The Canfranc railway station is so fascinating and crazy. Imagine your traveling with your family with the kids a baby and some baggage, its tiring and chaotic.
It's insane nobody thought of anything of that before building all that. Two groups working totally independent.

People build shoddy homes on fragile cliff faces near a body of water susceptible to storms and surges...then get all surprised when it destroys their homes. LOL. This is why science is important.
Except the houses were built in the 1930s..... The beach would have been way further away.
People who build or buy houses close to the beaches etc should not get any insurance. They have to blame themselves for living so close.

Where does it end? People who live near forests denied insurance because they live near forests?
So you're just going to ignore that natural forces can occur everywhere? Forest fires? Mud and rock slides? Earthquakes? Tornadoes and derechoes? Blizzards? River flood planes? Most places have some risk. Where do you suggest humans build to be able to have insurance?
@@JInuOneSix don't care were, just leave the beaches alone. Its their own fault because they want to live that close to the water. But when this happends and the water takes their house etc they want compensation for their own bad decisions.
@@kempaswe4022 And when people want to live near a mountain and an avalanche takes their home? Or a wild fire burns through a whole city? Tornadoes through the planes. Nature can and will take homes everywhere. This was a century storm that took out 40 meters of land at once.
12:25. Natural erosion? Beach erosion exposing inadequate foundations happens periodically on the east coast of Australia.
Yes but also it was a century storm no one had thought about in 1930 expedited the erosion well beyond normal levels. Kind of hit fast forward on it. Similar thing happened in Nova Scotia when they were hit with a hurricane last year. Basically meters of property gone over night.
I have watched several of these episodes. One thing I don't understand are some of the "experts." I mean, what does a neuroscientist have to do with tunnel leaks in Amsterdam or a biologist with the geology of England??
