Every time I watch Dame Shirley sing, I always have a sense that she's creating/generating the storyline in front of her, for the first time.

TH-cam should disable the thumbs down button for this song. My nan who is in her late 70's used to play this. Always loved this song and I'm 22 and I'll be honest I didn't know who Shirley Bassey was till bout 4 years bk but then someone told me she's the singer of the song my nan used to play and looked into her more and how big she was, or in fact is, James Bond songs, long ass career, from wales. Yeah man. Proper legend.

Thank you for your impressions on a one of a kind performance. This performance was part of a musical moment where live performances had a certain rhythm to them (Main song, Powerful Close, Reprise, Standing Ovation, Roses, Flowers, Cheers, One More Song for the Road). It was predictable but allowed the audience come down from a frenzy/high.

I will continuously recommend Joe Longthorne to those who listen to and appreciate classic legends such as Dame Shirley and Sir Tom Jones. He was a local entertainer in the UK who made a name for himself with celeb singer impersonations. Dame Shirley being the most famous of these. Aside from his impersonations he had an incredible singing voice in his own right (as you can imagine, tackling the likes of Shirley Bassey, Tom Jones and Jonny Mathis.)

He deserved way more recognition than he received in his lifetime and he was lost to us too soon.
I've watch many reactions to this song and everyone says what a phenomenal voice she has etc. However, watching your reaction it seemed to have hit a nerve. It was like you felt those words especially when she sang "what a mess I've made of my life, crying over my mistakes I've made of my life" you looked into the camera. those words seemed to resonate with you.
