That's true. But at the same time, it's reasonable to expect a certain level of transparency from political candidates. It was the same thing with Trump's tax returns. He has the right to not share his tax returns. And nobody has the right to see them, unless he voluntarily releases them. But as a voter, if a candidate doesn't meet your expected level of transparency or truth-telling, you shouldn't vote for him/her. Guns are a good topic for this because how a person answers and what he says tells you a lot about his understanding of firearms and of 2A rights.

Saying Trump has a 45, and a 38 revolver ... answers part of that question. Saying rumors have it that kamala has a pistol that will fit in her purse, ... frankly says nothing. With the information you gave, it could be a water pistol. Then rambling on about what types of firearms are possessed by the secret service agents 'protecting' them ... was ramble. The candidates do not personally own the secret service agents, any more than you or I as taxpaying citizens do. That 'info' was something they call filler. Perhaps partially. The laws in question here (Florida and Federal) state that a convicted felon cannot "receive", "acquire", or "possess" firearms or ammunition (Florida adds "control" to the list.) The big problem with red flag laws is that if someone wants to take your guns away, at least temporarily, it’s really easy for the to do, without due process. Additionally, if the government really wants your guns taken away, they just have to declare you insane and that’s too easy to do.
You may not trust either candidate and I totally understand that, but only one Party has for years sought to disarm the law-abiding population. I also agree that red flag laws are a slippery slope, to be sure. Unfortunately, I think red-flag laws would be selectively enforced like so many of our laws today.

With both Eric and Don Jr being avid gun owners, I don’t think Trump is anti 2A. His statement on red flag laws was directed specifically toward domestic violence offenders and people deemed an imminent danger to others by threatening harm. It’s the same as how his statement on people in Charlotte NC were taken out of context. He never said he supports taking anyone’s gun ‘rights’ away, just removing the deadly weapon until the person/case is adjudicated.

My take on President Trumps statement about ted flag laws was and is about getting that issue into the hands of the judicial branch to make a ruling if legal or unlawful / unconstitutional. All the way upto the Federal Supreme court if need be.
Red flag laws already failed a bunch of times resulting in innocent people dying at the hands of the tyrannical government for constitutionally protected activity. Congress and the courts are divided on it because some of them want them some of them dont want them and others dont care. So its a situation.

Okay, I have to agree with others that have commented. This was definitely click bait, and it is annoying. Now with that said, your view (for the lack of a better way of putting it) was enlightening. Most of us rarely think about how many guns are [needed] and are being used for doing things like personal protection. And as you pointed out, they may not personally own the guns, but a large number of guns are needed by each to keep them safe.
The hypocrisy is when politicians play up to the anti-gun positions while not taking their own guarding detail guns away. Of course they can do without guns when they are surrounded with professional gun-toting mobs. Before you get upset, look at my total comment. I believe in red flag laws, with the following provisions. Before any firearms are taken, both parties must appear in court in front of a judge. The judge will listen to both sides before making any decision about taking a gun away from one or both parties. This provides both parties a chance to state their case. In this manner, one side can not take the gun away just for spite. There must be probable cause.
And if you can't afford someone to defend you, or lack deep pockets? A few baseless claims can bankrupt someone.

Both candidates are not perfect, but this is an exercise in voting for the lesser of two evils. There is an ocean of difference between the two, & for the 2A, there is a very, very clear choice.
Except when that applies, then it makes your vote irrelevant, because you have no line in the sand... If a candidate sees he no longer has to appeal to you (in this instance the 2nd amendment, or God Given right of self defense) because you deem them "the lesser of two evils" then they no longer care to cater to your views.
