I think it's far larger than Nintendo gives credit for. I mean, I'd have to bet it had similar following to zelda games prior to BOTW. That's what made us fall to the wayside, among numerous other factors; simply the lack of a new game for some time.

I'd call it a neutral ending myself, as you don't die in the end, get to land on Hocotate in one piece... And wind up being sent back to Earth with perpetual life support, alongside his ne'er do well co-worker Louie
Well,in the bad ending, olimar will probably never get to see his family ever again Sure,he suffers a lot in the good ending by having to escape the planet, then go back to gather treasure,go back to gather treasure a second time and recover all ship parts from the hocotate ship, but at least olimar gets to live and see his family

Tiny hairs on the onion's legs isn't disturbing at all and is actually reminicent of plant root hairs. (It's easier to imagine when you conisder how small everyone is.)
1:08:53 Interestingly enough, the colours of the mysterious onions all have the exact colours of the Concept Art Pikmin that were shown in this video (Except for the Blue Onion since we already have Blue Pikmin in the first game of course). I don't know when that Concept Art was made, but if it's dating from just a bit before the Pikmin 1 game, the Onions we see in the Good Ending makes much more sense now
the interesting bit about the umibozu theory is that the water wraith is japanese is called "amebozu" "umi" is japanese for sea and "ame" is japanese for rain.
I kinda headcanon that the reason Koppaites have a disdain for Hocotatians is that during the food crisis, a lot of the food-type treasures were purchased by Koppai, presumably at a very steep price, so they feel they were fleeced by the Hocotatians.
The Louie pill looks kind of like one of those water toys that had a small figure inside that if you pushed the buttons, the figure would "dance". I had one of spongebob.
28:58 You were right! There are clearly other scientists studying PNF404 shown in the demo, from various planets in whatever galaxy Hocotate & Koppai are located in.
I am honored to be in such an amazing pikmin video. Amazing job on the video and I'm glad to see it got 10k views. Cant wait until this becomes one of the staples of the pikmin communities biggest pikmin videos ever.
when you think about the infinity of space and how small his ship and the meteor are, its a miracle how olimar could just fly into that one. also, seing how much the plasm wraith likes him and that he crash lands again, there might be a little more to him
Looks like a ton of work was out into this video, and it paid off well! I’m also genuinely amazed at the amount of pikmin youtubers coming together to make a video dedicated to the game. Goes to show the fandom really appreciates each other and the games themselves
My theory surrounding the Geiger counter is that it would detect Oxygen rather than radiation, since there is no other source of information about the part (that I can find). Olimar and the ship were from Hocotate and as such know little about humans and Earth, so chances are that some of the various parts have different uses to that of similar objects.
I just started playing Hey Pikmin and I literally immediately fell in love with the pikmin theyre so godawfully adorable so of course I needed to watch an iceberg, this is great and super interesting so thank you💪

God this video was great! If we ever get a part two following the release of Pikmin 4, I'd love to help take part in it, because man this series is amazing!
Pikmin theory, humans might still be around So I have a good amount of Theories regarding the whereabouts of humans in the pikmin games. It's been a pretty much accepted theory that humans are extinct in the pikmin games since pikmin 2. But ive always doubted that theory and now, with the intact houses and Well kept garden of pikmin 4, I feel like my theory is getting backed up quite a lot. First of all, id say that the game plays in a sort of parallel universe which would explain the weird Continent Layout and creatures that we see. But we know that humans are /were a thing based on the items we find in pikmin 2 and stuff like the electric Gates and such in pikmin 2 and 3. Furthermore, the electric Gates still work so there is still electricity. We also see mud castles that look like actual castles and there is a certain bridge in the twilight river that makes me think that humans are still around. It's a dead tree stump root that works as a bridge in the twilight river. On that bridge is a big concrete gate that was most likely build by humans. There are even pikmin carved into the pillars and I dont think that the pikmin did that. (the fact that the gate is on the root of a dead tree (the stump is the scornet Maestro Arena) implies that the concrete hate had to be build somewhat recently. If humanity Was dead for decades, the tree would have Rotted and the gate would have fallen into the water ages ago). Now I think the carved pikmin Shows us that humans are very Well aware of the pikmin and build little obstacles and leave treats for them, similar to how Some human kids play with ants. That would also explain why food is found in places like the distant tundra. I also think that the captains are aware of the humans as well and simply stay clear of humans as they pose too much of a thread thanks to their size. Otherwise, itd be weird that the koppaians in pikmin 3 and the olimar and louie find so many human artifacts and never wonder about what humans are etc. They probably dont have to theorize whom these massive artifacts and relics belong to since humans are still around, so their origin is self explanatory. To come back to the pikmin 4 Trailer, we see a flowerbed with little veggie signs (obviously made by humans) with the annual plants growing right next to them. These plants couldnr have grown there without human help since, Well, they are annual. We also see a teapot on a hot stove so there is both electricity and running water. Now the only things against my theory dont really make sense. Many say that the distant spring is a ruined house and Shows how society is collapsed or something but id say that there are lotsa ruins out there and itd make sense to search ruins. Why? Well, you have a great chance of finding treasure there (main goal of pikmin 2) but you dont have to risk running into humans. So obviously the distant spring (and the valley of repose because it's a ruined street) was a great location for pikmin 2. Pikmin 4 probably plays much closer to humans since you are in a rescue Team so safety is a bit less important. Also, in pikmin 1, olimars Geiger counter goes crazy. Many say that is because of nuclear Fallout etc but I dont think so. First of all, it wouldnr make sense that all these critters and plants would have survived and only humanity would have gone extinct in the nuclear conflict. There is always some background radiation and just think about the size of hocotatians and koppaians. They are tiny so even minor cell damage by tiny doses of radiation would pose a massive thread so it's obvious that their Geiger counters would be more fine tuned. These are the main points of my theory as to why humans in the pikmin World are still buzzing about and doing great.
I have an idea for a pikmin game to make the gameplay more exciting or challenging. How about adding weather hazards or natural disasters to the game? I heard everyone complain how some pikmin are just situational and you use them only for certain situations and then never again. With natural disasters, it will encourage players to use different pikmin. There could be rain that just slightly floods areas, or thunderstorms that may strike stray pikmin, wildfires, tornadoes, even hail rain. Adding weather RNG could really spice up gameplay (except for caves but then you have rock traps). Anyone else have ideas you’d like to pitch?
I was hoping to see the bottle with a marble inside being a recurring object in the forest navel, some beta levels, and one of the pikmin shorts. While it doesn't always have a marble its the same bottle product. It's such an oddly specific prop to use multiple times.
Every pikmin 2 copy is personalized! I remember losing a bunch of pikmin to a dirigibug spawning near my ship, but then I reentered and there was none nearby
Don' know if this was already said in a comment, but if so, I agree with them and am sorry for the plagarism, but: I think the Wraiths in the challenge mode ignored Louie because in his log entries, he talks about how to cook, and prepare, the enemies. Meaning, he had to eat them. He also has a Piklopedia entry about the Water Wraith. “Inedible. Known to cause mass hysteria, followed by leg spasms and internal thunderings.”. For him to have written this, he would've had to consume one, or a bit of one. It could be that kind of a Mini Wraith is forming inside of him. So the Wraiths avoid Louie in the challenge mode in order NOT to hurt the developing Wraith. But that's just my thoughts, I'd love to know what you think! Excellent video, have a good day! ❤
I've never heard of that before. Very interesting. But personally, I think i lean more into the umbozui theory on why it chases Olimar instead of Louie
I can’t believe they all came together and made all this. I watched it when it came out while I was in Maryland for a school trip and it helped me get by. It still makes me so angry they retconned it all right after this
very awesome video and great work from everyone involved! i know much of the iceberg consists of general fan theories not created by the people who worked on this video, so this isnt directed at any of you, but i think it should be considered that the protagonists of the pikmin games arent reliable narrators. such as olimar's speculation on places and objects- olimar isnt aware of humans, or at least doesnt have a solid grasp on how giant the intelligent life on this planet is/was, so what he claims might be a bunker couldve easily been something else entirely. to a man of his size, it could easily be a bunker. but to a human, it could be a hollowed out engine or pipeline of some sort. the hocotatians and koppaites dont really know how big humans were, as well as the ships, so their speculation has a bias that only theyre used to. the treasure 'alien billboard' in pikmin 2 is a great example of this, thinking something of that size surely mustve been a billboard for anyone passing by, not realizing how small it is for humans. again, not criticizing the people who made this video, so i hope this doesnt come off as rude! i just think its something thats fun and important to consider :}
YEAHHHHHHHH LETS FUCKING GOOOO Although...you did the Hocotate Ship so dirty! You went into the Dolphins personalities more than the Ships!! He's HUGELY developed!! Shame! SHAME!! No but really this was a joy I'm so happy it's finished and I'm honored to be a part of it
Some good Pikmin content to tide us over till next month. This was a very enjoyable video. Most of this stuff I knew, shows I waste so much time on this series
The president's name is Shacho. When you switch to characters in Pikmin 2 (I.e, Olimar and Louie) they will say their names. When you switch to the president, he says "Shacho!"
The plasm wraith obviously has continued to evolve like the rest of pnf404, and I think its new gold color in 3 is specifically to attract the treasure seeking Captain Olimar.
Personal theory on the human structures underground could be underground bunkers that the humans used to hide during what ever caused the mass extinction. Wood flooring could been a living area, tiles a shower room, and the outside underground areas could have been parks to simulate outside areas with artificial lights.
I've got only one complaint with this video and it's audio mixing. I find the speaking volume is so low that I turn up my volume really high only to suddenly be blasted with loud transition music. I think this video is great asides from that factor, so that's why I wanted to mention this so your new videos are even better. In the future, I recommend trying to keep the volume of things closer to the speaking volume even if it makes the entire track quieter. Alternatively, if you don't want to fuss with the volume of things, maybe consider writing your own subtitles (although the video being an hour and a half long would obviously present some issues there). Thanks for the cool video either way!
I'm pretty sure Hocatate not having oxygen was retconned since in 3 its mentioned that the difference in oxygen consintration between PNF-404 and Koppai is why it's "poisonous" and the reason why Koppaites are small compared to old earth stuff is due to the connection between oxygen concentration and creature size. So, since Olimar and Louie clearly breathe the same air on the SS Drake, it means it's the same for Hocatate.
to be fair oxygen is poisonous to humans too, and in high enough concentrations cause effects similar to a high or outright kill people given enough time, so I'd say it's less a reason and more of a clarifications imo since even us massive oxygen breathers can be poisoned by it lol
It’s crazy how everyone (including myself) just assumed that the post-apocalyptic earth theory was entirely true before pikmin 4 came out. In fact, pikmin 1 2 and 3 don’t really have anything to suggest that the games just happen to take place in areas that are just nature. Abandoned architecture does exist in our pre-apocalyptic world, and the treasures that are in pikmin 2 can be explained to be litter from humans
Honestly I didnt even consider it could be anything other than a post apocalyptic world. But the few things ive seen from pikmin 4, seems more that you just happen to miss any people by landing in abandoned/recently abandoned places
I know it's a large task but having subtitles available helps me understand what you're saying and it would be nice if it could be added in (not edited in the video obv)
1:18:37 this isn’t just based on the shorts (but the shorts do support the theory.) when pikmin are in “peril” (as the hocotate ship and captains call panicking pikmin that are in danger of dying to a hazard if they are not whistled in time.) only their leafs/flowers are covered in whatever puts them in peril, in spite of realistically only being in danger of losing their leaf/flower the pikmin die instantly upon the danger destroying the leaf/flower. What is even stranger is that despite realistically only having their leaves/flowers covered in water when sprayed with water by an enemy or spout the pikmin are still in danger of drowning (this used to be explained by the fact that in the piklopedea the water spraying enemies are described as spraying an acidic substance instead of water, this has since been retconned in both the pikmin 2 switch rerelease and pikmin 4 as all mentions of acid, including the name of the enemy formerly known as the caustic dwevill, are replaced with water for an unknown reason.) despite the fact that the pikmin “on water” (that’s the best way to describe it since they are not drowning by sinking into a body of liquid, they are simply covered in it.) still make “pikmineze” noises that do not sound as if they are impaired in “speech” by unwillingly intaking water into their vocal organ at the same time they are trying to “communicate” unlike when they are drowning in a body of water, this clearly indicates that their respiratory system is not blocked by the water when they are “on water” making the specific cause of death in that case unknown.
Great video! Especially needed for the lead-up to Pikmin 4 and the very likely new fans. Also a little detail in 19:51. There is a cutscene in the Frozen Hazard area from the Snowfall Field sector (Hey! Pikmin) that shows some red pikmin hiding *inside* a snowman, highly likely of their own making! Which comes to my attention because there we actually see the pikmin interacting with a structure of their making, like you mention in the timestamp.

Im glad to have a part of this video and sorry for the mispronunciations
17:09 I don't want to be that one person, but you forgot to say that White Pikmin can also spot buried treasure
This is so well made! Great job!
I can’t believe they all came together and made all this. I watched it when it came out while I was in Maryland for a school trip and it helped me get by. It still makes me so angry they retconned it all right after this
I'm glad you enjoyed it!
its so great to see this community so active as of recently! this is great stuff, props to everyone who worked on it!!
That was such a awesome video! Cant wait for pikmin 4 ice burg sequel
very awesome video and great work from everyone involved!
i know much of the iceberg consists of general fan theories not created by the people who worked on this video, so this isnt directed at any of you, but i think it should be considered that the protagonists of the pikmin games arent reliable narrators. such as olimar's speculation on places and objects- olimar isnt aware of humans, or at least doesnt have a solid grasp on how giant the intelligent life on this planet is/was, so what he claims might be a bunker couldve easily been something else entirely. to a man of his size, it could easily be a bunker. but to a human, it could be a hollowed out engine or pipeline of some sort.
the hocotatians and koppaites dont really know how big humans were, as well as the ships, so their speculation has a bias that only theyre used to. the treasure 'alien billboard' in pikmin 2 is a great example of this, thinking something of that size surely mustve been a billboard for anyone passing by, not realizing how small it is for humans.
again, not criticizing the people who made this video, so i hope this doesnt come off as rude! i just think its something thats fun and important to consider :}
Louie makes me want to punt him to the moon through several concrete walls
but overall loved the collab and video! Amazing job everyone. ^^
YEAHHHHHHHH LETS FUCKING GOOOO
Although...you did the Hocotate Ship so dirty!
Shacho means Company President in japanese. He still doesnt have an actually name unfortunately
@@FernandoUrista aw damn 👊😔
Who else love how the start of this amazing video start with a blue pikmin interrogation. Also thank you for this video.
😱🥺😠 < - my crew mates when I throw all my pikmin at a very unamused water wraith.
Who’s excited for Pikmin 5 in the year 4269
It's gonna be close to completion by 3089
The plasm wraith obviously has continued to evolve like the rest of pnf404, and I think its new gold color in 3 is specifically to attract the treasure seeking Captain Olimar.
Yeah sorry about the audio. It’s my weakest spot in editing but i have been getting better
@@FernandoUrista Ah well I hope I wasn't too discouraging there... You've got a great start and I'm sure you'll get better with time :^D
@@gooberexe9774 Dont worry about it. I like reading constructive critisism
I wasnt able to make it to the premier but DAMN what a good and crazy collab video this was!
Brought me joy to hear Heff's voice in this!
As a pikmin guy I appreciate this im running thru the games again and this is a big help with reminders of old crackpot theories
I’ve been waiting for someone to make a Pikmin iceberg like this!
Such a w iceberg, everyone is here!
The smash bros ultimate of pikmin videos
I know it's a large task but having subtitles available helps me understand what you're saying and it would be nice if it could be added in (not edited in the video obv)
1:19:45 my theory, due to the sound effects, is that the wraiths are some sort of ghost
You can take the olimarpill and work for hocotate to go home, or the louiepill, and get into trouble that sends you back.
We need a mega pikmin iceberg that uses all the pikmin games, media, lore and lost media
My main theory is that the Louie pill is like a cryo-sleep chamber, and was originally going to be used to store Louie in the ship
( 33:13 )
Just... why... i had to stop and rewind just to hear that correctly.
FINALLY, A LARGE PIKMIN ICEBERG TO SINK MY TEETH INTO!
Cannot wait oml
Hopes this gets more views this looks like it took a decent amount of effort
This iceberg is great. Need to be seen by more
I cant wait to see if any of these theories are confirmed in pikmin 4
i didnt contribute to this but its going to be awesom e
