I have always put others first. But that’s not fair to me or anyone. It’s gotta be a healthy balance

I question whether this talk is purely by CS Lewis. I’m hearing points that sound like the Law of Attraction, which is not biblical.

We are living in morbidly narcissistic world and environments, where mental illness is becoming increasingly common, more so than the era of Jesus Christ and the first Christians. As true followers of Christ, we need to be able to identify and discern mental illness. Selfishness is never a good thing, however, one must be an able to recognize when Christians are being manipulated or abused by others. The Bible never said to be a wimp or a weak person just because you’re a follower of Christ.. Christ Jesus and the Apostle’s never showed weakness to anyone they encountered. Don’t mistake kindness for weakness..

You are wrong he said love others as you love yourself (2nd commandment ) if you can't love yourself you can't love others

@1234567rek Philippians 2:3-5: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
Actually, Jesus teaches us to put others above ourselves. There you will be selfless instead of self centered. You aren't supposed to be unkind to yourself, but you are to put others above yourself. Jesus tells us that in MANY scriptures. God bless.

Yes, Jesus did teach that, however, consider Jesus ' dealing with the rich young ruler. He wanted Jesus to affirm him, but he would not affirm Christ's lordship over his own life.
