Ubud Diary: I Ketut Gelgel "Art, Love & Family".

Ubud Diary presents the first solo exhibition of I Ketut Gelgel, one of the senior painters recently in Ubud. For more than 25 years he learn to paint from I Wayan Gedot, where he later also met Rudolf Bonnet, a Dutch painter who also guided him and I Wayan Gedot through the Ubud Painters Group (Golongan Pelukis Ubud).
This is his first solo exhibition. Over decades he has painted many paintings since the 1960s but never had a solo exhibition even though his painting was collected by many galleries and museums, even the Queen Elizabeth II of England had his painting in the palace collected in 1973. The process took quite a long time between one year to five years to finish a painting, so it is very difficult for him to be able to have a solo exhibition because it takes a very long time to finish just a few paintings.
