Rock Shelter Camping

- Rock Shelter Camping offers the serenity of nature up close and personal. It is a totally different experience than tent, hammock or car camping. Half the fun is searching for a Rock Shelter that: provides protection from bad weather, has a good view, offers a flat floor, preferably sandy, and finally has no hiding places for snakes, spiders or other biting vermin.
The video is divided into the following chapters:
1) Follow less traveled paths
2) Explore possible shelters
3) Climb hills for perspective
5) Seek peace in the night
Video was filmed March 19-20, 2024 at the Rock Climbing Area in Texas Canyon, Angeles National Forest, California. An Adventure Pass is required to be displayed in vehicles when using the Forest for recreation.

Whoever put that little bench there is a blessing from God. Great idea, and a lovely gift to so many people.
My thoughts exactly
I am so glad to see/hear you out and about! While in my early seventies, I have been incredibly blessed via camping, hiking, canoeing, et al. Even when I am not out and about, you post a video and it seems I am “wandering along the mountain paths”! Thank you …
Thanks for sharing!
Dr. Ken … First: OUTSTANDING video!!! Second: you never cease to amaze me with your strength, knowledge, and resilience!!! I lived in Leon County, Texas for over 25 years; we were on the eastern fringe of the Texas hill country. I have family that lives in Humble/Atascocita, Texas. Going to and from the ranch, I passed within a mile of your home off mile marker/exit 79 on I-45. I had hoped that when the ranch sold that I might have the time, opportunity, and honor of meeting you and your wonderful wife. That opportunity was lost when you made your move to California. That notwithstanding, you remain a hero and role model!!! Ken, thanks for your inspiration and your channel!!! Until your next video and beyond, happy trails, best wishes, take care, be safe, God’s peace, and God bless!!! Chuck Knight from Atascocita, Texas. ✝️🎣👨🌾🦌🙏
Thank you for watching and commenting. Your words mean lot to me
@@KennethKramm : You, my friend that I have never met in person, are very welcome!!! God bless you, your wife and your family!!! Happy Easter!!! Chuck. ✝️👨🌾🙏

Thanks for watching commenting HazeyWolf. I agree, that little bench says a lot.
So glad I’ve found your channel. Twenty six year old Texas native. Your bright and energetic personality gives me tremendous joy. Thank you for sharing
I'm so glad!
Ken, I always enjoy your adventures. One of my favorites is the time you slept out under the stars on a beach that was infested with snakes. You are a brave man. There is no way I would sleep in those rock shelters. No telling what kind of critters come out of those holes at night.
Cool, thanks
Lovely
Thank you for sharing all that with us.
Peace
Our pleasure!

Thanks 👍
What a pretty place.Looked like a great time
It was!
So happy to see you back out where you belong! Keep up the great work! I wonder how many people over the centuries have been in that same old rock shelter. Depending on the resources around it, I can picture a nice indigenous family making it a comfortable home at some point.
Yes. True
Glade to see you out and about
Thank you
Amazing adventure! Sky pics were incredible. Thanks for sharing, what a Blessed life you live.
Glad you enjoyed it!
If someone carried a bench all the way to there... You GOT to sit and enjoy it! Great views!!
You got that right!
You once made a video about "What do you do when it rains?" Your answer was "Embrace the suck." I've given that advice to a number of people since I watched your video, but not about camping, just the various crap you have to deal with in life. Happy trails.
Of wow… thanks for mentioning. Your comment mean a lot to me
Fantastic as always ❣️
Thank you! Cheers!
Great video Ken. Your photography skills are outstanding.
I appreciate that!
wonderful video
Thanks for watching . Glad you liked the video. I know where the abandon silver mine is. (We talked about it when you visited). At last, I go camping again. I hiked part of the silver mine trail and decided to postpone it to a later to a later adventure. Rock shelters were calling
Awesome video Ken! Thanks for sharing!
You bet
Great video. One I’ll come back to later when I’m needing some peace.
Thank you. Glad you enjoyed it
Enjoy your adventure a wonderful work done here. I live in the Castaic area. I’m always looking for new adventures.
your night time video and photos are stunning,
Thank you
Sweet opportunities out there for you Ken, enjoy it!
That's the plan!
Very cool, another awesome video from Ken! 👏👏👏 Because of my arthritis and fibromyalgia, I have used elbow crutches that have spring shocks to help when hiking. You would be surprised how much they help. I love the scenery. As always, peace, Ken. ✌️
Fantastic. Glad you’re getting out and enjoying the outdoors. Every moment with nature is precious. Be careful
Thank you
So happy to see you sling the pack over your shoulders ! Great overnighter in such a neat place. Hope you get out some more this year. I did a day hike at the Franklin Mountains State Park and thought of you as I ate lunch at the West Cottonwood Springs. Right on Ken ! Peace !!!
Yes. Franklin mountains state park is fantastic! Thanks for mentioning
I'd totally go camping in the rock shelter..keep the videos coming.. so you are a cave man now lol
That's the plan!
@@KennethKramm there are lots of state parks here in Arkansas..lol 😂
Oh, Doc! How I’ve missed your night Timelapse videos 🌌 I wish the guys at IMAX would film you. What a fantastic place! ❤ ☮️ ✌️
Maybe one day!
Very nice.
Great to see you out rambling and roaming. I'm very happy to see you get to stay out on an overnighter again.
Be very careful around those
rocks. We need you in one
piece for more videos 😂
Can you ride your bicycle out and about anymore ?
I miss your cooking while outdoors and the sunrise coffee and breakfast ritual.
Maybe you can eventually
get back to doing those things
again with time.
Thanks for another great video
Looking forward to many
more ❤
Everybody have a safe and happy Easter. God Bless ❤
Thanks for watching. My doctors to me to stop bike riding. My balance is not as good as it should be…. And any accident or fall is dangerous. For life, I and taking blood thinners…. When hiking and crawling on rocks I am close to the ground to minimize risk
When hike I never take a step until at the trekking pole or walking stick is firmly planted on the ground and I hike where branches, roots and rocks are available to grab as necessary 😊
No need for a comment, just: ❤
Great. From Heaven. Raven or crow ?
Ken, you are a second cousin to a mountain goat with that hill climb.
Yes sir
Another beautiful keeper Kenneth. 2 or 3 more runt sized live oaks and that would be the hill country. Hey Kenneth, I'm just a handful of years behind you. Do you remember how many more birds and toads and snakes, etc. there were around when we were growing up and young ? When I try to tell people from the last 2 (or 3) generations about it they just give me that crazy old person look. Any advice on this ?
Thank you. As a kid. I found critters everywhere…. I still do today…. However.. more people and more human invented materials… plastics to birth control chemical and forever chemicals and sound pollution etc… make it a very different world..
biting vermin can be anywhere!
Such a beautiful place. Did you sleep comfortably on the ground?
Yes I did
Vasquez/ buṣ case.
Thank you Ken.
You are very welcome
