You have ten tricks and need to find two more to make your slam. You have three suits that could provide an extra trick; you need on from two of them. How do you do plan the play?

Cashing the clubs is "not for fun". If W shows up with 4-3-1-5 or 4-3-5-1 the finesse is marked. 4-3-4-2 then he'll be down to 2 diamonds, and if E has carelessly pitched a diamond on the 3rd spade the Q will drop. In the given hand W is likely to discard a diamond on the last heart making it a near certainty in a non-expert game that E has QD.

Correct, cash the three club tricks in case you can learn more, It costs nothing unless you are playing matchpoints.

Also, why not take the 13th Heart before playing Diamonds when you find out they split 3-3? That forces both E & W to make another discard and might give you even more info. W would have to continue protecting Spades, and should toss a Diamond. But if he had held the Club J and discarded it on the 4th Heart trick (knowing he doesn't need to protect that suit), then he has revealed that there is one less vacant spot in his hand for the Diamond Q.

@@LearnBridgeOnline Perhaps I was a bit hard on him. Good videos but takes a long time to make a simple point so I fast forward.
