    I wish I had kept my original dash instead of building a custom one. Mine should be pretty kick ass when it's done.

    My stock 196 800a Scout will do all that too, but the gearing is even better.

      Would love to see it. If you look in the video you will notice one of the rocks is almost as tall as my rocker panel and this truck is on 37s. You might make it through but your door wouldn't close well afterwards....come on down and we will film it.

      I had the 152 in mine, spring over d44 and 35s. I had 5.13 gears in the axles and those pinions were tiny. Also, despite the low gearing, it lacked power.

    You have a gift for mechanical skills and good depth of experience! Photography was excellent, perhaps get an off camera microphone to help with some fade-out. Very impressive presentation.Wow ! The roll-over bar is tremendously important by the way, and probably should be pointed out...Sincerely...

    Awesome build! I have a 99 GMC 2500 Sierra I am going to use for a donor on my 63 Scout 80 build. Trying to decide if I want to build a front 14 bolt to match the rear or buy a Dana 60 like the one you used here.

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      Steer 14 bolt would be fun. I am actually planning a steer axle 70 soon.

    How much lift do you estimate with this build? My 800 is sitting at about 8 or 9 inches on 37s, about 23 inches under the frame. This one looks about the same height. Just wondering if I built it too tall.

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Probably about the same. Seems like the frame was at about 23-24 inches off the ground in the center.

    Awesome build! I know this is a lobr of love, but do you have an idea on how many man hours in the build? I love the look that you have achieved. Again GREAT JOB.

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you!!! I would have to look back at invoices, but I would guess somewhere around 800 hours.

    What are you running for a pitman arm?

  • @lars-dimdiy-howtos464
    @lars-dimdiy-howtos464 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    You are running 17's which allows for ton calipers but you have 5 bolt wheels. Are they the 5 x 5.5? How / what got you from the C's out to wheels? Great stuff..on your videos. I noticed them on your 1 ton vid as well and finally asked here.

    • @OldIronOffroad
      @OldIronOffroad  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So the customer in both occasions opted for a 5 lug rear axle when they purchased it so we had to convert the front 60 to 5x5.5 as well. It is a complete conversion kit. Factory knuckles, The hub, bearings and spindle are the same , but obviously drilled for 5 lug. Pretty much it is different breaks and re drilled hub.
