I found this by noting the White's king was stalemated. I could see the rook sac on e3 and the subsequent mate in 2 IF the White knight on e4 was gone. So Nxc3 forking Q and B gains time for the rook sac.
watched some of your earlier videos and i must say your commentary has improved so much with all the new videos, keep up the good work and i can't wait for the next one :)
Probably, but after b4 and Bxd3 the knight neeeds to be moved and there is no immediate threat. I thought myself Nxf2 might be good, followed by Rxe3 to lure the white king into the open but obviously this isn't as good as the game continuation!
This time I found the winning combination! This is similar to Boden's mate, here Instead of mate with two bishops we have queen and bishop Thanks Mato :)
I saw the knight sac but did not calculate all the moves as I didn't stop the video . I saw that the white king has no moves to his right coz of the black light bishop
2:52 What about Bc5, deflecting white bisop, then Nxc3 discovered check, knight is threatening queen. Black loses queen and possibly bishop, obviously not a good as mate but this is still winning, no?
hey mato, when i was child my teacher thaught me a game which was like after italian opening black plays Nd4, Nxd5 Qg5,Nxf7 Qxg2,Rf1 Qxd4+,Be2 Nf3# game was like this but i cant find the people who played like this,i also dont remember if this was just a book exercise or real life match...Can you please answer me if you know who played this game
after white returns the knight to its starting position, then plays it out to f3, why wouldn't he play it out to e2 instead, blocking the diagonal of black's light bishop and thereby allowing the castle?
I would have played knight to e5 , letting queen to pin down bishop and knight . then bishop to c6 check!! black knight captures white knight captures black knight threatening the queen !! then take knight back safely !! 1 more pawn up :) wat do u think mato ??

OMG his voice, I'm laughing at how much passion and personality is in one voice!
check......mate
Real game.
Blackburne Shilling Mate
1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Bc4 Nd4 4. Nxe5 Qg5 5. Nxf7 Qxg2 6. Rf1 Qxe4+ 7. Be2 Nf3# 0-1
Great video! I really liked the presentation and the time you give to the viewer to think and see the game for himself. Thank you.

Thank you for your comment
In disagreement with Bob, I rather like the games you've analyzed. Well done Mato. Much appreciated.
watched some of your earlier videos and i must say your commentary has improved so much with all the new videos, keep up the good work and i can't wait for the next one :)
I was really surprised When Mato said ... There's checkmate in two ... Nicely played . And Nice Teacher :)
Jeez! Excellent combination! I am sitting here stunned 86 years later.
The ending was amazing. I saw the knight could take the pawn, but I did not see how to force the mate.
Brilliant game indeed, but your voice killed me!
Thumbs up, you chess Dracula you.
black sacrifices his piece just to get it out of the way! great ending, I could not find the move. thanks for the video
If Nxc6 then Qxa4 and black is a piece against a pawn (notice how queen is defending knight on a5)
No need to feel like a half-wit. That was an incredible triple-sacrifice forced mate with all major and minor pieces left in the game.
I know a similar trap : 1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Bc4 Nf6 4.Ng5 d5 5.exd5 Nd4 6.d6 Qxd6 7.Nxf7 Qc6 8.Nxh8 Qxg2 9.Rf1 Qxe4+ 10.Be2 Nf3#
I always have difficulties playIng black when white is moving N to g5. Now I know how to defend. Thank You.
Mato, this not the fried liver attack. Black falls into the FLA by capturing on d5 with Knight. This is a mainline two knights defence.
one of the best video you ever made

great video mato, if i was playing, i would never find that winning attack
at move 16.c3 Ng3 is also winning...anyway !..it was brilliant game.. thank you mato....
I couldn't find the killer move that time, or even the mate in two. I'm in great shape for the tournament this weekend:-(
This time I found the winning combination! This is similar to Boden's mate, here Instead of mate with two bishops we have queen and bishop Thanks Mato :)
Thank you Mato! That was a tough one.
I saw the knight sac but did not calculate all the moves as I didn't stop the video . I saw that the white king has no moves to his right coz of the black light bishop
A very good game, Mato, Thanks for sharing it. I like it. Regards from Spain.
2:52 What about Bc5, deflecting white bisop, then Nxc3 discovered check, knight is threatening queen. Black loses queen and possibly bishop, obviously not a good as mate but this is still winning, no?
This is not the fried liver attack it is just main line two knights defence.. Fried liver attack only occurs after 5...Nxd5
An awsome version of Bodens mate!..
brilliant...and exciting......thanks Mato
Barnes storming ! Sorry about that Mr M; I was compelled to say it. ( I play chess that way, impulsive, doom-laden. )
But at 1:48, after Ne5, Qd4 cant knight just take on c6?
we want to see more of your own games
If Bxc6+ at 2:01 than Nxc6 Nxc6 and Qc5 and the knight cant escape

great work mato keep it up
mind boggling..thanks..
Very nice. Thanks, Mato.
That's what i was thinking. The queen simply takes the place of one of the bishops.
when the queen forks the bishop and knight why cant bishop take pawn with check?
oh thx
i played that fork in a recent game where i had the exact same position :)
Wow ..all kind of tactics in this game
haha saw that combination in 10 seconds. such logical play is always easy to spot..
brilliant play indeed..
wow never saw that comming! great vid!
That was an impressive attack.
I must admit - I didn't see it at all ... GREAT VID - as always!!!
"Why did black sacrifice the knight?" I guarantee you that 98% of people in this forum couldn't answer that including myself of course.
Are you blind? Or just stupid?
whats the name of this mate
I could have looked at that for an hour without finding that sacrifice. I'm a half-wit.
woow .. It is the most sacrifices i never sea .
As much as I like Tal, this is more similar to Alekhine's attacking style. If you dig up his games, you will see the resemblance.
Brilliant game by Barnes indeed, It was very "TAL-esque"!
Mato man, do some Anand games. He's only ranked #1 in the world!
Batman, the master of chess. Best narrating voice. uhu

I thought the same thing. Odd that the Mato (commentator) missed that.
topnotch presentation......don't resign
i think its because after queen c5 knight is trapped
He should sacrifise the hourse and then check with queen and take his hourse
Completely missed the move this time. Still not QUITE a grandmaster yet, sigh.
Yeah brilliant play indeed!
Felt like watching a horror movie
Brilliant.
that´s what i wanted to ask, too
fantastic moves!!
wow, BRILLIANT move
extraordinaire !
exactly
Dear Mato, can u be a ninja?
for me, it looks like a boden´s mate
This is a forced checkmate, your continuation gives breathspace to black i think, also i might be wrong didn't calculate deeply.
Fantastic!
tnx mato to your video,,
Brilliant
Awesome rook sacrifice
I would have played knight to e5 , letting queen to pin down bishop and knight . then bishop to c6 check!! black knight captures white knight captures black knight threatening the queen !! then take knight back safely !!
1 more pawn up :)
wat do u think mato ??
Then black queen to c5 and white knight is trapped
Thanks Jovita
Super gambit
what a game
That was awesome
this mate is cool
Nice!
wow, he saw that. wow
bravo!
I didn't see it :(
Dear Mato lol.
sacrifice moreeeee!!!!!!
Fisher would be proud! Was white player Aronian by any chance? Lol
New Zealand is a country...
ı found :)
Nice game. Mato reply to my mail please.
