  • This is how I became a fan of software freedom, full origin story.
    From Windows to GNU+Linux,
from proprietary software to libre software,
from being submissive under proprietary software to proponent for liberation of cyberspace!
Free/Libre software is software that respects the user's freedom. Software that meets the "4 Freedoms" is considered free/libre. The free software movement was started by Richard Stallman to to pursue the liberation of cyberspace. To create a free digital world for computers users.
Richard Stallman started the GNU project to develop an operating system for this, and pioneered the concept of copyleft with their GNU GPL license. Copyleft is a specific kind of a free/libre license that guarantees the user's freedom is preserved when the software exchanges hands.

there is GNU os having linux, freebsd, Hurd as kernel option. Debian had it all, linux is a kernel supported by big company now distroying the core essance of UNIX i.e. the pipe system, now a days linux is doing init system, device driver, network stack... like it wants to eat all.

I have also discovered a system called Dyson OS, which was an unofficial third party version of Debian which ran on the illumos kernel. I made a video about it on my channel, an attempted install but it didn't work properly.
