🇳🇱 - Sprakeloos was ik! Met haar mooie en krachtige stem en persoonlijkheid gaf ze dit Nightwish-lied een geheel nieuw geluid. Maar als een oprecht gevoel!!! Ze veranderde 'Our Decades In The Sun' in een Nederlandse 'Samantha' versie! En hoe groot is de kans dat we allebei een liedje over ouders kiezen en 'mamaaaaaa' voor elkaar zingen? Geestverwanten lijken we 🙏🏻 Samantha zingt in het Nederlands en heeft een carrière opgebouwd die het waard is om in te duiken. Ze zal de komende tijd niet alleen zingen, maar ze danst ook in een Nederlandse tv-show 'Dancing with the stars'!
🇬🇧 - Speechless she left me! With her beautiful and powerful voice and personality, she gave this Nightwish song an entirely new sound. But as heartfelt!!! She turned ‘Our Decades In The Sun’ into a Dutch ‘Samantha’ version! And what are the odds that we would both chose a song about parents and sing ‘mamaaaa’ to each other? Kindred spirits we seem to be 🙏🏻 Samantha sings in Dutch and has build up a career worth diving into. She will not only be singing the coming time but she’s also dancing in a Dutch tv show ‘Dancing with the stars’!

I still haven't been able to listen to the complete song (in English). It's too much especially the way you sang it Floor. Couldn't do it here either even though it wasn't in English. Samantha picked the perfect song!

The more I watch this show, the more I fall in love with those singers.
Same here! Even with all the different backgrounds and styles I can't help but feel connected to all them. Which is at the end what this show is about, true connection of humans of all kinds through music of all kinds too!
The secret is:
The singers are invited without there partners, kids or managers.
They choose the songs by themselves to sing for the guest of the evening, Floor in this case.
Managers or partners can not make any influence on the singers, the singers are really free to make their own decisions.
With the host of the show they are with 8 people.
Every singer sings for an audience of 7 people, very cosy and small.
Emotions will come out, when another singer touch the guest of the evening.
And the sunny location where they stay, is Ibiza or something like that in Spain.
Sun, beach, cosy and a beautiful stage, only singers and no mangers, will set them free.
Thats the magic i guess.
Rocco Stafford They stay for abt 4 days on the island of Ibiza (hotel/finca Atzaro) not located near a beach. This year they were there mid April. In those 4 days they record over 50 songs, which they have practised "at home" the months before.

Huge respect for Samantha doing this as rock as the original. This is absolutely equal to the Nightwish original! And yet she brings in her own personality... don't forget to mention that Samantha sang in Dutch. This is brilliant!!!
Just. Perfect. That look that Floor has on her face at the end, that is the look of millions of people around the world who have watched Floor and had that same expression.
It's not that much different compared to the original and I can't understand a word she's singing but damned it brought a tear in my eyes.
FYI Even though they translated it the core of the song stayed the same as to the original version.

Yes, but Google Translator says the name of the song is " I'm always close to you ". Strange. Because that's the chorus of the song. Is it a mistake ?

@@edudario1974 Well, it is slightly more descriptive. And songs, like movies, often get alternate or additional titles with the other sometimes put in parentheses like "I'm always close to you (Our Decades In the Sun)".
Literal translations never work, it's an adaptation.

Last october my dad suddenly passed away and I've spent the last year being the proverbial 'strong son' for my mother. I've never been one to show (or talk about) how I feel but this song shattered me completely. I'll only ever admit this here, but this had me sobbing, for the first time in 25 years.

@Superpiair1 you don't understand. Our decade in the sun will never be played live by Nightwish. This song will always remain only in studio version. That's why it's very special.
They mentionned that it has never been played live before during the show.

This was absolutely the best efford of the evening. Leather dress, Nightwish song (with Floor), and her own lyrics. and flawless singing...Fantastic!

Samatnha did a great job with vocal dynamics in this song, from the soft beginning to parts when she had to really dig in and belt them out. Her voice worked beatifully with the music. Great props to the band that had to improvise in terms of not having the benefit of a full orchestra. :-)

Ik ben een grote Nightwish fan en Decades in the sun is wel een favoriet. Nederlands talig was nooit zo mijn ding maar deze knalt even binnen bij mij. 1 Dec 2019 is mijn moeder overleden. Met deze houd ik het niet droog ❤️❤️

Samantha did an exceptional job with this song. It's ironic that she got to sing it live before Floor did. Nightwish has never played it live before because it's apparently too emotional for them. Seems like Tuomas is still mama's boy. Aren't we all. :)

Geez..I dont understand the language of the lyrics. But the language of music and song is universal. This is the first time I have seen or heard this lady sing. Her ability to portray and deliver a song needs no interpretation....Simply Wonderful Samantha.

The funny thing is, after listening to some of her own stuff here on YT, Samantha was one I had no idea how she would go about this song. Listening to her music is like having curve balls thrown at me, never knowing what she'll do next. I love curve ball throwning artists.
