  • If you have followed me for a while - you know registration and efficiency are important to me. The new SwingStop accessory for the PantoRouter performs as advertised. If used properly it precisely and quickly registers stock when cutting tenons.
Here's my short walk through of it's use.

Thanks, Clark. Yes - It does save time. It also offers greater precision in registration.

I really appreciate your TH-cam videos, Darrell. Out of curiosity, what type/name are those blue parts containers in the background?

Sorry - this is a very late reply. I just now noticed it! The blue parts containers are from Staples.

a few months ago, I emailed Pantorouter about their recommendation for quickly registering multiple work pieces to the same cut depth. I didn't hear back from them but saw some interesting shop made solutions on social media. This seems to be a better solution than those. I'm guessing there's an adjustment feature that you didn't show in this video? Thanks for posting this - hopefully it will be available soon on their website...

The Swing Stop should be available on their website tomorrow.
      The adjustments are....
1st put the swing-stop in the 4th slot for tenons up to 1 1/2" long. For tenons up to 2 3/4" put the swing-stop in the 3rd slot.
Slide the swing-stop tight against the stock ( stock is tight against the fence).
To adjust the depth of cut touch the bit to the end of the stock and set the stop for the depth of cut as you normally would.

Not sure I fully understand the need for this. I just use my back stop for the router as my depth stop, slide the piece to be tenoned forward until it touches the bit and clamp in place.

This eliminates the need to touch the bit off the stock every time - plus any possible error in multiple bit touch offs . Its a gain in efficiency and accuracy.

@@DarrellPeartFurnitureMaker interesting. I've never had any issues with this method. I'll keep a closer eye on future projects for sure.

What are the main differences between the MR and the Panto router. Why would you need both? Thank you.

    • @DarrellPeartFurnitureMaker
      @DarrellPeartFurnitureMaker  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

You could easily get by with one or the other but they each have their distinctive place in my shop.
The MR is more flexible and adaptable. However the MR is sort of hit and miss if you're using the templates to route joinery. If your bit has been sharpened or if your router has runout - it has limited adjustments to dial in a good fit.
The Panda router's strong point is it's wedge shaped templates. Withy them you can precisely dial in the perfect fit.

My primary machine is the Multi-router but if I have the need to use templates I use the Panto-Router. It really boils down to what you are used to (I have had MR for over 20 years) and what kind of work you do. Both are good machines.
