About to pull the trigger on a new Water Tank. What are your thoughts on the water tank now that you’ve had it for over six months? Any issues or concerns? I’m debating on the 7 or 5 gallon. Because of weight concerns, I’m leaning towards the 5 gallon. Ideally, I’d like to have a 7 gallon but my roof rails are rated for 165lbs and with my RTT, I’ll be just over the weight limit when the tank is full.
So I've received three different tanks from Roam and all three can't hold pressure above 20psi. They bleed air through the escape valve if fed anything more. Roam says it should hold up to 30psi so not sure what's happening....?
Getting those nuts on/off the mounting brackets should be enough determent...lol They are a pain in the ass. If someone wants it that bad, they can have it.
Thanks for the install and trouble shooting. Awesome product for the avid camper. Would be cool to have the race track too! I can think of so many uses.
So this ONLY works on a flat surface? I rarely have that so would this work if the truck was parked nose down? This was designed for overlanding right??
Thanks for the video! You have this mounted to a Prinsu Rack correct? Could you let me know how tall it is from the top of the cab? I’d really appreciate it!
Seems like a pretty big flaw having to be on level ground for it to work. I think the RV pump Jerry cans are a better solution and can be made at about half the price
Hey Hugo! Thanks for the reply! So I'm not sure how you can add hot water to the tank BUT I do know that with this system, since it's made of metal and painted black, it actually gets heated by the sun. If you have a nice sunny day, you'll be able to enjoy a warm shower after it's sat in the sun for a bit. Obviously, if its cold outside or cloudy, the water might not be as warm.
I'm curious as to your reasoning behind it being the worst tank. From the other overland tanks I've seen out there, they all have similar designs. This one just happens to be made of aluminum so possibly a slight weight difference but when you factor in the rest of the weight of the water, it's going to be pretty minor. I like that it's made of aluminum actually. I'm notorious for clipping branches so the extra strength is definitely nice to have.
I’m not a big overlander, maybe a weekend warrior a few times a year. I am an avid surfer and do a lot of beach sports and fishing. This is great for what we need at a beach. I use this for showers and hosing off stuff. I’m not sure what overlanding guys are doing with it but I’m guessing showers and cleaning stuff. In my opinion, this isn’t for drinking water use cases. I’d use domestic water jugs for that.
Thanks for the comment! The actual tank itself is Aluminum so definitely not like the cheap plastic tanks from other overland water tanks. Yes, there are plastic components like the shower head and the valve at the back but even shower heads for homes are mostly plastic. Im really impressed with the quality of the tank and not really worried about the little plastic that is on the tank. Worse case, I go to Lowes and buy new fittings. Have a great day!

Reminds me of the Yakima shower system. Yakima uses aluminum for its tank.
Yeah I kept an eye on the Yakima tank too. But it's said to contain a little bit lead so... Kinda concerned.
Is there a lock to deter theft?

if i have a 49" wide rack and a RTT, will there be room to mount this?

Thanks Steve! I could definitely see having a water tank at the race track being useful! Thanks for the comment!

Any overlanding water tank will result the same. It’s physics. Just level off the truck.
would this mount to load bars on the smartcap?
It can yes, It has universal mounting hardware so it can mount to almost any cross bar.
@@HorizonBound Thanks!

Great video dude! Looks so rad too, I love Roam products
Thanks brotha! Ditto! They have really awesome stuff!

What a great install video! Might have to grab one!’
I'm loving mine! Just used it this past weekend for cleaning some camp dishes and the pressurized water pressure really helped speed up the process!
Love this I’m planning to get myself one!
You're going to love it!
Awesome setup! how would you go about adding hot water to this system

Instructions say, " Do not add hot water."
Let the sun heat naturally.
If not, cold showers.
What is the system you use to pressure tank?
I have an ARB dual air compressor that I use. You can use air compressors or you can even use bike tire inflators.
You need to fill the tank
Lol that does help!
Still not a big fan of having that much weight up top
Lmao you can make this easy for sub $100 😂
Worst water tank I've ever seen. Bad design for overlanders. Definitely skipping this one.
Why tho. Its just like any other roof top tank.

@@matthewmartin9540 Having a tank for drinking water is not a good idea, absolutely...
Way over priced plastic
