Yeah what is weird is that I have heard them without the tracks and it sounds different. A true group should be able to sing background with fullness and still be able to belt out their solos. Again not taking away, but I miss the old groups from when I was growing up that didn't have all this technology like The Hawkins Family, The Richard Smallwood Singers, Keith Pringle, Andrae Crouch, Thomas Whitfield & Co., etc.

That's why they switch mikes when it comes time for a person to lead, because the others are turned down lower than generally the one Kurt uses. But again filler tracks are nothing new, a lot of groups these days use them to make for a fuller sound.
