I resonate with the husband and appreciate his initiative to learn Kannada. It's the standard trope in BLR, folks from certain parts of India come and live and mock the local over their food, language and customs. That of course does not go down well with the locals.
Guy is from MH. Where ever Marathi’s go, they make efforts to learn local language.
Mumbaikars definitely resonate more with the south with their humble, practical, brain over brawn outlook rather than the loud, showoff, aggressive, self centered attitude.
I am from Delhi NCR, living in bangalore, because of the weather vibe. It took me 4 days to learn kannda script, as it is equivalent to hindi. I am now learning Kannada as well. So there are north indians too who want to learn local language.
It's only when I booked a flat I felt bangalore will be a long term thing for me and then I started learning the language. Most people who don't learn are in doubts about their long term plan.

Water issue is not exaggerated, big gated societies couldnt source water even when ready to pay any amount. Though the guy is correct that the central Bangalore and smaller houses (more water storage) were not effected.

I was surprised by the rent too...any reason why its so low? May be because that area is dull, offers no lifestyle and infrastructure outside their complex.

@@altmosetz_01 Yes, I expect a working professional to have learnt the local language in 7 years, irrespective of the city. The person need not learn the language before he/she moves to a particular city. This can be done in a couple of years after moving to the city.
According to your logic, residents of Delhi must know Kannada, Telugu, Marathi, Punjabi and all the other languages in order to speak to migrants who speak these languages. It is common sense that migrants must learn the local language and not the converse.

I am a local Bangalorean and we are the most accommodating people. All we expect from people from outside (whether from north or even south states) is to learn basic Kannada and try to assimilate. Lots of people and I hate to say this but majority north indians behave as if we localites have to adjust and speak in their language and that will piss off anyone.
TIp for anyone - wherever you're from and wherever you go to, learn the local language (enough to carry on small conversations) and culture. Doesn't matter if one is a south indian going to north or neighbouring sout states or north indians going to south indis or est to west or whatever permutation ro combination. Make the effort to learn the local language.

Don't understand the fuss about local language/food/traffic/local people etc.. Each city will have its cultural aspects - language/food/people being part of it. So if you're studying or in a job that involves moving to a new place away from home, that obviously comes with the territory, whether it's inter-city, interstate, or even international for that matter. Learn, accept and appreciate the differences ✌🏻

I was in Delhi NCR for past 15 years recently made a stupid decision to moved to Bangalore. Bangalore is by far the worst place to be for any outsiders. While living in Delhi most people don't realise how backward other cities of our country are like Bangalore.
I am from Bangalore (long time almost 30 years). Delhi is the only city in India where no one feels like an outsider.
Don't worry South India will be a different country soon and you can let the backward south live in peace and no more immigrants from this developed north part lol

Then learn kannada. You chose this locality. You need comfort of good whether, high paying salary and what not. But don't want to make an effort and zero interest in culture of the place. @@herambpatkar When auto/ cab guys start speaking their language, few basic words doesn't help. They will understand a foreigner speaking a few words of Hindi but an Indian speaking a few words of Hindi or Kannada is beyond them. And if Kannada words are pronounced wrong they get all the more uppity
Tho true old time locals of Karnataka are some of the nicest people who will try to understand whatever you speak & will go out of their way to help you .
@@altmosetz_01 I dont know what Bengaluru autowalas are smoking these days 😂 but here in Mumbai, speaking basic Marathi can definitely aid you whether its dealing with Police, Government offices or local customers of your business.
