I have seen many "Thick of It" episodes--it is brilliant--as well as "In the Loop", the movie offshoot of it which is also terrific. Don't have HBO so I'll eagerly await "Veep" to trickle down to Netflix. Thanks!
Yes. There's taking in other viewpoints and genuinely changing one's opinion through reflection and there's turning on a dime for expedience or to suit the listener of the moment. Very different things.
Exactly. Well said. I think that the hypocrisy also makes the electorate more vitriolic and while I'm all for a healthy dose of cynicism hyperbolic personal attacks and rudeness I can do with out. It chokes the whole machine. It also ruins the joy of a good debate for me. On a side note, if you aren't familiar with them, and providing don't mind colourful uses of expletives. I recommend "The Thick Of It" on hulu and "Veep" on HBO. They're great fun.
A much better debate this time around. I have to agree with John Sergeant on his point that a lot of politicians view their convictions as fluid and used simply to get and stay in power. Not really a positive trait in my opinion, I'd rather they wore their ideals on their sleeves than end up a "wolf in sheep's clothing". It's false sincerity, and while comprise is good complete abandonment is not.

Hi sn0otchie. Do you have S03ep05 by any chance? I'd love to watch that episode. I cannot find it anywhere. 😢
Thank you :D
I think someone should've pointed out that John was basically arguing for politicians to be as slimy and deceptive as possible....
