I'm ashamed to admit that I wasn't aware of these amazing artists until now.... just bought this album... totally inspiring.. thank you Vijay Iyer Trio
Wow. This trio. Had some serious chills by the close of this. I hadn't picked up on the Tyner feel before - similar power. Vijay coming into his own. Second play through - even more impressive, picking up on new things. Timeless, y'all gonna be part of the canon. Thank you.
Always amazing and challenging listining to Mr. Iyer´s albums and performances. Both individual and collective efforts are amongst the very best music expressions in the last two decades in my humble opinion. Looking forward to seeing this trio in Barcelona by the end of this year!!
I have never heard such hot, awesome drumming dude! You are so gifted man! You make such an impression on me when you performed for Lage Lund on his “Most Peculiar” album! I am very impressed with your performance man! God richly bless you my awesome musician! God loves you very much man! Be blessed my awesome brother! I pray you get invitations all over the world to do your awesome performances! Blessed, anointed talent! Take care!
This was actually recorded by Ryan Streber, chief engineer and co-owner of Oktaven Audio, where the recording was done. Manfred Eicher, the producer, if he was there, would have assisted Ryan with ideas for mic placement, etc. The Hamburg Steinway at Oktaven is absolutely fantastic...
I used to not much care for Vijay because to my ear he didn't "play pretty" (like Geri Allen played experimental but always pretty)- but with this album (and the other 2 musicians) he has picqued my interest and also made me play a little better. I've been listening to this a lot.
Beautifully recorded. Thought is was a SACD. Engineer is Manfred Eicthner and his assistants. I believe he is Keith Jarrett's recording engineer. That explains the superb sonics.
While Eicher was the producer, this was actually engineered by Ryan Streber at his Oktaven Audio studio in Mount Vernon, NY. I think it's fair to say Oktaven is more known for their small ensemble contemporary classical recordings. They did a great job here as well.
Rule number one for the camera team: STOP moving around from one musician to another every 2 or 4 measures. The people who listen to Jazz do not have tiny, little attention spans and don't need to be constantly, visually stimulated.
They were all proficient. They made the soup but didn't make the jelly that only comes from years together, anticipating, This soup will only get better.
Just sublime.
T Sorey, one of the best musicians in the game
Agreed. Tyshawn Sorey and Johnathan Blake are my favorite jazz drummers working today, and I'm happy to have seen them both live multiple times.
@@s.craigzahler8670 👍Gerald Cleaver, Tom Rainey and Marcus Gilmore are just as great
I think Antonio Sanchez is the best young talent on the drums by far. His polyrythm work far exceeds the competition's repetitive one- two rythm .
yes
This is Jazz´s dream team !!
Grandi.Grande il jazz la fisio che ti permette di tirare fuori tutta la creatività.😊

Dear me. Yes.
Bravo!
nice guy to meet, some years ago at Cork Guinness Jazz Festival. True to his Indian duchas (Irish for hereditary!)

You're referring to the editing team.
Although it's fun to draw comparisons across art streams, video craft is different to jazz.
Yes would prefer to linger on a musician as they complete a phrase --- the way one does when watching jazz live!
@@LectroBer so right, but also Rock music is annoying in fast cuttings. It’s not a tiktok game.
hello, anyone know what that pair of mics is on the piano ? are they in M/S ?
Does anyone here remembered WHIPLASH the movie ? 🤔

Is that Sandra Ho on the bass?
