Older sports bikes were the equivalent of today's sport-touring class. Race Replica models made today are not meant at all for comfort. Till about 200 the manufacturers had underestimated how much people prefer to look fast than be comfortable. Just been and got myself a 2001 zx9r black/green amazing colour haven't seen one same locally, absolutely every trick bit accessory u can imagine fitted, had a fortune spent on her , and shes a 1 owner from new , had to collect the bike with a friend to take all the paperwork and history and extra parts in his car , feel like I stole it with the price I paid for her too ! And shes only covered 22k from new every service stamped in the book and even down to paperwork for little things such as bulbs and chain replacements . Its had a break upgrade with some wavey discs and green stuff pads , with upgrade calipers, suspension has been set up perfectly with jst the right amount of slack on the shocks , the bike feels amazing with the steering damper its had fitted , I previously rode a ninja 636 and soon got bored of the power, I can safely say its going to be a very very long time before I see myself getting bored of this one . I underestimated the zx9's power delivery and capabilities with the age and being a carb set up , anyone wanting a usable, powerful, exciting bike with a reasonable budget should consider looking for a well looked after zx9 , you WONT be disappointed... they r getting rarer and more collectable and I think the styling is one that will always fit the road scene.

not judging, but what is it with people i see (mostly in the U.S) riding without gloves and shit man. hell, i be seeing people ride 600's and anything above in a tshirt. just curious, how someone can get on a motorcycle of this size and power without using proper riding equipment. but yeah good video still, nice to watch
I added to a comment a little earlier where they had asked the same questions, but I had recently gone through some gloves and gotten new ones. They just don’t come in time for this particular video haha but thank you for the complement on the video!
This is a common issue for new ZX-9R owners. Something you would have been informed to do on your own if you were on ZX-9R.Net Forums. The pilot air/fuel circuitry in the carburetors gets clogged, especially on a 49-state ZX-9R when the fuel breaks down over time. The smallest passages are the ones to clog first, b/c they are the smallest. The smallest passages are in the pilot circuit. Remove the pilot fuel screws, pilot jets and clean out the pilot A/F passages and jets until they pass fluid at the same rate. Set your PFS to 1.5 turns out and button her back up. In fact, this is the first thing most new owners of a used ZX-9R are instructed to do if the bike only runs at low RPM on enrichener. Had you posted this video you could have saved yourself $500 with free advice. Just sayin. Lesson learned. The work is a simple 2 hour job that anyone with basic tools, skills and a can of carburetor cleaner spray can perform, w/o ultrasonic cleaning. You could have then spent $100 of that $500 on a CarbTune Pro 4 to synchronize the throttle bodies for the lifetime of your 9R ownership and been riding weeks before the shop got it back to you.
I tried to do that as well, before I even threw all the carb components in the ultra sonic cleaner. I even bought those little jet cleaning brushes to get all the jets clean but it was just a matter of tuning and syncing the carbs mixed with bad plugs and my lack of knowledge on how to do it right.
@@marcelofirmino3354 Bad spark plugs, tuning and synchronizing the carbs? You can stick with that story, but you said the bike had to run on enrichener under 2K - 3K and didn't clear up until 4K. In the video, it's obviously running poorly low RPM and sounds like it's running on only a couple cylinders. That's the pilot circuit's job. So it's not electrical, nor mechanical, which takes the spark plugs out of the equation and so too for synchronizing the throttle bodies. The issue in this video is pilot circuit fueling, thus enrichener and thumping on only a couple cylinders until above 3K RPM, when the jet needles would begin delivering fuel. I could be wrong, but I proposed the question on our forum, using this video as a case example. Solve this new owner's issue. The answer was so obvious to everyone that one of our members turned it into a joke just to be funny. Be open to the possibility at least. Come on over. We have a bunch of B model owners from all over the world, making it a great 24/7 resource for all things ZX-9R.
