- Tsukemen is one of my favorite meals from everything I've eaten in my life. I travel to Tokyo just to eat tsukemen. Fuunji in Shinjuku Ward so far is my favorite from the over 20+ tsukemen restaurants I've tried. On this trip, I tried Tabelog award winning Menya Itto, and Taishoken - the originator of tsukemen - to see if I like it better than Fuunji.

Tsukemen 😍👍🍜 We'll need to have it next time we're in Tokyo! 🇯🇵 Nice one Seoul Man 😁🙌
hahaha look! A comment from 3 years ago I haven't replied to! 🤣🤣🤣 I'm sooo bad.... Yes... tsukemen is a must... during your long travel to Thailand, if you get a chance, watch the documentary Ramen Heads... The amount of passion and intensity Tomita puts into his tsukemen is borderline insane...or maybe it is insane... but sooooo delicious. I'll never film when I eat good tsukemen because it takes away from my pure joy of eating😁
Fuunji is indeed one of the best, if not the best, Tsukemen you can enjoy in Tokyo..... I missed it and I would love to visit them soon when this pandemic is over
Clement Te I was just thinking that this morning.. as soon as Japan opens back up to international visitors, I’m making a bee line straight to Fuunji. Been searching for something better, but so far no go. If you ever find tsukemen you enjoy more, please let me know. Thank you!
Great video! I’ve eaten at Fuunji twice - absolutely the best tsukemen of my life. Definitely worth the wait. We have a Taishoken here in Vancouver too but not sure it’s related to the one in Tokyo, though their tsukemen is not bad at all. But a Menya Itto branch has just opened up here so very keen to check it out. Wonder if Fuunji will still be my #1?
There are those blessed to have tried Fuunji, and then there is the rest of the world deprived of that amazing bliss in a bowl. I’d be curious to see what you think of Menya Itto vs Fuunji… if you haven’t yet, the next time you are in Tokyo I recommend trying Tomita. It’s probably the one bowl of tsukemen that made my Funnji foundation shake for a moment. You are lucky you have some decent options in Vancouver. The tsukemen quality in Seoul, and Korea in general, seems much lower than a random neighborhood tsukemen shop in Japan. Thanks for watching and hope you get to try Menya Itto!
@@SeoulMan2020 I’ve finally made it to Menya Itto after their long queues have died down. Really enjoyed their thick noodles, flavoursome broth and meatballs. Their Canadian website states that they’re the Ramen Emperor & King of Tsukemen. Truly this is the best tsukemen I’ve had in Vancouver. But that just means Fuunji must be the God of Tsukemen because my verdict: hands down Fuunji is still my #1! I miss it even more. Can’t wait for Japan to fully open up to tourists so I can try Tomita as you’ve recommended. May our tsukemen adventures continue…
@@suziecho2589 Glad you finally got to try Menya Itto😊😊😊 The line at Menya Itto in Tokyo was crazy, but the one in Bangkok that I go to is usually empty (outside of the lunch rush). The more I try it, the more I can appreciate it....but I agree with you 100%...Fuunji (or Tomita) all the way for me!! I heard Warito in Tokyo is really good... will have to try it once Japan reopens without all the tour group restrictions. Thank you for the tsukemen update and may your days be filled with yummy tsukemen that surpasses Fuunji (so many places in Japan, there has to be...right?)
I've heard that the owner of Fuunji has sold the store and the ramen is no longer as good. Have you tried it recently?
I’ve tried it earlier this year.. both at the original location and the one they opened in Tokyo station.. not sure if it’s because I’ve tried so many other good places over the years after fuunji, or because it’s not as good as it used to be.. but I definitely don’t enjoy fuunji as much as I once did..
Many claim it declined in quality because of the new owner. Still a good bowl but not on the top top top level as it was before.@@SeoulMan2020
Totally agree... But Fuunji will always hold a special place in my belly...it was the first tsukemen I tried years and years ago...and it was mind blowing then...@@whatever1661
agree, it was mindblowing good@@SeoulMan2020
