RIP Gene Wilder - Funny Reactions in See No Evil, Hear No Evil

  • I noticed a lot of Gene Wilder tributes left this movie out. During my childhood, this movie was the most frequent movie of the week on WWOR-TV. So much so, that I could literally quote scenes as a 3rd grader.
    RIP to a great actor, much more than Willy Wonka or Dr. Frankenstein.

    There is a part where Pryor is driving and Wilder is the passenger. Pryor keeps looking at Wilder and Wilder says, "Keep your eyes on the road" and Pryor replies with "If it'll make you feel better". A line I'll never forget.

      The line that sticks with me is a really good joke that I think they could have set up a little better, near the end of the film when they're about to zipline out of the mansion, Pryor's character mentions that he's afraid of heights.

      Back then unless you were some extraordinarily special or talented person, you had to live just as plain old regular life as everybody else across the country and your options on what to do almost all required you go out of the house to one of several specific kinds of venues or events like seeing a movie at the theater (Netflix/hulu/etc.), going antique shopping (Ebay/FB marketplace), go to the mall (amazon), go to a dance or concert or a bar.
      Now it's all indoors online stuff that's niche so everyone has all these different specific interests and don't socialize as much with people different than them so people just aren't making comedies that have that sense of grounding in the real world and relatability to the characters and story even if it is something over the top like brewsters millions where a failed ball player inherits 300 million only if he can spend 30 million in 30 days under a weird set of rules, I love that movie it's just so entertaining and the characters feel real like I genuinely believe they all could be real people not just characters playing some part but real every day people.

    Back when comedy was stylish enough to make characters that you had to love. They're both so good in quite a number of films, but this one was the only one I got to see in theatre. We all had such a great time watching the interaction between these genius men. This and Raising Arizona were the best I got to see as far as strictly comedy films. Ghostbusters doesn't count as though very funny it was more a sci-fi with loads of humour. Other honorable mentions Mickey and Maud, Oh God you Devil and of course Beverly Hills Cop.
    A Fish Called Wanda was a bit too late for me, but if you can find it, check out Splitting Heirs with a lot of the same cast...a hidden gem.

    • @justinmanser7525
      @justinmanser7525 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kevinjones9586 of course, all of the cast being Saturday Night Live alumni. But Sigourney Weaver was in a little known science fiction film called Alien. Was she a comedian in any way at the time? At the age I was when I saw Ghostbusters it was over my head most of the comedy, however I was very stupid until I was 17, mom took me to get fluoride treatment way too much....fucked up my brain on so many levels. I agree with you though, in hindsight it is very funny. There were some scary scenes though like the dog chasing Rick Moranis and the librarian in the beginning, not to mention that conversation between Ray and Winston about Revelations and the dead rising for the end of the world.

    One the greatest comedies ever. This and Pure Luck. Smart comedy - todays comedies are no longer subtle, just over the top.

    Two absolute legends of comedy with such fantastic chemistry... although my favourite part of the film is when Pryor has his freakout because he "finds out" he's black

    Oh I forgot what a joy this movie was. Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor were the best.

    There was a time when Ray Ban sunglasses were sold on a display at the cash register like a last minute purchase. My how the brand has changed into a high end fashion statement.

      Top Gun in the 80s probably boosted the aviator sunglasses prices worldwide.. then Sly was wearing it all the time in the movie 'Cobra' even indoors, but I agree that there was a time that even middle income earners could afford a Ray Ban, late 90s was the last time it was affordable, my brother had a wayfarer but sold it to fund his college field trip, it suddenly went 4x in price afterwards.. it's as expensive as Oakley now..

      That's exactly what was said when Laurel and Hardy died; but they were proven wrong by Pryor and Wilder; I hope there is a replacement for them soon. As a stand-alone comedy actor Steve Martin was also great

    🤣..awww man
    The blind and the deaf what a combination but they made it throughas rough as it was..God helps us even when we feel like we're alone and he guides us to where we need to be..The director was blessed when he directed this one..we will find a way when it seems like theres no way in Jesus mighty name or the God that you serve❤
