    I prefer the neutral ending. Just blowing up the planet wastes all the blackstone that can be harvested from it, and handing all that knowledge over to “The Dragon” is monumentally bad for many reasons. It’s why Faustinius is honestly one of my new favorite tech priest characters. He’s not a frothing fanatic or a willfully naïve technophile. And he actually respects and cares for the units under his command. He’s just an overall competent and balanced guy.

    It's interesting how the Necrons talk like people and the humans talk like aliens. That's kind of how I see alot of humanity in 40k. As alienating and inhuman.

    • @GalisSlipscale
      @GalisSlipscale 2 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      The 'why' they became as they are is a big part of that. Both the Necrons and the Mechanicus seek (sought? in the Necron's case, because they found it) mechanical immortality. Both cursed 'the frailty of flesh'.
      But ultimately, the Necrons wanted to preserve what they were, and technology was a means to that end. They utilize, not idolize technology.
      The Mechanicus, on the other hand, wants to be more like the machine. They worship it after all.
      Of course the C'tan cheated the Necrons in their own way, but yeah, it's always been interesting to line these two factions up and see the Necrons are more human-like than the Mechanicus, because of WHY each faction made the similar choice was different.
      Like here's another great example from Gothic 2; Trazyn the Infinite intervening to save the human armies on Cadia from Chaos, and his conversation with Archmagos Cawl. Trazyn is the interloping alien but he sounds like 'just some guy' and has a human silhoutte whereas Cawl struggles to form human-like speech patterns any more and has a tentacled monstrous silhoutte:

      @@GalisSlipscale There's more nuances to it, tbh. I haven't checked up what happens when the Silent King returns, but until that point the Necron dynasties were quite dispersed in their goals. Ones were looking for a way to restore their souls and biological forms to get rid of the 'shells' the C'tan encased them in; others saw theidr current forms as the ultimate weapon. Some sought to restore their power across the galaxy and could consider enslaving other races(hence the willingness to communicate); some just went on a extermination crusade; some got tied up in the schemes against other dynasties. I assume the Silent King could get most dynasties under one banner again, but I suppose the question of what to do with their bodies would still remain.
      AdMech are, admittedly, crazy. Since they do everything they can to be less like regular organic humans(or other organic beings, for that matter), it would be fitting that they would develop their own forms of communication that were more efficient and more appropriate for the machines, at least in their eyes. Theyre voluntarily alienating themselves from other races, to the point where anyone(AdMech included) would look at them and not recognize humans in them anymore.
      tl;dr Necrons' mechanical form was forced on them. They got used to it, but some could go back to organics, given the chance. AdMech are developing their own way to go full machine. Once they do, they ditch organic bodies altogether.

    • @vothbetilia4862
      @vothbetilia4862 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not True at all, just because the Admech chooses to strip some of their flesh, that doesn't mean their not human still, they even stated one point, that becoming too much of a Literal machine would make them not Human by nature. They only put machine parts on themselves because they want to cover up their weakness and not die easily and to worship the machine god.
      If they truly were less regular organic humans or weren't humans at all, well they would've completely remove their emotions and act like actual robots.
      They're also completely fine with tech priest and some units to keep their flesh intact if they wish unless it's a particular role such as the skitarri vanguard who have to be covered with armour and metal to take on stronger foes.
      Also I like to point out that Trazyn actually willingly went into the furnace and the reason it's true is because Orikan the Divener witnessed him when he was there with him and saw it all. So Trazyn saying that is hypocrisy.

      That and its more to the fact the Mechanicus are speaking Lingua Technica which is a different language whilst the Necrons communicate using a speech that can be understood to all sentient species without translation.

    This game NAILED the 40k universe on so many levels. The banter, the tone, the dialogue... the writing is simply fantastic in quality. Details like voice acted Necrons while humans have none are the sorts of subtleties that build up to more than the sum of their parts. One of my favorite games of all time because of the writing.
    Gameplay is solid, kinda gimmicky and really exploitable though.

      @@MechaWings The Emperor was a hypocrite, sure. But I can't imagine he intended for a faction worshipping the thing. When He was around, He could probably just smack the C'tan shard back into submission if it got too uppity, and He certainly wouldn't be fine with xeno-worshippers.
      As far as I can tell, His plan was to get rid of Mechanicum after Great Crusade, like He did with Thunder Warriors once they were no longer useful. Neither side was entirely happy with the arrangement, if Mechanicum would get their grubby mechadendrites on an intact STC, they wouldn't need the Imperium, and once the humanity was united, it would be stupid to rely on Mechanicum to handle all technology. The Emperor needed their help to start the crusade when He was in a hurry and couldn't afford to waste time fighting them and then establishing a new industrial base for the Imperium, but the existence of the machine cult goes against His vision of secular Imperium.
      The Necron themselves very much agree with the Imperium that having a powerful free C'tan shard doing its own thing is not a good idea.

    I think destroying the Necrons is the right choice at the end, which is why i teamed with Videx.
    While Scaevola’s choice could lead to great discoveries, they would most likely get overrun by the other awakening necron tombs on the world, or fall to heresy themselves.
    Destroying the planet seems like the safest, and most reasonable choice in the grand scheme of things.

    • @Kiljaedenas
      @Kiljaedenas 2 ปีที่แล้ว +41

      Counterpoint: the knowledge gained from the world could be the first new knowledge that humanity has gained in millennia, and they may finally be able to advance. For the longest time, all of the technology "advancement" of the Imperium has been through the recovery of STC fragments...which are blueprints for devices given to ancient colonizers to use to set up new colonies. The Mechanicus focus most of their efforts in collecting these and interpreting them, but this is simply recovering already-invented designs. Actually creating new designs which could work better is typically considered heresy and isn't done, so another race that is enthusiastic about R&D like the Tau could potentially outpace them FAST, if left to their own devices.
      I far, FAR prefer Scaevola's ending.

    • @Kiljaedenas

      @@genericscout5408 I'd disagree. What's made in the past is not only unchanging, it also becomes known to the enemy and they can adapt specific counters to it. Quality over quantity, always; that comes true so often in both other games and real life it's practically gospel.

    How would it not be the Omnissiah's will to turn these weapons against the enemies of man? The Omnissiah blesses their machines, grants them power, and yet would be ashamed if his followers found ways to improve them, all while glorifying his name?
    The second option is by far the most reasonable. If the Omnissiah is all he is cracked up to be, he can bless the new weapons made from this knowledge.

    • @SapFeaRon
      @SapFeaRon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Omnissiah is C'tan, "the dragon" which they refer to in one ending. Necrons killed C'than and you suggest bringing necron tech to Void Dragon to bless it?? If anything, it will break out of prison using that tech and after that...nothing good will come out, that's for sure.

    Side with Scaevola: More knowledge?

    I guess siding with Videx is the most "reasonable" choice.

    • @MechaWings
      @MechaWings  2 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      I see a lot of people saying that, probably because they are too much absorbed into 40k to realize how stupid of a decision that is. Videx is nothing but a dogmatic asshole that lives to quote religious books and accepts nothing outside of them, his ending is nothing but the apotheosis of bigotry and an enormous waste of resources. Similar arguments could be made for the other endings, of course, and that's because there's no Good Ending, that's why I put "Good" in quotes in the title. Videx's ending seems the most reasonable because it changes nothing, it's just stagnation.
      Sorry for unwinding under your comment specifically, i just felt it better than one of the hundreds of dumb "This is the good ending" comments under my "Bad"/Necron Ending video.

The Infiltrator is kinda useless, but the Ruststalker is similar to the Melee Skitarii Ranger but also builds up Crit Chance and Damage the longer he fights, which makes it one of my favourites.
      If instead you're referring to the high cost units, those are the end game Troops Kataphron Battle Servitor and Kastelan Robot, you usually can only get one of them up to level 3 because of the weird unlocking mechanisms this game has. I usually tend to go for the robot as seen in the video, since it's by far the strongest Troop in the game, with a lot of combat options too.
