The Slaws head to the Motorhome Show at the NEC in Storm Babet! It's a rough drive through flooded roads to a pub stopover at The Trent Lock pub in Long Eaton, near Nottingham.

Settling down to catch up with The Slaws. How much rain??!!! Storm Babet looks brutal. Ooh, would love a pub stop and this one looks lovely. Food sounds great, Argentinian Malbec, excellent choice!!! Enjoyed a bottle of Malbec over the weekend 🍷🍷. Cheers!! Shame the pork and black pudding mash wasn’t on, but to be honest, a nice red will go with anything. Rach likes hers pink but I’m a well done sorta guy…well, I actually like medium but get scared to order it in case I get any pink meat 😂. It looks a lovely pub. Bobbit….now that’s a completely different story 🍆🍆😂🔪 Loving the cheese board, that’s our kinda night. Don’t forget to recycle those electrical 😂. Vanning has never really appealed to us, but Helga looks really cosy. Mmmm crumpets, haven’t had crumpets for years. Wow, bad flooding, it was like that in Dorset last week. Really enjoyed that both…cheers 🍻

Have had a few very drunken nights at the Trent Lock when working in Nottingham or staying at a mates house just round the corner….much further when drunk! They used to do a gorgeous share plate with pate, wings, brie….mmmmmm.

Slaw looked unusually subdued at first but pleased to say he cheered up later. Was that filmed before his heart surgery ?
i like beek / steak rare but only like lamb if it's well cooked we are all different aren't we
Thank you for noticing. It was a tough drive and yes it was before his surgery. Nothing a nice drop of red couldn’t sort though ❤️
Stay safe, have you planned your summer foray, if so where are you going? On you Normandy trip and your experience, we booked six weeks touring Normandy, (wobble box owners) keep up the excellent blogs, cheer my wife and I up on cold winter nights. 👍

hi when i lived there in the 1960 it all ways flooded at trent lock and the pub would be under water when the floods came L E is in DERBYSHIRE ok

Having heard Dr Slaw explaining how he would set a broken leg; it made me cringe. Whilst in the Middle East I had an open fracture of the femur and two young Indian Drs decided to try and straighten my leg whilst I was on a gurney in the Reception area! They failed miserably and gave me 2 panadol for the pain!!!🤕🤒
Sorry Slaw a second opinion is urgently required!

Do you book your pub stopovers with Brit Stops?
No Diane, we were members of Britstops years ago, but we found it was a poison chalice. Pubs were fed up with people who’d paid their fee to Brit Stops and so parked in the car park, put their chairs and BBQs out and didn’t put their money over the bar. If we mentioned Brit Stops when we phoned ahead, the welcome was frosty. We ditched Brit Stops and also Motorhome Stopovers (Same thing) and ALWAYS phone ahead and book a table for tea. Works perfect for us 👍🏻
