EJ Cardona is Omar's older brother and I think still a member of acapella group Voctave. He also collaborated with VoicePlay on "Go The Distance". Geoff arranged this masterpiece. Geoff's birthday is this Saturday, August 27 (42).

Thanks for your reaction! This song was suggested by Cesar and Geoff arranged it. E J Cardona is Omar Cardona's big brother and he also is the featured guest on Voice Play's "Go The Distance". E J sings with Orlando based acapella group 'Voctave' and has sung (as many 'Voctave' singers have) with Disney's 'Voices Of Liberty'. E J's voice reminds me so much of a cross between a young Smokey Robinson and Aaron Neville. The Cardona brothers are popular and well known in Central Florida's circle singing as session singers and with different groups. Omar Cardona has been in quite a few recent Voice Play covers and is a close friend and roommate of Cesar. I just love the way all their harmonies sound together!

I would love to see EJ and Omar do a video together with Voiceplay. One thing few seem to mention in this video is the visuals. The fact that each person is in a separate room all alone only adds to the feeling of heartbreak. It was a masterful arrangement that was performed with incredible skill with superb visuals. Great reaction. I really enjoyed it. Thanks for choosing this song today.
They all had tears in his eyes during filming. Geoff even cried at one point.
Their voices were so gorgeous! Especially Cesar. I loved the breathy singing like he was about to cry he made me cry with that.
They can go from something like 'Dragonborne Comes,' or 'We Don't talk about Bruno', to this, and then on to 'In the Hall of the Mountain King' or 'Hide and Seek'. I love that they put out covers like this one. It gives you time to breathe and just appreciate their voices and talent.
I love EJ's voice, and I wish they EJ and Omar would to a colab together with Voiceplay. My favorite Voiceplay song would have to be: Can't Help Falling in Love. Geoff said that he cried the whole time editing this song. Hauntingly beautiful is what this song is.
Yep, VoicePlay broke you. Lol it happens to all of us. For me it was Bridge Over Troubled Water and Can't Help Falling In Love that shattered me. Then when Geoff did Shenandoah, it happened again. When it comes to VP and Geoff, I've been broken more times than Humpty Dumpty lol and I wouldn't change a thing
I simply love VP's theatrics and humor, but this one is special, devastatingly beautiful with a gorgeous arrangement and emotional and beautiful performances. It deserves so many more views than it has gotten. Geoff (his arrangement) seems to be able to take in stride, and can put it down to "TH-cam is strange, sometimes the things that people put the least effort into gets tons of views and something else you put your heart and soul and lots of time and effort into gets zilch, and you can never know for sure it you're releasing something at the 'right' time." Anyway, I still hold out a little hope that it will gradually get more views, but I do know that I have NEVER seen reactors get so teary-eyed and unable to come up with a coherent comment as they have done watching this gem.
I think this is my favorite VP song at the moment, but there's honestly about 6 that are at the top of my list and always changing exact position. Maybe react to "Man in the Mirror". It's kind of similar to this in being a more laidback, quiet, 'no gimmick' kind of video, but full of feels as this was J None's taking leave of the group to join the US Navy. Another VP beauty that doesn't seem to get enough views because of being quieter and less theatrical is their beautiful version of "True Colors"
Kind of funny in that I've only watched their "Good 4 U" video a couple of times and never added the audio to my playlist. Some people might put it as having a similar subject matter to this one. But Good 4 U just seems to me like an immature, 'omigod I'm so angry you broke off the relationship and are doing fine' response after a broken relationship. And while I can appreciate that it is an honest reaction/emotion, this song just makes me feel so much more! Here the singer has come to the final realization that the person they love is never going to return the depth of their affection. It's best to leave, and yet they just can't without spending a last night with that person, even knowing that it doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to the singer. It is so full of sorrow, tenderness and honesty...
You're one of my favourite reactors. You;re just so much fun. :) And yes Cesar is amazing. If you know Omar Cardona who also sings with VoicePlay, EJ is his older brother. and sang with VP on Go The Distance. This song was Cesar's suggestion and Geoff arranged it. I don't know how they knew but this song is so appropriate for me at the moment. Just gone through this very thing. And yes it brings tears. And yes, Geoff is a genius.

Favorite Voiceplay songs...
Favorite soft song would be Can't Help Falling in Love.
Favorite upbeat song is Good 4 U. Favorite medley is Wicked.
VP does all these awesome, jaw-dropping epic songs and then remembers they haven't made us cry in a while so they drop something like this. Cesar had me in tears and EJ was perfect as usual. Eli putting the exclamation point on the belts and Layne holding it all together in the middle. And then Geoff and that low bass that just drives home the feels of the song. These guys can do it all and make it sound better than the original. Between Geoff and Layne the talent we see in arranging is phenomenal. This is why they're my favorite--they do it all themselves and nail it every time. Geoff's next solo is going to have you bouncing in your seat since it goes along with another of your recent reactions.
EJ Cardona is Omar’s big brother. He also sang with VoicePlay on Go the Distance. Bu you’ve seen him before as a member of Voctave. (I think I commented then that you would see him again soon - didn’t think you would wait this long.) he also sings (along with his wife and Cesar) with the band Element, often at Epcot. And occasionally with other groups from Hawk Moon Creative. There’s a big pool of talent there and the Cardona brothers are definitely from the deep end!
By far, you wouldn’t have been the first reactor to cry at this masterpiece. But the one that always makes me cry is Heart of Life. That’s the first one they did after Earl left the group. That one doesn’t have any percussion either, so Layne has a much bigger part. (I saw your reaction when you heard Layne sing that one line)
So I’ll suggest True Colors. Layne arranged that one without percussion, so you get to really hear him sing. And he wanted people to really focus on the words.
True Colors is another tearjerker, but SO good.

@Wildecat101 I also want to thank you for the tip on Element and how to find them. I believe I have seen his wife in the American Sirens, another very underrated group. ( I live the harmonies from that era). I read that - somewhere possibly from you, lol. I learn just as much from the commenters as I do from the reactor sometimes.
I especially like some of Voiceplay's other pure (non-theatrical) music. I Can't Help Falling In Love With You, for instance. Or Bridge Over Troubled Water.

I’ve got too many favourites to be able to pick one. The ones that come to the top of my head right now are ”The Greatest Showman Medley”, “If I were a Rich Man/Girl” and “Warriors”.
It is a very different sound from Cesar's Dream On isn't it? He lobbied VP to do this one next. It is so gorgeous and the situation is one familiar to most at least at some time in their lives. EJ Cardona is Omar Cardona's older brother. Both of them have glorious voices. Look up VPs "Go the Distance".featuring EJ who is a member of Voctave, another acapella group. This may be it. The closest contenders are Warriors, Running Up That Hill, Tennessee Whiskey.
You thought Johnny Cash' Hurt was hard to hear, right? This one is just gut wrenching. I've watched this at least 20 times and again with a bunch of reactors. I managed to stay tear freee until you got ahold of it.
Glad you finally got back to Voiceplay. One of my (77) favorites is Can't Help Falling in Love. It has Earl and J None and is sweet.
And just in case you need a Geoff suggestion, make it Shenandoah.

Like I mentioned during the live stream, Cesar will break your heart in this one. His voice, his habit of using that breathy quality when he sings, was absolutely perfect for this cover. It would not at all surprise me if Geoff, the big softy, DID break down from Cesar's part in this. Even though he arranged it! Amazing, amazing, amazing!

It's hard for me to pick a favorite Voiceplay, there are so many good ones. Right now it would be Wicked Medley. Can't tell you how many times I have rewatched that one. Loved when you said 'pizza,pizza'. LOL One that I would highly recommend that I don't think you have seen yet is Voiceplay's 'The Greatest Showman'. That's another great medley.

The feels for sure on this one. The arrangement and every vocal is a step up - mesmerizing and hauntingly beautiful. EJ Cardona is simply outstanding and one of the high tenors from Voctave. They're another group that will leave you in awe and please, you need to react to more of their work - they'll leave you slack-jawed every time! EJ outdoes himself in O Come All Ye Faithful - please don't wait for Christmas to check it out. Other MUSTS are The Prince of Egypt medley (audio only) but it will blow you away; and You Will Be Found - two of their best.
Congrats on being able to appreciate true artistry in every format. In this instance they have touched our hearts and souls and filled them with human emotion.
Go The Distance with EJ is probably one of my favorite VP videos. Their version of that song just hits different

My favorite VPs song is usually the one they’ve just released, at least for a while. I always come back to a few though:
Hoist the Colours for theatricality as well as the stunning arrangement, True Colors and Can’t Help Falling in Love because it’s pure singing, Little Mermaid because it’s fun and it makes me happy, Boy Bands is right up there just because it’s so darn cheerful and they’ve got boy bands from my generation as well as my sons.
Pretty much anything Rachel has done, but now I have to add Ashley to that group, and I really love the Part Work. I believe Tennessee Whiskey is one of the part work series and I really love Death of a Bachelor with just Earl and Geoff doing all five parts including the beatboxing. It really shows off just how versatile they are.
And then there’s the video games - I don’t play, but the Dragonborn piece is almost good enough to convince me to try with my poor eye hand coordination anyway.
Oops. Did I say a few? 🤷🏼♀️ Pretty much - pick one- you can’t lose.
I would like to see some reactor go through their catalog and find the ones that have the least views and expose listeners to pieces that they may not have heard.

I'm with you on Cesar, I think he's the best thing that's happened to VP. I have never actually liked them before they brought Cesar in (with a few exceptions...Oogie Boogie) but since he joined, I guess it added a dimension that was missing for me before. As for EJ...damn his family hit the genes lottery getting both him and Omar. You should check out The Dragonborn Comes for Omar and for just a good time

I'm double commenting again, but I'm gonna suggest "Boy Bands in 5 Minutes" just to give you a laugh after the heart-wrench that was this. BBi5M both is and isn't exactly what you'd think, and it's one of my go-to's when I need a grin.
I actually created a “Cheer up” playlist due to that piece. And I keep adding new stuff to that list every time I get one that just makes me happy. It’s great for when I’m in a really bad mood.

I love little Cesar pizza
I've never liked this song, something having to do with lyrical flow or something. I love this though, the performance transcends the song for me...really don't know how they can make a "meh" song this beautiful.
I love VoicePlay but this song just didn't do anything for me at all. I never was a big fan of Bonnie Raitt.
