- The ROTO features a wandering hour movement, inspired by the spinning gambling table, which sets it apart from other watches. Redesigned from MIYOTA 9039, the movement consists of three rotating discs with numerals that move synchronously to tell the time. This innovative feature not only adds a playful element to the watch but also makes it easier to read the time with just a glance.
With the OLTO-8's extensive watchmaking experience and the unbeatable price, it's no wonder that ROTO is set to become a top favorite wandering hour timepiece among watch enthusiasts

Wow, I love this watch! Hate TH-cam for making me miss my video notifications! Time to buy another watch.
Plenty more coming up
I really like the design of this watch and the fact that it is a 39mm makes me even more interested in it. I am a Lume fan and I didn't expexct it to have any 🤤 I am sure it is a great conversation starter too. Great piece !
For me, the selling point was the price. It’s under 400 bucks which is a steal
@@allthingsrandom8137 Absolutely!
So slick! I like how quirky this brand is overall. This is the most attractive/appealing piece I’ve seen from them. Dig it.
I love the Iron a little better, but this is a close second. This I think is a great dress watch for sure
Cool watch, I’d wear it 👌🏼👌🏼
Yeah, and the blue looks great
Love this complication
You can find watches with this wandering hour mechanism for less than $140 these days (e.g. Pindu). They use a modified (stripped) Miyota 8215 movement, come in various colors and designs.
First I was intrigued by the idea of displaying the actual time this way. But a closer look shows how simple this mechanism really is; it was already used 400 years ago. It only needs a single (minute) drive shaft in the centre. Almost as minimalistic as the 'monotimer' watches with a single drive shaft and hour hand.
🤔🤔🤔very intrigued by this monotimer from 400 years ago. I guess I have a rabbit hole to go down
@@allthingsrandom8137 Misunderstanding? The 'wandering hour' mechanism dates back to the 17. century (16xy), some Pope wanted it as far as I recall. The design of real single hand 'monotimers' (like my tiny Luch wristwatch from Belarus) may be even older. Early clock mechanisms ONLY showed hours. They were notoriously bad in holding exact time, making a display of hour fractions impossible. Only after clocks had better regulation the extra hands (minutes, later seconds) were added.
All out my head, Google/Wiki is your real friend!
Very interesting although I'm not the biggest fan of the wondering hour complication This one has peaked my intrest but as soon as I hear kickstarter I'm out I have had a couple of bad experiences that keep me from going for it Anyways another killer review my friend Be well and Stay Frosty 👍
Yeah, I can definitely understand the hesitation with Kickstarter. I think that because they’re so well-established already They just want to test the market to see how much the interest is.
@@allthingsrandom8137 Great point but there are many other ways for market research and listening to customers and potential buyers of other brands that have gone with this particular complication its been around for years but not necessarily in this more acceptable case dimension Thanks for sharing my friend Be well and Stay Frosty 👍
Thanks for showing the watch!
Happy to do it
I think the most attractive point of this watch is the shape and the size of the case. As most of the size of the watches with this wandering hour style in market are larger than 40mm that the outlook is so chunky!😅
Great point
Definitely a complication added to my "Grail" list👍🏾
Definitely eye catching
Not a fan of the wandering hour style but cool watch and enjoyed watching how they’ve packed value into it for a great price
Agreed
Thanks for the review. Does it wear “larger” than 39mm because it’s all dial?
Opposite. Wears like a 38 mm. Very thin for the complication
@@allthingsrandom8137 Awesome!
@@allthingsrandom8137 I have it person and you’re 100% correct. It wears “small” and compact considering the way the dial is designed. It reminds me of the Mido Multifort after putting it on a tan strap. This is a watch that will be hard to appreciate in pictures and videos.
@@ronb4115 well said
Ohh and once I saw “flux capacitor” I can’t unsee it.
The sped up timelapse portions look jerky. Is that the watch? Does that affect accuracy?
This is just the nature of a wandering hour complication. It does not affect the accuracy. And even the more expensive $1300 one that I did from Atowak did the exact same
@@allthingsrandom8137 Great to know, thank you! I think your review is the first I've seen with that sort of timelapse. I backed for the blue version. Even if it does affect accuracy it's not like this watch will time track days or anything.
Wait, it has an ENAMEL dial for under $400 with this complication?
Correct
@@allthingsrandom8137 I don't think it is real enamel, that would be impossible to do at this price!
Hi guys, does anyone know genuine & professional third-party wristwatch manufacturers in China who can design good quality watches designed by me under my own label?
