so glad to see South Africans embracing different weight-loss methods. The truth is being overweight really affects your quality of life and a better quality of life is what we are after
I had gastric bypass 18 months ago.. it changed my life drastically. From 153kg to 105kg and still losing..im forever indebted to my surgeon..im a very slow loser but im fine with that. Diabetes reversed, blood pressure normal, cholesterol good, sleep apnea gone.. i now walk between 15000 to 20 000 a day..Go for it if you get the chance.
To think that you were just a kid at St Francis and now you’ve become such an amazing human ❤ . You’ve always been smart and you were bound to succeed. Thank you for sharing your journey .
16:44 no fizzy drinks, cut carbs, more water, more fish, protein, fruits, nuts, couscous salads for lunch, soup for dinner, yogurt Take long walks, yoga, stretching
You always articulate yourself so well. You touched on some important points and I think anyone watching this has learned about how to approach basically any situation. So proud of you for being brave. Hope you will continue to enjoy this journey.
I had my sleevectomy a year ago this month, and yes, it is Not a quick fix, rather a lifestyle change. Congrats on making the best informed decision for yourself! Blessings 😊
So happy for you Lungile, you look Devine. Just glowing with health & happiness, which to me is the crux of why we want to lose weight and feel good. I'd love some interior design content e.g. where to draw inspiration for styling your first home, how to show your personality in your styling choices and how to refurbish different parts of the home. Again, you look amazing.
Thank you so much for sharing. It is a struggle to lose weight, and times when we look at other people that have lost weight and they made it look easier we think that will be the same for us too. But we are different, everyone must just do what is best for them.
Congratulations for your achievement I am struggling with body weight, and it affects my general health & mental health. I am going for gastric bypass surgery, but I am scared. I would appreciate any advice. Do you ever regret your surgery??
@@aminamahmoud4382 ill never regret doing gastric bypass. When I dropped the weight my confidence was boosted. I started for me not for the fact that someone feels pitty for me. By the way, I was bullied from a younger age about my look. Worse is that I am a twin; so, I was always compared with her. Told she was more attractive than me. I met a guy I truly loved and decided to go for surgery. He said he loved big women but to me everyone told me that and later showed me flames. After 1 year of losing the 40kg I got married. He helped me change my look. How I dress. I love everything about me with my lose skin now.
Thank you Lungile for sharing this with us. I have always admired your confidence and your beauty way before the weight-loss. You look even more beautiful and happier ❤Congratulations ❤❤❤ The day I have enough money I'm definitely going for weight-loss surgery.
Thank you for documenting your journey, I share the similar weight related issues and it’s more frustrating in my 30’s, my metabolism is slower than it was in my 20’s.. Spoke to my Dr about this, it’s definitely a huge consideration for me
Congratulations Lungile , we are young and so being overweight is not good as its affect our overall health the truth is some people have lost their lives through obesity and if you have the means to get weight loss surgery I advocate for it . Let’s be the generation to take care of ourselves I love this very much such an inspiration. One more question do you have any scars from your surgery ?
Thank you and yes I totally agree! I have 5 small scars on my abdomen as the surgery was done laparoscopically so the scars are from those access points used
well done! you look great... dont give up the good eating and working out now and then, you made a choice for your health but most importantly , your happiness. gorgeous before and definitely even now.
Why didn’t you do it in South Africa? I know a family friend who’s done it in South Africa as it’s becoming quite common here as well Edit:never mind; you answered this question towards the end of video, so it was a cost factor, it’s cheaper in Turkey than SA. Makes sense
Hi loves. So glad to come across your video, very helpful and reassuring. I i have my vsg surgery in 15 days with Dr Vehibe Işık (also through The Clinique). Just wondering, were you provided with shakes, meds etc to take home with post op? Any tips on what to take/pack with me? I’ll be there for 8 nights, and travelling solo as well. Super anxious 😩 but excited at the same time. FYI You look amazing 😍
Hi Stephy, congrats on taking this huge step for your health. I was provided with medication for when I returned home but no shakes or anything else post op. I also packed gaviscon which helped with my gastric reflux post surgery. But I’d also recommend packing your own soup sachets (a variety ) because you can’t eat much of what is available at the hotel post op. Also comfortable clothing , a long charging cable for the hospital (don’t forget your international adapter) . Buy a sim card with data when they pick you up from the airport and your network will be affected largely (roaming doesn’t help). And upon check in ask for a room with a window/ sliding door( weird request I know but some don’t and it gets claustrophobic). Also save your correspondents WhatsApp numbers and don’t be afraid to contact them, they are there to help you with ALL your needs. Tell the doctor you’re my friend and that I said she should take good care of you ♥️ More than anything stay calm and pray, you are going through a difficult journey but it will be worth it.
You look amazing Lungi😍😍. Your facial bone structure is structuring!! Tjo you are gorgeous..looking forward to you posting more content on TH-cam!! Thanks for sharing..
I've been struggling to lose weight for the past 4years, my feet are always swollen, especially my ankles. Im saving up for this procedure. Your journey has been amazing. Thank you for sharing with us Lungile ❤❤.
Take sea salt or Celtics salt with water. Put little under your tongue then drink water, I do this 3 to 4 times a day, the swelling has gone down. The salt is available at dischem.
I’m going through the exact same thing. I went from 72 to 93kgs in under 3years. I’m insulin resistant and pre-diabetic and have been put on glucophage but it’s just not working. Can you please share the link for the place where you had the surgery.Thank you so muuuuuch for this information Lungile☺️
Same I went from 78 to 101kg in 2 years and it’s the ghetto. I’m seriously considering this because according to my bmi I should weigh 63kg which is unrealistic to me but if I can get to 70kg I’d be happy
Thank u so much for sharing your journey sis- Just one question- if you ever decide you want to fall pregnant, have the drs advised how you will go about ensuring your baby has enough nutrition etc since your portion are super small
Congratulations Lungi, you deserve this and I applaud, weight loss takes discipline and hard work. Well done. I also changed my diet last year and I lost more than 16kg. I will always advocate for people prioritising their health, whichever way they choose to. Well done sis 🎉🎉❤
Hi congratulations on your new body you look amazing that's an inspiration, I have a question since ur on 75kg do you continue losing weight or there is a certain weight whr u want to stop losing and how do you stop it from losing more??
Congratulations for your achievement I am struggling with body weight, and it affects my general health & mental health. I am going for gastric bypass surgery, but I am scared. I would appreciate any advice. Do you ever regret your surgery??
Hi Lungi thank you for sharing. How is the acid reflux now? Is there a reason you chose the sleeve over the gastric by-pass which i read stops acid reflux?
My acid reflux was No so severe that it would affect my decision on the weight loss surgery I chose to have. What was more important to me was avoiding any sort of bypass
Thank you for sharing your experience❤❤❤.... so what is going to happen happens when you have reached your dream weight? How do you maintain/stop the weight loss?
Thanks for sharing and congratulations 🥳. Can’t wait to see how 2024 will look like for you in your new body and mindset. I hope you don’t mind me asking - does the surgery have any impact on fertility and being able to carry a pregnancy 🤰?
Thank you so much! No it doesn’t affect fertility, if anything while I was doing my research I came across a lot of information suggesting that weight loss increases one’s chances of fertility
I am a 109kg and want to only lose 30 kgs because i like the thick structure but i know most people lose over 50kg and diet is not working i feel so stuck 😢
I went to Turkey for same procedure last year. The procedure is about R60,000, flights are about R20,000 max return direct to Istanbul if you fly between Mar - Oct, Nov-Feb is about R15,000 max return direct to Istanbul- what airline did you use that cost max R50,000?

I'm also curious about this.
depending on your goal weight, yes that is very possible. After the first year, it is more so about maintaining your weight through a change in lifestyle habits established within the 1st year post surgery.
