Mathew Knowles on Solange Tackling the Topic of Race More Than Beyonce (Part 3)

    Part 2: goo.gl/eNXdCB

    --------------------------------------------------
in this clip, Mathew Knowles discussed how race and other social issues were brought up in his household. He explained that it was a relevant topic to how he raised his two daughters. However, the absence of social consciousness in the early Destiny Child's catalog as well as Beyonce's early solo work can be attributed to timing.
Mathew Knowles pointed out how Marvin Gaye didn't put out "What's Going On" until later in his career and Beyonce has shown a similar trajectory in terms of tackling those issues. He conceded, however, that Solange is the one who takes on those socially pressing topics more than her older sister.

Beyoncé once said that she didn’t know she was receiving bad press because she doesn’t get into it. This was around “4.” So if she doesn’t, it’s not a stretch for him to NOT follow her press. S/O to yo grandma tho lol

People can say all they want “He loves both his daughters” but from how he’s talking it sounds like he has resentment towards Beyoncé. To say after he became a father aka got fired he stopped following her career. WTF you’re her father from birth!!

I find it hard to believe he didn't hear about the Beyoncé Super Bowl back lash. You either have to live under rock not to hear about it. It was all over the news, radio, magazines, skits, and internet. I find it odd that a father of 4 acts like he only has 2 kids.

Beyonce got the pop culture status and then she started discussing race issues. Solange made her political music apart of her branding in a wage of "wokeness" which was smart because her music didn't sell prior to that. I hope he has made amends with his daughters for the humiliation he has caused his ex-wife.

I love that he says when i became a father I became a father. I know that was such a turning point in their relationship but so profound for the both of them to make that switch from such a professional relationship to now just receiving the love of strictly father and not as father/manager.
