The way you describe the level in 5th place is kinda interesting to me, since I got a completely different interpretation from the level itself. In the country where I live, fire is natural to the landscape. While it can be dangerous if it goes out of control, small grass fires are actually good for the environment and actually stimulate growth of new plants. Given the dry climate shown in this world, it kinda looks like a place where fires may be common and a part of the life cycle of what lives there.
cjszero01 out of all the shaded levels (Busted Bayou, Amiss Abyss, Cliffside Slide) in Tropical Freeze, which one is your favorite, second favorite, least favorite and why?
Oh, Tropical Freeze was number 1 by default for me. In fact, I think it's the best Wii U exclusive. I know my opinion's biased, but there's no denying, there's more creativity and imagination throughout all of Tropical Freeze than there is in almost any other game on the Wii U, you know, not counting Super Mario Maker, which really just repurposes assets from every other Mario game.
Sawmill Thrill feels like it came straight out of DKC 3. The music combined with all the saws AND being inside a factory just reminds me of that game so much.
Awesome top 10. I absolutely loved this game.. It proves that people still want to make great games with dedication and love (Unlike those crappy developers on the iPhone and iPad..).
This is a very very good list. Personally, the levels in this game that truly impressed me above the rest are both on it. Irate Eight and Frantic Fields. Genius design, incredible visuals, and the music... I wasn't expecting a whole lot out of Tropical Freeze, but it truly rose to a level far and above DKC Returns. This may be my second favorite Donkey Kong game period - after Diddy's Kong Quest of course =)
Great list, CJ. I've always loved Scorch 'N' Torch and Irate Eight. Two of my favorite stages are Rockin' Relics for the atmosphere and music, and Rodent Ruckus for the sheer concept and execution. When you're told to 'make a level about cheese,' it's really easy to be uninspired and unoriginal, but the folks at Retro Studios did a superb job with it. Of all the Rocket Barrel stages, it's one of the only ones in the DKCR/DKCTF series in which the hazardous creatures aren't actively antagonizing you--they're just living their lives, jumping to snatch their cheese, and you happened to fly through their cavern. It's simply excellent.
Gotta say, this has to be your best countdown. I can tell you had a lot of fun making this video, and for that I applaud you. Keep up the awesome work CJ, and can't wait for the review.
Busted Bayou is just such an amazing level, and is probably my overall favorite piece of music in this game full of...almost equally amazing, NUMEROUS music tracks. I don't actually think there was a level in this game I didn't actually enjoy. I'd actually rate it as the best game on the Wii U, with 3D World up there somewhere as well.

When I saw Sawmill Thrill at #1, I couldn't help but grin. I loved this game as a whole, but that level had me in the most excited hysteria out of any other level on my first play-through.
My favorite levels were: Rodent Ruckus, for the music and a reminder of Ratatouille. Horn Top Hop, for the fact that you can jump from leaf to leaf, jump inside a giant horn with every blow pushing you higher up through the horn, and of course the peaceful music. Twilight Terror, because rocket barreling through a fish lake harbor with Giant sharp teethed eel shark things wanting to eat you in just one gulp and an amazing flute remix of gear getaway just really really really cool. Jelly Jamboree, Because big bouncy blocks of jello that you can bounce on that have items in them, is probably the most coolest and weirdest level idea in the entire DK history. And Finally, Aqueduct Assault, for the fact that whoever thinks that not hopping from crumbling ruin to crumbling ruin is not cool, has not had an amazing taste of just how cool this level is! Of course everyone has their own opinions but I personally think these are the coolest (And my favorite) levels! Also my favorite world is Autumn Heights, for my love of Switzerland, Norway, and Finland! Oh, and I also really like Reckless Ride, Grassland Groove, Scorch 'N Torch, and Mountain Mania, but it was already explained in the video why there so great!

Damn that Minecart level looks awesome. I also love all the constant references back to Kremkroc Industries (I recently played through DKC and forgot there even was a factory on DK Island!). Very interesting how in this game the factory is back and is now frozen over, nice.

Great list. Frozen Frenzy is so hard. Dixie is the only good helper. The Fruit World/Juicy Jungle is my favorite world by far. I finally played this game on Switch (I started DKC because of GBA. How fitting..) My favorite level is grassland groove. Also, it's more just cant wait to be king than circle of life though. Edit: I like Harvest Hazards the best now. Also, Jelly Jamboree and Frosty Fruits. All three have great music and level designs.

I base my top 10 on fun, music, how awesome the background was and how challenging the level was. 10. high tide ride - it was too easy to beat, but i like the music and 3d mine cart. 9 - horn top hop - loved the music and it was a relaxing level 8 - platform problems - LOVED how challenging the level was, loved how sinister the original dk track was 7 - blurry flurry - fun level, intense music 6 - fugu face-off - loved the boss and the music 5 - cliffside slide - loved the silhouette level and concept. 4 - irate eight loved the background music and how the intensity got cranked up FAST. 3 - scorch n torch - LOVED the music, I felt sad about the burning forest and wanted to save it 2 - aqueduct assault - music great and it signified the importance of being near the end. and 1. alpine incline. LOVED the background. My favourite dk track ever. Loved the changing background.

Cliffside Slide is my favorite level in the game. However I have a more creative name for that level. Since the level takes place in an avalanche, this level should've been called Avalanche Affairs.

I don't know my favorite level is but my favorite world was Juicy Jungle due to its atmosphere and levels offering a nice challenge. Also, good choice for #1 though I think your excitement/ caffeine levels may be too high. Or maybe not.

There were way too many good levels in tropical freeze for me to make a top 10, all 6 worlds (seven if you fully complete the game) had very fun levels
I love many of the levels put on this list, but one of my favorites that missing here has to be the rocket barrel level with the giant cheese... I just love the idea behind it.
Great list, I also really enjoyed alpine incline and the 3 secret seclusion levels. But I agree, world 3 was my favourite and I would have to say world 4 is my least overall.

Even after mario kart 8 and smash bros wii u , i still think Tropical freeze is the best game the wii u has to offer .

after 7 years, its Meltdown Mayhem, just finished the game on Nintendo Switch! And yeah, that level is awesome, At least in my top 15 out of 60

Cliffside Slide is my favorite level in the game. However I have a more creative name for that level. Since the level takes place in an avalanche, this level should've been called Avalanche Affairs.

I don't know my favorite level is but my favorite world was Juicy Jungle due to its atmosphere and levels offering a nice challenge. Also, good choice for #1 though I think your excitement/ caffeine levels may be too high. Or maybe not.

I want Grassland Groove as a level in Smash Bros. At least add in the music track.
My list is based on how much fun I have playing through the levels. This game is very hard and that is why the hardest levels of the game are not going to be on this list like Irate Eight (amazing music, creative level, but too hard for my skill level).

5. 4-A Rockin` Relics (an easier level with Irate Eight music)

There were way too many good levels in tropical freeze for me to make a top 10, all 6 worlds (seven if you fully complete the game) had very fun levels
Another reason to love Frantic Fields, half of the theme is a remix of Bad Bird Rag and the other half is Run, Rambi, Run!

I'm going to have to listen to that one closely again because I don't hear it.
Reminds me more of Mining Melancholy with the metal clashing, although it does sound like an original track.

I love many of the levels put on this list, but one of my favorites that missing here has to be the rocket barrel level with the giant cheese... I just love the idea behind it.

Great list, I also really enjoyed alpine incline and the 3 secret seclusion levels. But I agree, world 3 was my favourite and I would have to say world 4 is my least overall.
