Good ole Rick Steeves. I binge-watched anything he had on Portugal when I had a month between booking and leaving for Portugal. His videos were so helpful. Congratulations on making the move. If I could do it over, I'd take my daughter (who is an adult now) and move to Europe.
We spent 3 months in Lisbon earlier this year and absolutely loved it! We're thinking that it might be where we would like to live, and so we're checking out the requirements for a D-7 visa. Thank you! Yes, we did. We ended up hiring a immigration lawyer to help us figure everything out. It’s possible to do without a lawyer, but it just makes it WAY easier. :)
Hi Mandy and Kyle, congrats on the big move! My husband and I sold our house, cars, etc. to travel fulltime. We are starting out with ten weeks in Portugal before heading to South America. Portugal is amazing! I think you will love it. When you get to Lisbon, let us know if you want to meet up.
Great video! My wife and I are almost done with the visa process ourselves and are living in Braga! Love your drone footage, I would love to know how your drone registration went (I am struggling completing it!)
Congratulations on your move to Braga! We have friends up there and they say it is incredible. We did our drone registration a couple of years ago- so I can’t remember all the specifics. But I do know that the registration for the lighter weight recreational drone is much simpler than the heavier commercial drone which requires a heftier commercial license. But don’t quote me on that- the craziness of the move has made past specifics a little fuzzy haha. Thanks for your comment! :)
@mandyandkyle Braga sure is beautiful! It has been very rainy this past month or so, but we do not mind the rain. Thanks for the feedback on the drone. They request some document I cannot locate and cannot find any info on it either. It is a mini 4 pro so only 249g.

Hi Guys were you able to get your NHR status by end of the year. CONGRATS. Looking forward to following you. Yes it is not easy. I was coming to Portugal this winter to buy a property and they just pulled the NHR. So knocked my trip in half and headed to Italya again. Will see what happens with portugal in 2024. I have been selling all my stuff little at a time. WOW you not only had you two but two kids and a dog. WOW....I will sell my house next fall or end of summer and be somewhere in Jan 2025. I will be shipping a 4x4x4 pallet through UPS then take rest on plane. So selling A LOT. I totally get it. Thanx for sharing this. We don’t feel qualified to talk about taxes as our lawyer helps us navigate all that not so fun tax stuff ;) . But I can recommend a great law firm here in Portugal if you are looking for one!
