The truth is Egyptians don’t identify as either black or white because Egypt was a melting pot of people from blacks Africans, Persians and Europeans. To say black Africans have no historical place in ancient Egypt though is misplaced. There are lots of holes in Cleopatras maternal line. Ptoloemy XII’s mother is not recorded but historians concede she could easily have been Black African, these are the indigenous people and make up the majority of the continent. Her Royal court would certainly have consisted of them and not been all Greek even if they were mostly inbred.
Assassin's Creed Origins has a more accurate portray of Cleopatra and It's historical fiction that is borderline sci-fi mixed with millenia old secret wars between secret societies.
The casting was perfect. The actress is actually mixed, possibly with black and white parents so she is probably about the right shade. Given Cleopatra was 1/4 black.

The ancient Egyptians are clearly black Africans and even so, there were Black Nubians who lived among them.
