it’s getting a third season.
I mean, where do you think all the people Brainiac "consumed" are stored?? It almost makes this hard drive not only a way for Brainiac to return BUT also a way for them to adapt the actual City of Kandor.
Oof, I forgot about that. Kandor being destroyed could possibly mean the "deaths" of all those memories he backed up. I think Kara saved the hard drive not only because of her relationship to Brainiac, but she could've been aware of the digitized copies of all those people.

I was really scared that this season’s finale was going to let me down, but it blew my expectations out of the water. There were still some moments I felt could’ve been better but it was great overall.
Okay, we need season 3 of this PEAK!!! But yeah, I love her, and you can’t tell me when she and Clark started pushing the ship into space and the theme started playing that that moment wasnt nothing but pure HYPE!!!!😊
Given this Kara's relationship with this Brainiac and how much more of a deeply personal betrayal his villainy was for her in this version, it will certainly be interesting if they ever introduce the Legion of Superheroes, and if they still try to do the ''Supergirl hooks up with Brainiac 5'' thing.
I really hope Brainiac isn't done in this series. Rouge AI is a bit overplayed, but this is still complelling enough to be good. Also he got his green!
Definitely one of the best character choices they made This and season one was so soo good, this is also my fav Superman show so far 😉 anf this was my first Superman show too. So this makes me happy to see its conclusion
The shields on the fists remind me of Superman X. He was only in the old Saturday morning series but I thought he was so awesome as a peer for Superman as a kid. 😄
With everything that James Gunn as said about how he is going to handle Woman of Tomorrow. I can’t wait for people to see a real comic book accurate adaptation. I liked MAWS Supergirl, and the idea of having her start as a villain was a smart move. But she isn’t a definitive take on the character.
literally this version of Kara is soooo fun to me. I love her and how she plays off of Clark and wow cheers to the production team they simply killed it with this finale
I really appreciate stories that get to take familiar characters but change their circumstances. Making Kara Clark's peer but with a wildly different different upbringing works really well thematically for them both trying to find a balance of being human and being alien and I really like her competitive edge in comparison. I can't wait to see more of her, especially if she and Clark grow to have different takes on being Superman/Supergirl even when they're on the same side
I like this a lot because super girl is a mix of power girl. Feels like they fused the characters to make this one. As a black person I feel really happy that Jimmy is well written and not just some throw-in for diversity(stop deleting gingers). Power girl(not supergirl) pattern in dating chocolate dudes stayed too, so that's a big plus for me. I have high faith for season 3 because we was hinted at a lot of new potential villains and heros but my biggest fear is the fact that the bad guys need to be scaled up due to both superman and supergirl are fighting together unless they write supergirl out and she leave which I doubt. I definitely can't wait for more Jimmy x supergirl moments.
Having Kal and Kara being the same age is a fun change, but I've always thought it would be interesting to see and Else-Worlds where Kara arrived on Earth first, established herself a heroine, and then adopted Kal when his stasis pod arrived.
Brainiac did say he was too badly damaged to be recovered so the hard drive might just have his base code and some archived data, might be setting up for Brainiac 5.
@@ytsi7505 that what they did in Smallville, used to core of the defeated Brainiac and rebuilt him into Brainiac 5. Either that or they use the core as the basis for Kelex, which would be pretty cool as he doesn’t show up enough in adaptations.
@@ytsi7505 yeah but the Legion had very little appearances in Smallville, if memory serves they only had one appearance prior to the episode where they retrieved Brainiac. Also Smallville’s pacing is much slower than most animated shows, really all MAWS has to do is have the Legion show up in one episode and take the Brainiac core with them by the end then have Brainiac 5 show up in a later episode.
I just saw this finale, and it was just....perfect. I got spoiled a bit since I saw your video, but nothing compared to when Kara flew in to the ship after the brainwashing, and the opening song played. That was just such an anime moment and it was not cheesy as hell. All this grown mid 30s man want was to scream, "Go Kara go!"" Even if we don't get a 3rd season, this ending was so perfect, I would be okay with it.
Supergirl is my favorite character. I was really sad when they killed her off for nothing after she went through so much in Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3. So happy that she did not die in this show, especially after she went through what was basically parental abuse on steroids.
I think season 3 will definitely be the big lex season I really like the supergirl design I actually really like the scarf look for the cape if I’m being really nit picky I do prefer supergirl with the skirt but that’s just a preference thing and doesn’t make me dislike this design in anyway
This is a very good take on Kara; not the only very good take, but it definitely holds up. One thing the show was careful to do was make Kara sacrifice herself, what, like three times to make sure we know she's truly reformed. Any one of them them could have been a fatal sacrifice, though they opted not to make any of them fatal, and I'm glad.
This, much like Deadpool and Wolverine, is just what we need to cure us of the accursed Superhero Fatigue. It's about time we had some lighthearted superhero content again
I thought the season started pretty slow but picked up strongly once the Supergirl episodes started Overall this is currently my favorite Superman series now.

I still prefer her Comice story how she as a early teen when krypton was destroyed and she got knocked of course and didn’t age until she landed on earth and I like how she doesn’t fit in as unlike Clark she remembers her home and the culture and struggles to manage her powers to where she seen as an outsider to earth so has no real love for them either, and she’s a little lost as her main objective was to protect Clark but he’s grown up just fine with out her , but this still does a great job of still using similar stories points but making it new and changing it just enough so it feels fresh and not a direct copy
Lex as the main villian might be interesting. I'm not a fan of this version of Luthor thus far so i would hope season 3 would allow him to get the arc he needs
I definitely liked the season. I actually also think that tomorrow verse Supergirl is the best adaptation so far. Did feel it unnecessary her become basically the main character of season two
I really wanted Lois to move to Metropolis at the end so then Season 3 could be focused on this universe's version of Batman. Considering how good this show is at reinterpreting characters, I was DYING for them to tease a new take on Batman, but they didn't which is still fine
I'm hoping a certain dark knight appears in season 3 as they vicki has made quite a few appearances by now and gotham has been brought up several times by now .
About the only thing I don't like with Kara is how she and Jimmy are presumptive boyfriend and girlfriend simply because they're in the same social group with no previous attachments; that sort of thinking is responsible for an awful lot of boys assuming that, if they have a friend-girl, she is destined to become a girlfriend. But I think they could fix that with like two lines of dialogue: Jimmy: Kara, are you sure you don't like me just because ... I'm one of the few people you even know? Kara: Jimmy Flamebird, I have met many people on your world. I like most of them. But, I still like you best of all. D'aww! Yeah, that'd fix it for me.
Did they ever explain why Kara is so tiny? Usually it's because she's biologically younger than everyone else. But her she's part of the house of El, so you'd think she'd be a similar size to her cousin. The only episode I've watched basically all the way through this season are the last two, because I only actually started seeing people talk about it around then. I did not know it was back on.
Dude, Lex is still like 20 and has barely just founded Lex Corp. It’s still way too early for him to lose his hair. I presume he’s going to lose it through extensive kryptonite research and being exposed to its radiation for too long. I miss the trunks on Superman. Superman without the red trunks is like a suit without a tie! Sure it can work, but it looks so much better included. Also, I really hope they introduce Batman sooner rather than later. The Batman in this universe would probably be pretty new and inexperienced, which we rarely see. This Superman interacting with greenhorn emo Batman would probably be sooo hilarious.
I would’ve just be a good reimagined because she is really different from the Score Material, what do you think of the second DC Super Hero Girls version of Super were just made her a tomboy, I also don’t think this version of Super girl wasn’t influenced the comics that much because She doesn’t have a father relationship with Brainiac and try to introduce one is going to be forced.
While I do agree that something related to krypton/superman would’ve been a nice touch to lex losing his hair, I do think it’s better that they’re leaving it for next season. They’ve barely developed his character as of now, let him gain some more lore and strength before becoming the bald villain lex

She's certainly more likeable and reserved than the one from Super Hero Girls...the one who's all "WHAT GOOD IS BEING ANGRY IF NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT IT"

Oof, I forgot about that. Kandor being destroyed could possibly mean the "deaths" of all those memories he backed up. I think Kara saved the hard drive not only because of her relationship to Brainiac, but she could've been aware of the digitized copies of all those people.
I think they are gone now, which as sad as it sounds, is probably the best fate for them.

I was really scared that this season’s finale was going to let me down, but it blew my expectations out of the water. There were still some moments I felt could’ve been better but it was great overall.

Given this Kara's relationship with this Brainiac and how much more of a deeply personal betrayal his villainy was for her in this version, it will certainly be interesting if they ever introduce the Legion of Superheroes, and if they still try to do the ''Supergirl hooks up with Brainiac 5'' thing.

The shields on the fists remind me of Superman X. He was only in the old Saturday morning series but I thought he was so awesome as a peer for Superman as a kid. 😄

I liked MAWS Supergirl, and the idea of having her start as a villain was a smart move. But she isn’t a definitive take on the character.
literally this version of Kara is soooo fun to me. I love her and how she plays off of Clark and wow cheers to the production team they simply killed it with this finale
I really appreciate stories that get to take familiar characters but change their circumstances. Making Kara Clark's peer but with a wildly different different upbringing works really well thematically for them both trying to find a balance of being human and being alien and I really like her competitive edge in comparison. I can't wait to see more of her, especially if she and Clark grow to have different takes on being Superman/Supergirl even when they're on the same side

I like this a lot because super girl is a mix of power girl. Feels like they fused the characters to make this one. As a black person I feel really happy that Jimmy is well written and not just some throw-in for diversity(stop deleting gingers). Power girl(not supergirl) pattern in dating chocolate dudes stayed too, so that's a big plus for me.
I have high faith for season 3 because we was hinted at a lot of new potential villains and heros but my biggest fear is the fact that the bad guys need to be scaled up due to both superman and supergirl are fighting together unless they write supergirl out and she leave which I doubt. I definitely can't wait for more Jimmy x supergirl moments.

Having Kal and Kara being the same age is a fun change, but I've always thought it would be interesting to see and Else-Worlds where Kara arrived on Earth first, established herself a heroine, and then adopted Kal when his stasis pod arrived.

Brainiac did say he was too badly damaged to be recovered so the hard drive might just have his base code and some archived data, might be setting up for Brainiac 5.

@@ytsi7505 that what they did in Smallville, used to core of the defeated Brainiac and rebuilt him into Brainiac 5. Either that or they use the core as the basis for Kelex, which would be pretty cool as he doesn’t show up enough in adaptations.
@@Andrew-Bastin Smallville introduced the legion in like season 7 and that was with 20 episodes a season give or take and 40 minutes long episodes
@@ytsi7505 yeah but the Legion had very little appearances in Smallville, if memory serves they only had one appearance prior to the episode where they retrieved Brainiac.
Also Smallville’s pacing is much slower than most animated shows, really all MAWS has to do is have the Legion show up in one episode and take the Brainiac core with them by the end then have Brainiac 5 show up in a later episode.
You know that there is a big chance Lex will just keep with the hair... Is not like there is a lot of verisimilitude to the look of the villains

I just saw this finale, and it was just....perfect. I got spoiled a bit since I saw your video, but nothing compared to when Kara flew in to the ship after the brainwashing, and the opening song played. That was just such an anime moment and it was not cheesy as hell. All this grown mid 30s man want was to scream, "Go Kara go!""
Even if we don't get a 3rd season, this ending was so perfect, I would be okay with it.
Wallar being on the run was a highlight
Supergirl is my favorite character. I was really sad when they killed her off for nothing after she went through so much in Crisis on Infinite Earths Part 3. So happy that she did not die in this show, especially after she went through what was basically parental abuse on steroids.
I think season 3 will definitely be the big lex season I really like the supergirl design I actually really like the scarf look for the cape if I’m being really nit picky I do prefer supergirl with the skirt but that’s just a preference thing and doesn’t make me dislike this design in anyway
I saw Gotham being mentioned which immediately jumped my mind to "dear God please let there be a Batman series of this caliber and quality"

This is a very good take on Kara; not the only very good take, but it definitely holds up.
One thing the show was careful to do was make Kara sacrifice herself, what, like three times to make sure we know she's truly reformed. Any one of them them could have been a fatal sacrifice, though they opted not to make any of them fatal, and I'm glad.
This, much like Deadpool and Wolverine, is just what we need to cure us of the accursed Superhero Fatigue.

This was such a breath of fresh air after the disastrous way the Tomorrowverse handled her character in Crisis on Infinite Earths 3.
I still prefer her Comice story how she as a early teen when krypton was destroyed and she got knocked of course and didn’t age until she landed on earth and I like how she doesn’t fit in as unlike Clark she remembers her home and the culture and struggles to manage her powers to where she seen as an outsider to earth so has no real love for them either, and she’s a little lost as her main objective was to protect Clark but he’s grown up just fine with out her , but this still does a great job of still using similar stories points but making it new and changing it just enough so it feels fresh and not a direct copy

About the only thing I don't like with Kara is how she and Jimmy are presumptive boyfriend and girlfriend simply because they're in the same social group with no previous attachments; that sort of thinking is responsible for an awful lot of boys assuming that, if they have a friend-girl, she is destined to become a girlfriend. But I think they could fix that with like two lines of dialogue:
Jimmy: Kara, are you sure you don't like me just because ... I'm one of the few people you even know?
Kara: Jimmy Flamebird, I have met many people on your world. I like most of them. But, I still like you best of all.

Usually it's because she's biologically younger than everyone else. But her she's part of the house of El, so you'd think she'd be a similar size to her cousin.
The only episode I've watched basically all the way through this season are the last two, because I only actually started seeing people talk about it around then. I did not know it was back on.

Dude, Lex is still like 20 and has barely just founded Lex Corp. It’s still way too early for him to lose his hair. I presume he’s going to lose it through extensive kryptonite research and being exposed to its radiation for too long.
I miss the trunks on Superman. Superman without the red trunks is like a suit without a tie! Sure it can work, but it looks so much better included.
Also, I really hope they introduce Batman sooner rather than later. The Batman in this universe would probably be pretty new and inexperienced, which we rarely see. This Superman interacting with greenhorn emo Batman would probably be sooo hilarious.

I would’ve just be a good reimagined because she is really different from the Score Material, what do you think of the second DC Super Hero Girls version of Super were just made her a tomboy, I also don’t think this version of Super girl wasn’t influenced the comics that much because She doesn’t have a father relationship with Brainiac and try to introduce one is going to be forced.

While I do agree that something related to krypton/superman would’ve been a nice touch to lex losing his hair, I do think it’s better that they’re leaving it for next season. They’ve barely developed his character as of now, let him gain some more lore and strength before becoming the bald villain lex
