  • 1/22/24 - A couple days ago I had an idea to make a fun traveling show to share with folks some of the places we experience across the world on our musical travels. Here we have the first attempt at "One Long Summer." One great thing about this being the first show, please feel free to comment ideas and critiques in the comment section. All suggestions welcomed.
"IN THIS EPISODE we bring you to beautiful Sarasota, Florida. This is where John and Mable Ringling built an amazing mansion on the water. Ringling Brothers Circus was hugely successful resulting in funds to built such a spectacular estate. We chose to take advantage of the FREE MONDAY experience. Walking the grounds and one museum is free on Mondays. There is a circus museum and tour of the mansion for about $35 if you would like to go that route. Come hang out with Paige and I as we check this place out!"

    Review Summary:
(Just in case you don't have time to be thoroughly entertained)
    1. Easy to get to/parking/accessibility?
Yes, gps was right on target. FREE parking and quite accessible. Lots of walking, but you can bring a wheelchair and there are courtesy golf carts to transport.
    2. Expensive?
Not bad. Free on Mondays which includes one museum of art and walking the grounds. You can walk to and around the mansion too. You. can add just the circus museum for $25. It's about $35 for the circus museum and tour of the 1st floor of the Mansion. I did't realize to add the 2nd floor of the mansion is $50 total. Our suggestion is going on a different day than Monday if you want to pay for the museums when it's not as busy.
    3. Fun Factor/Activites/ Food/Kid Friendly?
We had fun. Beautiful grounds, rose garden, lots of trees, plenty of walking. They had a small grillroom that had snacks and small meal options. We didn't go to it. Did look a bit pricey. Might not be as much fun for a kid. They did have a playground though.
    4. Educational?
Definitely! There is quite a lot you can learn right there on the grounds also so much to research online if you wish.
    5. Would we go again?
I think it would be interesting to see the other museums and inside the mansion. I wouldn't put it high on my list for a redo but I would go again, especially if going with people who haven't been before.
